Abstract

The objective of this research was to analyze the role of agricultural extension worker in developing cashew farming in Watulea Village, Gu District, Buton Tengah Regency based on productivity of cashew farm that still in low category, whereas this village is one of the cashew production centers in Sulawesi Tenggara Province. There were various problems faced by cashew farmers which require the presence of agricultural extension workers as mentor, facilitator and organizer. Respondents were 60 cashew farmers representing 120 cashew farmers in this area and were taken at simple random sampling using lottery numbers from a list of names of all cashew farmers. Primary data was collected through structured interview with respondents using questionnaires; while secondary data was collected from various literature sources and related agencies such as the local village head's office. Data analysis was carried out descriptively qualitatively using data tabulation and preparing intervals for each research variable based on the highest value (score) and the lowest value (score). The result showed that according to farmers' assessment, the three roles of extension worker have been carried out well, there were only a few indicators in the role of instructor that still need to be improved, namely training farmers to choose and use medicines to prevent and control pests and diseases as well as fertilizers appropriately. Also developing ideas or concepts and putting them into practice to motivate farmers to develop farming businesses. As facilitator, extension workers have been considered good by farmers, as well as as organizer.

Abstract

Tomatoes have high economic and nutritional value but are highly perishable due to their high water content, necessitating appropriate handling strategies. These strategies include the use of inhibitors and specific packaging types. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of gibberellin treatment and storage systems on the chemical characteristics of tomatoes during storage. A factorial completely randomized design was employed with two factors. The results showed that the interaction between the inhibitor, packaging type, and storage duration had a significant effect on all parameters. The best treatment in this study was gibberellin at a concentration of 5 ppm combined with modified atmosphere packaging (MAP), which maintained the quality of tomatoes up to the 20th day of storage.

Abstract

School-age children are the nation’s investment because they are the next generation. School age is a period of growth and development of children towards adolescence, so it is necessary to provide nutrition of good quality and quantity. Adequate intake of permitted foods that are safe for consumption is very important. The habit of consuming street food is very popular among school children. It is important to pay attention to the food environment in schools, because there are quite a lot of unhealthy foods available in schools. This study aims to determine and study food safety from a microbiological perspective in several elementary schools in Amahusu State, Ambon City. This research is descriptive. The research was conducted in two stages, including a survey (questionnaire distribution) and a microbiological test (ALT). The result of the study shows that samples A1 (Fried Rice) and A2 (Bakpao Cake) at SD Negeri 1 Amahusu have a number of microbes that are still below the threshold set by SNI, as well as samples B1 (Fried Rice) and B2 (Donut Cake), the number of microbes is still below the threshold set by SNI. Where as in samples C1 (Fried Rice) and C2 (Egg Meatballs) the number of mirobes passed through the limits set by SNI. Apart from that, the implementation of sanitation and hygiene has not been carried out optimally by sellers at elementary schools in Amahusu, Ambon City.

Abstract

This research aims to obtain endophytic fungi from healthy chili plants (Capsicum frutescens L.) and test the inhibitory power of endophytic fungi, which are thought to have the potential to control the pathogen that causes fusarium wilt disease (Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. capsici) in chili plants (Capsicum frutescens L.). The exploration results obtained five genera of endophytic fungi from different plant parts and in different villages and hamlets, including Colletotrichum sp.TWtc, Rhizoconia sp.TWdc, Trichoderma sp.TKac, Penicillium sp.TKbc, and Aspergilus sp.TObtc, The percentage of inhibitory power of the five endophytic fungal genera against the pathogenic fungus F.oxysporum f.sp capsici is as follows: Trichoderma sp.TKac, which is 85.29%, followed by the isolate Rhizoctonia sp.TWdc, which is 62.14%, isolates Penicillium sp. TKbc was 61.31%, Colletotrichum sp.TWtc isolate was 60.27% and the lowest inhibitory power was Aspergillus sp.TObtc isolates were 46.42%. Conclusion: The endophytic fungus Trichoderma sp. TKac has the highest inhibitory ability against the pathogenic fungus F.oxysporum f.sp.capsici, so it can be used as a biological control agent.

Abstract

This study uses a purposive sampling method. Certain considerations. The location was determined intentionally because in Ohoitel Village, North Dullah Island District, Tual City, the samples were 42.6% of the total number of 24 farmers used, only 10 populations. These results conclude: 1) Marketing Channels for shallot (Allium ascalonicum) in Ohoitel Village, North Dullah Island District, Tual City, have two marketing channels. Marketing pattern I: farmers - consumers, and marketing pattern II: farmers - retailers - consumers. The total margin of marketing channel I is zero because there is no price difference between farmers and consumers, and the total marketing cost is 2,026; the profit obtained is 22,974; and 2) The results of the efficiency of shallots can be seen that the value of the efficient marketing channel has an efficiency value of 100 percent. It can be seen that marketing channel 1 is efficient for channel II; there is an efficiency value of 0.16%, which means that marketing in Ohoitel Village itself can be said to be inefficient because the low quality of production by farmers results in lower selling prices or profits received by farmers.

Abstract

Cookies are a type of biscuit made from soft dough, high in fat, relatively crispy and dense in texture. The flour that is often used in making cookies is wheat flour, therefore, to reduce dependence on the use of wheat flour, an alternative substitute for wheat flour is needed, such as composite flour based on local food ingredients. Cookies using non-wheat flour are usually included in the short dough group. This study aims to determine the best treatment of composite flour based on enbal flour. This study was designed using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with one factor, namely the comparison of enbal flour with other flours consisting of 4 levels of treatment, including: T1: MOCAF Flour 50%: Enbal Flour 50%, T2: Sukun Flour 50%: Enbal Flour 50%, T3: Sago Flour 50%: Enbal Flour 50% and T4: Banana Flour 50%: Enbal Flour 50%. The results of the study showed that the cookies with the best treatment were in the treatment of 50% MOCAF Flour: 50% Enbal Flour based on chemical characteristics including water content of 5.16%, ash content of 1.51%, protein content of 5.46%, fat content of 21.3% and carbohydrate content of 66.41%, as well as organoleptic characteristics both hedonic and hedonic quality including color 4.00 (very like) and 3.00 (brown), taste 4.00 (very like) and 1.33 (does not taste of enbal) and texture 4.00 (very like) and 4.00 (very crispy).
