Abstract

This paper focuses on the economic empowerment of women in the agricultural sector in Afghanistan. It aims to highlight the critical role that women play in agriculture and the necessity of addressing the barriers they face to enhance their participation and contributions to sustainable development. The methodology employed in this research involves a comprehensive analysis of the barriers hindering women's economic empowerment in agriculture. This includes examining social, economic, and legal challenges, as well as proposing actionable solutions to overcome these obstacles. The key findings of this study reveal that women's empowerment in agriculture is significantly impacted by factors such as limited access to education, financial resources, and decision-making processes. The results indicate that addressing these barriers can lead to improved economic outcomes for women and contribute to the overall development of the agricultural sector in Afghanistan. The implications of these findings underscore the need for targeted policy interventions and support programs. The findings of this research are crucial for informing policy-making and planning efforts aimed at promoting gender equality in agriculture. By recognizing the importance of empowering women economically, stakeholders can implement strategies that foster inclusive growth and sustainable development in rural areas.

Abstract

This study evaluates the effectiveness of community-based development (CBD) initiatives in rural Afghanistan, focusing on the National Solidarity Program (NSP) and the Citizens' Charter National Priority Program (CCNPP). These programs, designed to empower rural communities through participatory decision-making and infrastructure development, have played a critical role in post-conflict reconstruction. Using a mixed-methods approach, this research combines quantitative data from surveys and program reports with qualitative insights from interviews and focus groups to assess the programs' impacts, challenges, and sustainability. Key findings reveal that while the NSP and CCNPP have significantly improved access to basic services and fostered community participation, they face persistent challenges such as fragmented social structures, security constraints, and gender disparities. The study highlights the importance of context-specific approaches, enhanced local governance capacities, and greater gender inclusion to ensure equitable and sustainable outcomes. Additionally, the study addresses the implications of recent political changes, including the Taliban's return to power, on the future of CBD initiatives in Afghanistan. By providing a comprehensive analysis of the NSP and CCNPP, this research contributes to the broader understanding of CBD in conflict-affected settings and offers actionable recommendations for policymakers and development practitioners. The findings underscore the need for adaptive strategies that address Afghanistan's unique socio-political dynamics, ensuring that future CBD programs are more inclusive, resilient, and effective.

Abstract

Anthrax is a disease caused by the bacterium Bacillus anthracis. The disease can be a threat to bioterrorism because it causes a high mortality rate and is easy to spread. The characteristics of sport anthrax are resistance to extreme environmental conditions. Furthermore, the Vegetative form of anthrax bacteria can form biofilms. This characteristic causes the bacteria to become a potential biological weapon agent because it is persistent and resistant to some antimicrobial agents. Antibiotic therapy is still considered the main treatment choice for anthrax disease. Antibiotic recommendations vary depending on the location, severity of the disease, and level of antimicrobial sensitivity that should be tested through bacterial culture. Anthrax prevention and control procedures in Indonesia are still limited in monitoring the entry of animals from anthrax-free areas and administering vaccines to animals in endemic or enzootic areas. The high rate of death, illness, and economic burden due to anthrax outbreaks requires health workers to increase medical vigilance against clinical anthrax. Early detection efforts and policy-making to prevent the spread of anthrax, especially against the possibility of its use as bioterrorism, should be a concern

Abstract

The endurance of soccer players in Indonesia is generally still low. Aerobic capacity is an important component for improving physical fitness and endurance. When comparing several age groups, young players have less physical fitness. This study aimed to determine the effects of progressive training on changes in the maximum oxygen volume (VO2max) and heart rate (HR) based on recovery time. This study is quasi-experimental with a control group design and was conducted on student soccer athletes. Sixty athlete students who met the inclusion criteria were divided into a control group (n=30) and a progressive training group (n=30). The intervention consisted of progressive training for ten weeks with marathon running at distances of 150, 200, and 300 meters with rest intervals for each distance. The training load was gradually increased by increasing the number of repetitions every week. VO2 max, and Heart Rate were evaluated before and after the program. The results shown that the VO2 max was significantly different between the groups (p<0.001), and the Heart Rate of the subjects in both groups decreased from start to finish. Notably, the HR in the progressive training group was lower than the control group. In conclusion, progressive training is effective in improving aerobic capacity and physical fitness.

Abstract

The construction industry currently contributes 13% to the world's Gross Domestic Product (GDP), uses 36% of global energy and produces 39% of energy-related CO2 emissions. The application of Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles is increasing in construction management to achieve sustainability. The construction sector brings diverse impacts on the environment, especially through significant construction waste. The relocation of the National Capital City (IKN) to East Kalimantan has the principles of smart city, forest city, and sponge city which carry the concept of sustainable construction. So this study will analyze the factors that influence the implementation of sustainable construction management on project waste management in IKN. The method used is a survey method with a quantitative method approach and the research variables used are based on the results of a literature review. So that from the results of the analysis it is concluded that the factors that influence sustainable construction management on waste management are Energy Efficiency, where the indicator that has the highest value is the use of energy-efficient plants, machinery and equipment. This is because the implementation of work at IKN cannot be separated from a development approach that prioritizes the use of wise, efficient resources and minimal environmental impact.

Abstract

The aim of  research is to study the physical conditions at the small pelagic fishing locations relation with the ideal criteria for small pelagic fish habitat. In this research, physical parameters consist of temperature and chlorophyll-a will be analyzed according to conditions at the actual small pelagic fishing location in FMA 715 throughout 2018. The actual small pelagic fishing location is obtained from the fishing logbook data which is validated with the Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) data using Kernel Density Interpolation. Sea surface temperature (SST) and chlorophyll-a information at small pelagic fishing locations are extracted through MODIS Imagery. Small pelagic fish species at the fishing location are caught for Shortfin Scad, Trevally, Yellowstrip Scad, and Shadow Trevally. The results showed that the surface temperature at the small pelagic fishing location in FMA 715 is 21.56 - 31.75 oC and chlorophyll-a concentration is 0.08 - 1.33 mg/m3. It can be concluded that the physical conditions at the small pelagic fishing location are not always in accordance with the ideal habitat conditions. The conditions of sea surface temperature and chlorophyll-a that are close to the ideal conditions for small pelagic fish habitat are in the East Season.
