Abstract

The research comes in an attempt to reveal the effect of counseling sessions on the methods of parental treatment and its role in the development of social behavior and to reduce the deviation of a sample of young people belonging to the centers and forums of youth and sports. And that the adolescent lives in a sensitive stage of his life needs to be understood and take his hand in order to be a positive and social community and integration with others and be able to take realistic goals consistent with their tendencies and potential because the social behavior The role of the sessions and the extension programs contribute to the development of social behavior and thus contribute to building a better society free of deviation and crime among young people. The study sought to identify the effect of instructional sessions on parental treatment methods in developing social behavior and reducing the phenomenon of deviation among young people. The researchers hypothesized that there are differences of statistical significance for the experimental group in the development of social behavior and reduction of Majeure deviation among young people, researchers have identified the research community, members of youth and sports forums in Najaf and researchers chose the youth forum (Ansar) as a control and the number (25) and Youth Forum (Black Rivers) as a pilot group and their number (25). After the application of the main they experiment were analyzed and the results are processed using (SPSS), has reached researchers to results, including the need for the use of extension programs and to increase awareness and use of appropriate methods of parental treatment of parents of good treatment and urged their children to integrate with others, have recommended the researchers emphasize the use of methods Democracy and desirable in dealing with their children and the impact of those methods in the development of the personality of children and the need to conduct surveys to detect the spread of positive social behavior because of its impact in reducing the phenomenon of deviation and reduce crime.Keywords: Training sessions, social behavior, phenomenon and delinquency.

Abstract

Background: Smartphone has become a mainstream medium, in the healthcare setting because of quick access to medical information, enhance students’ learning in a clinical environment and increases knowledge score. Therefore, this research was performed to determine if there was an association of the mobile applications usage at night on sleep pattern and academic performance of the medical students of UniKL RCMP. Aim: This study was done to determine the relationship between socio-demographic factors with 3 elements, which are mobile application usage, sleep quality and quantity and academic performance. Methods: This cross-sectional study involved Year-2 till Year-5 medical students of UniKL RCMP. The sample size was calculated to be 214 students with 95% confident level, by using Opine application. The study was conducted from December 2016 to January 2017. The quota sampling method was used. A set of questionnaires were developed and computed as the variables of this study. Statistical analysis was done in SPSS 21 using appropriate statistical test, p<0.05 was considered as significant. Results:  Out of 300 only 215 questionnaires were returned.  100% of the current study respondents use a smartphone. There was a correlation between average total time smartphone apps used before sleep at night and feeling tired after waking up in the morning. This study result showed that usage of smartphone apps during class could lead to losing of attention. Conclusions: There were a correlation between mobile apps usage at night on sleep pattern. The heavier the usage of smartphone apps, the more sleep quantity and quality goes down. Though, students’ academic performance was not significantly associated with the use of mobile apps.

Abstract

A simple, rapid and highly accurate UV spectrophotometric and one viscosity and conductivity methods for estimation of Loratadine in bulk and its pharmaceutical preparation. The method based on using direct ultraviolet detection on the wavelength range 190-400 nm. An absorption maximum was found to be at 286 nm. The percentage recovery of Loratadine ranged from 100.113 to 99.564 % in pharmaceutical syrup form. The developed method was validated with respect to linearity, accuracy (recovery), precision, limit of detection (LOD), limit of quantitation (LOQ), Sandell's sensitivity, molar absorbtivity, molar extinction coefficient and specificity. Beer's law was obeyed in the concentration range of 5-35 μg/mL having line equation y = 0.0248x+ 0.0621 with correlation coefficient of 0.9988.Then studied the factors affecting the formation of wormlike micelles through focusing of different concentrations of Lor. 100-1000 µg.ml-1 in different temperatures (298.15, 303.15, 308.15 and 313.15 K) and at ratios of (20/80, 30/70 and 40/60).Thermodynamic functions (∆Go, ∆Ho, ∆So) were calculated for the process of micelles formation in the presence of Lor., the results indicated that the cationic (CTAB) and anionic (SDS) surfactants revealed a big tendency towards formation of wormlike micelles in Lor. Because intermolecular interactions. The other aspect included The prepared mixtures of surfactants have been study electrochemically using conductometric measurements in the aim of obtaining a relationship between conductivity (L(μS.cm-1)) and viscosity (η (pa.s)) of these solutions, but there is no linear relationship  has been achieved.Keywords: Loratadine, Surfactant, Viscosity and conductivity.

Abstract

The present study was conducted to demonstrate the effect of the Thermal power station on the concentration of heavy metals (Fe, Pb, Ni, Cu, Cr, Cd, As, Se) from January 2017 to August 2017. The concentrations of the heavy elements under study were estimated by atomic absorption spectroscopy. The mean concentrations of heavy metals (Fe, Pb, Ni, Cu, Cr, Cd, As, Se) respectively in the industrial water discharged to the Tigris River were measured in mg/l (2.35, 0.266, 0.318, 0.314, 0.093, 0.117, 0.024 and 0.359). The results of the study recorded contamination of the soil of the study area with heavy elements (Pb 89.25 mg / l), (Cd 8.41 mg / l) and (Ni 93.75 mg / l). The study concluded that the power station affected the pollution of ecosystems and deteriorated the quality of the Tigris River in the southern part of Baghdad.                              Keywords:  Heavy metals, Thermal power station, Atomic absorption spectroscopy.

