Abstract

According to the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) in 2018, approximately 49.52% of all internet users in Indonesia are aged between 19 and 34 years, with the majority of this age group being students. Prolonged computer use can lead to higher levels of asthenopia compared to other types of work. This study aims to examine the correlation between computer usage duration and the occurrence of asthenopia among students. A correlational design with a cross-sectional approach was employed in this study. A total of 76 participants were included, and data were collected via a questionnaire distributed online using Google Forms, which the respondents completed. The collected data were then analyzed univariately and bivariately using SPSS software. The results indicate that the majority of respondents experienced mild asthenopia, with a percentage of 78.9%. Statistical analysis showed no significant relationship between gender, duration of computer use, eye break intervals, history of major eye diseases, and medication consumption with the occurrence of asthenopia (p>0.05). However, a significant relationship was found between age and the occurrence of asthenopia (p<0.05).

Abstract

Anemia in pregnant women is the main cause of bleeding and infection which is a major factor in maternal death. A woman who experiences bleeding after giving birth can suffer from severe blood deficiency (anemia) and experience long-term health problems. With a rate of 305 per 100,000 live births, Indonesia has a high maternal mortality rate (MMR) when compared to other ASEAN countries. The MMR target is 70 per 100,000 live births in 2030, in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), 2017; WHO, 2022). Currently, the rate of anemia in pregnant women is still high. Based on 2018 RISKESDAS data, the prevalence of anemia in pregnant women is 48.9%, meaning that 4-5 out of 10 pregnant women suffer from anemia. Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) or Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) is an important indicator of the level of public health and is a sensitive indicator in describing the welfare of society in a country. . This research uses a cross-sectional strategy, using numerical data through a retrospective survey with a sample of 35 people. Research Results Based on the results of statistical tests, it was found that p.value = 0.003 and α = 0.05, where the P.value (0.003) < α (0.05) there is a relationship between maternal parity and the incidence of anemia. Based on the results of statistical tests, it was found that p.value = 0.005 and α = 0.05, where the P.value (0.005) < α (0.05), so it can be concluded that there is a relationship between maternal age and the incidence of anemia. Based on the results of statistical tests, it was found that p.value = 0.005 and α = 0.05, where the P.value (0.005) < α (0.05), so it can be concluded that there is a relationship between pregnancy spacing and the incidence of anemia. Based on the results of statistical tests, it was found that p.value = 0.005 and α = 0.05, where the value of P.value (0.005) < α (0.05), so it can be concluded that there is a SEZ status with anemia incidence

Abstract

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease characterized by pruritus, erythema, and impaired skin barrier function. Conventional treatments such as topical corticosteroids and calcineurin inhibitors effectively reduce inflammation but pose potential adverse effects that limit their long-term use. Consequently, natural-based alternatives like curcumin have gained increasing interest. Curcumin, a principal polyphenol in turmeric (Curcuma longa), is known for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and immunomodulatory properties. Its mechanisms in AD involve the inhibition of the NF-κB signaling pathway, downregulation of proinflammatory cytokines (IL-4, IL-13, TNF-α), and enhancement of filaggrin and ceramide production, which are crucial for restoring skin barrier function. This study is a systematic review aimed at evaluating the efficacy of curcumin in alleviating AD-related inflammation based on recent clinical and experimental studies. The meta-analysis revealed that nano-curcumin formulations were more effective than conventional curcumin in reducing atopic skin lesions and transepidermal water loss (TEWL). Additionally, combining curcumin with emollients or essential oils exhibited synergistic effects in improving skin hydration and reducing inflammation. In conclusion, curcumin demonstrates significant potential as an adjuvant therapy for AD; however, further research is required to determine its long-term efficacy and safety profile in clinical applications.

Abstract

Premature rupture of membranes (PROM) is the rupture of the amniotic membranes that happen spontaneously before delivery. This can happen in early (premature) pregnancy or late pregnancy. PROM happens on high-risk pregnancies that are caused by the predisposing factors such as incompetent cervix, abnormal position, excess uterus, CPD and infection. The purpose of this study is to determine the pattern of bacteria that causes premature rupture of membranes in patients at M. Djamil Hospital Padang in 2022. This is a descriptive-based research with the total sampling method using secondary data in the form of a rekam medis. The sample of this study were PROM patients in 2022 that met the inclusion criteria with a total of 16 patients. The results of the study showed that the largest age group was aged ≥ 35 (56.25%) with most patients were high school graduates (56.25%) and employed (62.5%). The most types of bacteria were Gram positive Staphylocoocus aureus with 5 samples (31.25%) and Gram negative bacteria Acinetobacter baumannii with 5 samples (31.25%). The results of the antibiotic sensitivity test showed that gentamicin was the most sensitive antibiotic (100%). Some antibiotics, such as celfazolin, ceftriaxone and cefepime, were resistant antibiotics (100%) while the antibiotics erythromycin and ciprofloxacin were intermediate antibiotics in some of the samples studied, with the respective percentages of antibiotics being 100% and 12.5%. The conclusion of this study is that the most bacteria found in PROM are the Gram-positive bacteria Staphylocoocus aureus and the Gram-negative bacteria, namely Acinetobacter baumannii. The antibiotic susceptibility test showed the most sensitive antibiotics namely gentamicin, the most resistant antibiotics namely celfazolin, ceftriaxone and cefepime and intermediate antibiotics namely erythromycin and ciprofloxacin.
