Abstract

The domestic legal systems have shown an interest that varies from one system to another in the environment in which man lives. In the pursuit of progress and advancement, man has achieved great success in various fields, but on the other hand, he has contributed intentionally and unintentionally to harm the environment in which he lives, and the reaction of States when recognizing the dangers posed to the environment in an initiative to work to support their domestic laws to The adoption of programs and plans for the protection and preservation of the environment within the limits of its regional competence and the development of some laws and regulations in the field of the environment, which led to the flourishing support for domestic law in many countries, especially the developed world in the field of the environment, which led to the emergence of a series of national legislation However, efforts to protect and preserve the environment at the domestic level cannot lead to achieving their goals unless they are coupled with efforts at the other level, namely international relations, because the field of the environment highlights the close link between domestic and international law. The environment for natural and geographical considerations is ultimately only one integrated and connected in a natural format. Keywords: Environmental Law, Pollution.

Abstract

Introduction Since its introduction by Finney and Hepperlen in 1978, the double-J (DJ) stent has become a common armament that every urologist uses every day. The use of the DJ stent cannot be separated from the morbidity or complications that might occur, including discomfort arising from the insertion of stents, forgotten to remove, urinary tract infections, biofilm formation, and even encrustation of the stent. This research aims to determine the correlation between the risk factors in the formation of encrustation in patients with urinary tract stones. Materials & Methods This is a cohort study using the chi-square analysis and odds ratio calculation. We evaluated urine metabolite, urine culture, time of removal of the DJ stent, and encrustation formation in the DJ stent. Sixty patients with urinary tract stone and 60 without urinary tract stone participated in this research. Results The presence of urine bacteria and neglected DJ stent in the stone group and abnormal urine levels of magnesium in the non-stone group had significant correlation with encrustation formation of the DJ stent (P < 0.05). Conclusions various factors lead to encrustation formation in the DJ stent, and patients with a history of stones have more risk factors for encrustation formation. Keywords DJ Stent, Bacteria, Urine Metabolite, Neglected, Encrustation.

Abstract

Background: Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is a common infection and inflammation of the reproductive tract that is lining (endometritis) and fallopian tubes (salpingitis), is a recurrent condition among young women .PID and its complications, such as infertility, ectopic pregnancy, and chronic pelvic pain, are preventable by screening asymptomatic patients for sexually transmitted infections (STIs). This study aimed at identifying the microorganisms isolated, as well as the evaluation of frequency distribution for Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhea, and others aerobic and anaerobic bacteria which may be associated with PID. Materials and Methods: Endocervical swabs totalling 43 were aseptically collected from women of reproductive age with pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), attending in two hospitals of Babylon Province: Province: Babylon Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital, and Al-Mahaweel General Hospital; as well as the samples taken from private clinics, during the period from January to October 2018. Results: Out of the 43 samples analysed, 30 women (69.7%) yielded pure cultures of bacterial isolates, among these 30 women, 22 (73.3%) had mixed cultures while no bacterial growths were recorded from the remaining 30.3 % samples. Organisms encountered were Escherichia coli the most encountered frequency (37.2%) followed by Staphylococcus aureus with (27.9%). Enterococcus faecalis (23.2%), Gardnerella vaginalis (16.2%), and Candida spp (11.6%) were less common, while Chlamydia trachomatis, Klebsiella pneumonia, and Neisseria gonorrhoe had the lowest occurrence frequency of  (6.9%) , (6.9 %), and (3.2 %). Conclusions: Pelvic inflammatory disease is a major health problem in developing countries of the world; the micro-organisms frequently responsible for acute PID were genital tract Escherichia coli. Thus, measures should be taken regarding early diagnosis in order to provide treatment before the complications develop of PID.Keywords: Acute pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), Female patient, Clinical presentation, Microbial isolates.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Phenylketonuria is a hereditary, autosomal recessive disease characterized by deficiency of hepatic phenylalanine hydroxylase. Dietary PKU treatment and regular monitoring of blood Phe are responsible to prevent symptoms. Therefore, present research was performed with the objective of determining incidence of PKU in the Hormozgan Province, South of Iran. Material and Method: This cross sectional study was carried out in Bandar Abbas, Hormozgan among 71677 neonates, who were born from March 21, 2014 to March 21, 2016. The newborns were screened during the days 3 to 5 after birth. Finally, the incidence rate was calculated and statistical analysis conducted by Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22 (SPSS Inc, Chicago, IL, USA). Results: Among study population, 36705 (51.2%) of cases were male and 34972 (49.8%) were female and 15 cases (12 in first year and 3 in second year) were ELISA positive (considered as suspected PKA) and referred for confirmatory HPLC test. Finally, three neonates were confirmed as PKA positive cases by HPLC test. Overall incidence rate of neonatal PKA in two studied years was 1:23866. Conclusion: We can conclude that the incidence rate of phenylketonuria in southern Iran is reduced to 1:16987 in 2015 and 1:37736 in 2016, which is probably due to improved knowledge of general population of Iran about controllable determinants of PKU.Keywords: Phenylketonuria, Newborn, Incidence, Iran.
