Abstract

Many drugs contain primary amino group can be utilized for synthesizing Schiff’s basses with different uses. A series of Schiff’s bases ( Z1 - Z5 ) have been synthesized using  (vanillin) and3,4 diaminopyridine ,procaine , Met form in , 2-arsanilic acid and RhodamineZ1 and Z2 were synthesized using acidic catalyst while basic catalyst has been used in the synthesis of Z3- Z5 .The characterization was performed using elemental analysis , FT-IR and proton NMR spectroscopes . The prepared compounds were biologically evaluated against gram positive and gram negative bacteria. The results showed excellent to moderate anti-bacterial activity.Keywords: Vanillin, Schiff’s bases, Met form in, Condensation reaction, Anti-bacterial activity, Disk diffusion method.

Abstract

Calophyllum inophyllum (CI) (Linn.) has been used to treat gastric ulcer in Indian folk medicine, but its efficacy has not been validated. The present study was carried out to evaluate the anti-ulcer activity of 80% ethanol leaf extract of Calophyllum inophyllum in rats. The effect of its extract on gastric ulcer in rats in pylorus ligation-induced and ethanol-induced models were studied using single dosing (200,400 mg/kg) and repeated dosing (200 mg/kg for 10 and 20 days) approaches. Ranitidine (50 mg/kg) and Sucralfate (100 mg/kg) were used as the standard drugs. Depending on the model, outcome measures were volume and pH of gastric fluid, total acidity, ulcer score, percent inhibition of ulcer score, ulcer index as well as percent inhibition of ulcer index. The extract possesses both dose-dependent and time-dependent anti-ulcer effect in the two models. The oral median lethal dose (LD50) is estimated to be higher than 2000 mg/kg for the alcoholic extract and secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, terpenoids, tannins and saponins were present. The findings of this study confirmed that the extract has anti-ulcer pharmacologic activity due to one or more of the secondary metabolites present in it. Therefore, this study validates its anti-ulcer use in Indian folk medicine. Further investigations on isolation of specific phytoconstituents and elucidating mechanisms of action are needed.Keywords: Antiulcer activity, Calophyllum inophyllun, Ranitidine, in vivo, Ethanolic Extract.

Abstract

The current study was conducted during the period from August 2017 to April 2018 in the Department of Biology - Faculty of Education for Girls - University of Kufa to measure the level of some cytokines and immunoglobulins in patients with Giardia lamblia parasite in Al- Najaf Province. A total of 923 stool samples from patients, with diarrhea ranging in age from 1 to 60 years were examined with a direct smear and sedimentation methods. The results of the immunological examination were shown using the enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and single radial immunodiffusion (SRID) Plate. IgA, IgE, IgG and IgM concentrations were increased in patients with Giardiasis as 276 ± 32.3 mg / dl, 260 ± 39.3 IU / ml, 576 ± 42.4 mg / dL and 73 ± 17.8 mg / dL , respectively, compared with the control group of 65 ± 22.7 mg / dl, 175 ± 23.3 IU / ml, 365 ± 27.3 mg / dl and 47 ± 14.4 mg / dl, respectively, with a statistically significant difference P <0.05.As well as an increase in concentrations of IFN-γ , IL-4 and TNF-α (284 ± 21.4, 395 ± 27.1 and 443 ± 29.2) pg / mL respectively compared to control group (131 ± 18.7, 345 ± 22.6 and 191 ± 26.6) pg / ml, respectively, with a statistically significant difference P <0.05.Keywords: Giardia lamblia; Cytokines; Immunoglobulins.

Abstract

Background: Pregnant women face increased risks of complications as they exposure to displaced conflict zones with damaged and destroyed health facilities in out conflict zones. Objectives: To determine the pregnancy complications among displaced women, and to find out the relationship between dietary habits for displaced pregnancy and complication of pregnancy. Methodology: A descriptive analytic study has been conducted on non-probability purposive sample of (200) displaced pregnant women select AL-Hussein Teaching Hospital in Karbala governorate .This study has been conducted during the period of 1st December until (30)th December 2017. A questionnaire is used as a tool of data collection to fulfill the study. A content validity, which is carried out through 13 panel of experts. Validity is determined by a panel of experts while the reliability utilization its split half. A descriptive and inferential statistics are used to analyze the data. Results: This table shows that the study result for demographic data the majority of the study samples 21-25 years old are 32% and the most the sample related level of education have secondary school 38% and housewife are 93% and resident in urban. The study results indicate that the economic status sufficient to some extend and living at camp are 53%. This table depict that the complication among pregnancy displaced that indicate majority of pregnancy suffer from anemia is 49%. This table depict that the there is a non- significant between complication among pregnancy displace women and diatery habit domain at p. value more than 0.05. While there is a significant between complication pregnancy displaced and (dental problems and prenatal vitamin) at p. value less than 0.05, also the correlation between fregin food and complication pregnancy displaced women is high significant at p. value less than 0.01. Conclusion: Anemia is the major pregnancy complication among IDPs women. Recommendations: A special education programs focused on improvement the women knowledge and practices about the prevention and management of pregnancy complications. Abstract

Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic autoimmune disease affects 0.5-1% of the worldwide population, of unknown etiology, characterized by chronic inflammation of the synovial joints, hyperplasia, and overgrowth of synoviocytes, with the destruction of articular cartilage that can cause serious weakness and inability to work. Objective: The present study aims to investigate the possible association between tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) levels and (-308 G/A) TNF-α promoter polymorphism in patients with RA in Babylon Province. Patients and Methods: This study was designed as a case control. Forty-five (10 males, 35 females) patients with RA and forty-five (9 males, 36 females) apparently healthy persons as control with the compatible age and sex were enrolled in this study. Serum level of TNF-α and anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies (ACCPA) were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method. Disease activity of RA patients was assessed using the Disease Activity Score-28 (DAS28). The frequency of TNF-α -308 G/A gene polymorphism was determined using polymerase chain reaction, restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) technique. Results: Present study finds significant high levels of serum TNF-α and ACCPA in patients with RA in comparison with healthy controls. The genotype of (-308 G/A) TNF-α gene promoter polymorphisms the GG genotype was 60% in RA patients and 42.2% in control group, while the GA genotype was 40% in RA patients and 53.3% in control group, whereas, the AA genotype was 0% in RA patients and 4.4% in control group. Correlation between TNF-α levels with both of DAS-28 and ACCPA in RA patients found to be a significant positive correlation proposes a probable role of TNF-α in RA pathogenesis. Statistical analysis showed no significant difference in the genotype frequency of the TNF-α (-308 G/A) gene promoter polymorphisms between two groups. Conclusions: The results of the present study were shown that TNF-α (-308G/A) gene polymorphism had not associated with a risk factor of RA in Babylon patients and this SNP do not affect the serum level of TNF-α in RA patients.Keywords: Rheumatoid arthritis, TNF-α, -308 G/A gene polymorphism, ACCP Antibody, PCR-RFLP , Iraq.

Abstract

Sistan and Baluchistan province with an area of 187.500 km2, accounts for 11.4% of the total area of the country as the biggest province. Considering the population density, it is one of the lowest populated provinces in Iran. Quality of the ground water is determined by its chemical, physical, and biological properties. Since chemical elements play a significant role in the type and amount of the usage of these resources, in this work, it's been aimed to determine and interpret the dominant type of water and critical points by measuring the important and influential physical and chemical properties including the concentrations of sulfate, fluoride, calcium, chloride, magnesium, and sodium ions, as well as other physical and chemical parameter in 800 samples from different areas of the province in 2015. The final goal is to contribute to solving the current water crisis of the country by gaining the knowledge for better management of these water resources, now and in the future. The results demonstrated that, in all cities of the province, all parameters were within the limited range, except for sodium, which was revealed to be higher than the limited range in majority of the cities. Among these cities, the quality of the water in Zahedan and Chabahar was obtained to be comparatively worse. Furthermore, the dominant type in Sistan and Baluchistan province was detected to be sodium sulfate and then sodium bicarbonate.Keywords: Chemical elements, water quality, ground water, GIS, Sistan and Baluchistan

Abstract

This study was established to evaluate the quality of drinking water in two water purification plants in addition to four residential neighborhoods within the scope of these plants by measuring a number of physical and chemical properties per month and during the period from February until August 2017. The samples were collected from two outlets within the filter plant (River outlet and collection tanks of sterile water after adding chlorine). The results showed that the values of trihlomethane rise with rising temperature, pH, free chlorine and total organic carbon. The highest value of (83.324) μg/ L was recorded in Al-Jadria area during the month of July. Also, four heavy metals (Pb, Zn, Al, Fe) were investigated and the results show that the concentrations of both aluminum and zinc were not exceed the international and Iraqi standard specifications, while the concentration of iron and lead exceeded these limits in some locations during the months of July and August. Also, Total organic carbon was measured, and Aerobic Plate Count, Coli and Streptococci were detected. In addition to measuring the pH, water temperature, electrical conductivity, total organic solids, turbidity, total hardness, the concentration of sulphate, chlorides and nitrates, and the results showed that the total organic carbon values were exceeded the Iraqi and international standards limits in some locations, and the highest value is 1.70 mg /l During the month of July while the other factors did not exceed the standard limits.Keywords: Drinking water, Tri-halo methane, Lead, Gas Chromatography, Least significant difference