Abstract

The manufacturing of rapid and shelf stable dry fermented sausages became an art and provided the market with a very diverse range of delicacies. Fermented sausages can be defined as a meat product made of a mixture of mainly pork meat pork fat, salt, curing agents, sugar, spices, and in many cases starter cultures are added. The mix, including as little oxygen as possible, is placed into steam - permeable casings and subjected to a fermentation and drying process. Fat is one of the important factors contributing to enhanced flavor, texture, juiciness, and mouth feel of dry fermented sausage. However, fat is easily rancid to create bad odor as well as lower product quality and shelf-life. Objective of the current research studied the feasibility of edible coating in extending shelf-life of dry fermented sausage. The dry fermented sausages were treated by different formulas (N0: control; N1: 2.0% wheat gluten; N2: 2.0% w/w chitosan; N3: 2.0% w/w sodium alginate; N4: 2.0% w/w collagen) and in different concentration of chitosan (2.0%, 2.5%, 3.0%, 3.5%, 4.0%). The effectiveness of edible coating was based on the physicochemical attributes such as pH, water activity (aw), TBARS value (mg/kg); biogenic amines such as tyramine (mg/kg), 2-phenylethylamine (mg/kg), tryptamine (mg/kg), cadaverine (mg/kg), putrescine (mg/kg) and histamine (mg/kg); antimicrobial capacities such as total plate count (cfu/g), Enterobacteriaceae (cfu/g), Coliform (cfu/g), E. coli (cfu/g), Staphylococus (cfu/g), Listeria (cfu/g), Salmonella (cfu/g), Vibrio (cfu/g), yeast (cfu/g), mold (cfu/g) and sensory characteristics of dry fermented sausage during storage. All treated samples were analyzed after 9 months of storage at ambient temperature under vaccum packing. Results revealed that the incorporation of 3.0% w/w chitosan could inhibit microbial spoilage and lipid oxidation and therefore maintain the sensory score of the dry fermented sausage for 9 months during storage. The study indicated that the combination treatment with edible coating could be commercially utilized to maintain the freshness and prolong the shelf‐life of the dry fermented sausage.Keywords: Dry fermented sausage, Wheat gluten, Chitosan, Sodium alginate, Collagen, Antimicrobial, biogenic amine, Sensory.

Abstract

Background: Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) can cause significant morbidity and need for surgical intervention due to the high prevalence of diabetic foot problems in general population. The incidence of DFU is 15% of all diabetic patients. Eighty-two percent (82 %) of DFU will lead to lower extremity amputation. Therefore, the factors that affecting the needs of distal limb amputation should be described for prevention and decrease the need of amputation and morbidity of the patients. Objective: The aim of this study is to determine factors affecting distal limb amputation in patient with DFU. Methods: The design of this study is retrospective cohort, using data of DFU patient treated surgically from January 2012 to September 2016. Socioeconomic factors, Blood profile, Diabetes Mellitus (DM) profile and Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) were collected. All the data were then analyzed using SPSS. Result: There were 119 patients were enrolled in this study. Thirty-nine patients (32.7%) had distal limb amputation. The amputation level was forefoot (34 patients, 87%), mid foot (2 patients, 5%), hind foot (2 patients, 5%) and Trans tibial (1 patient, 3%) amputation. This study showed that socioeconomics factors were not significantly correlated with distal limb amputations in patients with diabetic ulcer. The level of DLA was not affected by patient’s blood profile, DM profile and ABI. Conclusion: Decision to perform surgical intervention can not only rely on the laboratory profile and socioeconomic factors of the patients. Clinical judgement of the doctor and the patients' general conditions should also be considered.
Tropaeolum Majus Leaves Extract as an Antifungal, Antiaflatoxigenic and Antiaflatoxin Agent Mohammad J. Al-Jassani

Abstract

Tropaeolum majus‎is widely cultivated both as an ornamental and as a medicinal plant. All parts of the plant are edible and highly nutritive and it was evaluated for its antifungal, anti-oxygenic and anti-aflatoxin activity. T. majus leaves were collected and let to dry in a shady place then grinded. Total of 100g of dry plant was extracted successively with 250 ml of Absolute ethanol. The plant extracts’ anti-fungal activity were tested against aflatoxigenic Aspergillus spp. isolates by disc diffusion method and the MIC, MFC was determined using microdilution method. The microplate fluorescence imaging procedure was used for antiaflatoxin activity test. The ethanoilic extract of T. majus showed high antifungal activity against most selected aflatoxigenic Aspergillus isolates at 100mg/ml of MIC and MFC. The ethanoilic extract of T. majus showed high influence on the inhibition and depression of AFs production genes at MIC of 50mg/ml and MDC at 25mg/ml. The concurrent addition of the ethanoilic extract of T. majus (2 to 0.25mg/ml) to the RBC suspension cased a significant reduction in AFB1-induced hemolysis in a concentration-dependent effect manner. The results showed that 1.5mg/ml of T. majus ethanoilic extract was the best concentration that prevented aflatoxin-induced hemolysis with 100% AFB1 elimination. As a first report, T. majus leaves extract is highly recommended as an additive to the food and feedstuffs as a nutritive, antifungal and antitoxin agent.Keywords: Tropaeolum majus, Antifungal, Antiaflatoxigenic, Antiaflatoxin.