Abstract

A new three spectrophotometric methods are developed for determination of cefdinir. The first method including conversion the of amine functional group in cefdinir to diazonium ion followed by reaction with reagent Bisphenol A in alkaline medium. Produced azo dye has a Reddish- Orange with absorption intensity at λmax 495 nm. The concentration ranges 1-50 μg/ mL, Beer's law is obeyed, correlation coefficient was 0.9996, molar absorptivity was 0.613×104L.mol-1.cm-1 and the detection limit was 0.194 μg/mL. The Second method was cloud point extraction (CPE) of a trace amount in aqueous solution that product of diazotization followed by measuring with a UV-visible spectrophotometer at λmax 505, purple color. The concentration range obeyed the Beer's law was 0.25-6 μg / mL, correlation coefficient was 0.9995, molar absorptivity was 0.727×105L.mol-1.cm-1, detection limit was 0.036 μg/mL, Pre-concentration factor was 25 and Distribution coefficient(D) was 394.13. Flow injection analysis third methods it is simple for setimation the cefdinir based on the measurement of absorption signal for product resulting from diazotization, all experimental parameters chemical and physical were studied to development and stability the colored of product. Flow injection of 1.5mL/min was pumped and active material was detecting at λ max 495nm. In this the proposed methods were successfully, applied to the estimation Cefdinir in pharmaceutical formulation. The three opposed methods have been applied successfully to the Cefdinir drug in the pharmaceutical formulation.Keywords: Cefdinir, Diazotization, Cloud point extraction, Bisphenol A, Flow Injection Analysis.

Abstract

The increase in the prevalence of traumatic brain injury (TBI) followed by increased morbidity and mortality challenges anesthetists to perform the treatment patients with TBI. Menwhile, interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) are the first pro-inflammatory markers expressed after secondary injury occurs. In addition, propofol (2,6-disopropylphenol) is a short-acting intravenous agent that reported to play role in inflammatory process. This study aims to determine the effects of propofol administration on the neuroinflammatory pathway. Thirty adult female Sprague Dawley rats were randomly assigned as TBI rats (T), rats that received propofol infusion (P), or TBI rats that received propofol infusion (TP). The rat model of TBI was developed using the Marmarou Weight Drop method. Clinical assessment was performed using the Neurobehavioral Severity Score-Revised (NSS-R). Brain tissues were taken 24 h after TBI and the levels of interleukin-1 (IL-1) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) mRNA expression levels were examined using qRT-PCR, while the concentration were examined using ELISA and immunohistochemistry. On clinical examination, a decrease in the median value of NSS-R in the TP group was found from 30th minute to 120th minute. 24 hours after the occurrence of TBI, there was a decrease in both the TP and T groups. However, the NSS-R values in the TP group were lower than those in the T group. The expression of IL-1β was found in the nuclei and cytosol, while IL-6 was found in the axons and cytosol. The expression and concentration of IL-1β and IL-6 were the highest in the TP group, followed by the P and then the T group. Propofol can improve neurological function in rats with TBI, probably through the mechanism involves neuroinflammatory pathways, particularly IL-1β and IL-6.

Abstract

This research involve synthesis (Pyrazol,isoxazole ,Oxazine, Thiazine, Pyridine, pyrimidine) derivatives by three different steps, The first step includes coupling reaction between 3-amino acetophenonediazonium chloride with imidazole in alkaline alcoholic solution to form (1-(3-((1H-imidazol-2-yl)diazenyl)phenyl)ethan-1-one) (1) ,while second step includes reaction(1) with (3,4-Dimethoxy benzaldehyde) to get chalcone derivative (2),while the third step includes reaction(2) with (hydrazine ,phenyl hydrazine ,2,4 dinitrophenyl hydrazine, hydroxylamine hydrochlorid, urea, tiourea, ethyl cyanoacetate, malononitrile, guanidine hydrochloride) to get (five and six ) hetrocyclicderivatives, heterocyclic compounds have been characterized by FT-IR, 1H-NMR and13C-NMR  analysis and study the biological activity for all derivatives to word two types of becteria.Keywords:  Azo, pyrazole, chalcone ,oxazine, thiazine,  pyridine, pyrimidine.