The Study ObjectivesEstablish standard levels of motivation for academic achievement, professional orientation and future perceptions of students of physical education faculties in the middle Euphrates universities.To identify the drivers of academic achievement, professional orientation and future perceptions of students of physical Education colleges at the middle Euphrates universities.To identify the level of motivation of academic achievement, professional orientation and future perceptions of students of physical education faculties in the middle Euphrates universities.Researchers used the survey curriculum to identify the drivers of academic achievement, professional orientation, future perceptions and student assessment according to these variables, and the research community included the students of the fourth stage in the faculties of Physical Education and Sports sciences at the Middle Euphrates universities, after which it was applied Metrics for the purpose of conducting the assessment, and using the appropriate statistical means in order to process data using the statistical pouch (SPSS).In the light of the results of the present research, and of the interpretations that have been followed, we can draw some conclusions, the most important of which are the following:Standard standards of motivation for academic achievement, professional orientation and future perceptions have been established for students of Physical Education Colleges and Sports sciences at the Middle Euphrates universities.Students of the faculties of Physical Education and Sports sciences at the Middle Euphrates universities have an average level of motivation for academic achievement, professional orientation and future perceptions.There is a potential for developing the motivation for academic achievement, professional orientation and future perceptions of students of physical Education Colleges and Sports sciences at the Middle Euphrates universities.In the light of the findings and conclusions of the research, the current research has reached the most important recommendations, as follows:To take advantage of the benchmarks of academic achievement, professional orientation and future perceptions that researchers have applied and set standards for them to detect these variables for students of physical Education Colleges and Sports Sciences in Iraq.Use of standards in educational and psychological guidance to develop the motivation of academic achievement, professional orientation and future perceptions.The need to provide specific lectures to students during educational and teaching units by a psychologist and a psychologist.Keywords: Assessment, Academic achievement, Professional orientation and future perceptions.

Abstract

Dental caries is a multifactorial, dynamic disease process that results from a dysbiosis in the biofilm, driven by exposure to fermentable carbohydrates, which over time leads to demineralization of dental hard tissues. In spite of the significant reduction in caries prevalence in many parts of the world, dental caries remains a major public health problem affecting people of all ages. Furthermore, the disease is not equally distributed, with multiple population groups at increased risk. If allowed to progress, over time the disease will result in the development of detectable changes in the tooth structure, or caries lesions, which initially are noncavitated (i.e., macroscopically intact, sometimes referred to as “white spot” or “incipient” lesions), but that eventually might progress to cavitation. Modern caries management stresses a conservative and preventive evidencebased philosophy, with patient-centered risk-based disease management, early detection of caries lesions, and efforts to remineralize and/or arrest noncavitated lesions that aim to preserve tooth structure and maintain health. In support of this philosophy, numerous systems and guidelines have been developed. Pharmacophore Screening and Molecular Docking of Andrographolide and Its Derivatives on Plasmepsin as Antimalarial Drug Sandra Megantara

Abstract

The study was conducted to find out andrographolide and its derivatives which could interact with plasmepsin, an aspartic protease enzyme that usually used as target for antimalaria. The study began with pharmacophore modeling using LigandScout software. Pharmacophores were searched for plasmepsin I, II, and IV, with pdb codes were 3QS1, 1SME, and 1LS5 respectively. Pharmacophores were generated using structure-based and ligand-based pharmacophore methods and retrospective validation was used to validate them. Pharmacophore screening was carried out for andrographolide and its derivatives, then for the hit compounds, continued by molecular docking using AutoDock Vina module in LigandScout software. Pharmacophores for plasmepsin I, II, and IV consist of hydrogen bond donors, hydrogen bond acceptors and hydrophobic interactions, with the best validated AUC values for each model were 0.73, 1.00, and 1.00 respectively. Andrographolide derivatives (AND10 and AND15) had high fit scores for plasmepsin I, II, and IV pharmacophore. The results of molecular docking showed that andrographolide and its derivatives (AND10 and AND15) interacted well with the plasmepsin by binding to important aspartic amino acid residues in the active site. From the binding affinity, AND15 was the best compound interacted with plasmepsin I, II, and IV with ∆G values were 1, 2, and 3 kcal/mol respectively. Andrographolide derivative (AND15) was the best compound interacted with plasmepsin, so it was potential to be developed into new antimalarial drug.
