Abstract

In higher education institutions, the academic achievement of students is an important thing. Various activities and maximizing campus facilities are part of students' efforts to realize their best achievements. Against low academic achievement, a teacher is required to innovate learning and the various approaches used. One strategy that is often recommended by experts is through the strategy of memorizing the Qur'an. As the first step in the learning process, appropriate steps and techniques are needed and support the elements that influence it. The Qur'an and Tafsir Study Program at IAIN Palu has implemented a memorization system for its students to improve their academic achievement and the relationship of memorizing the Qur'an for Students of Qur'anic Science and Tafsir IAIN Palu.

Abstract

The waste problem in Indonesia is one of the major problems. Bogor City is one of the cities that has a serious waste problem. Public awareness and participation are needed to overcome the waste problem. Waste management at the Rangga Mekar Waste Bank is important for good waste management by sorting waste. Public participation in waste sorting practices is expected to reduce environmental pollution. This study aims to see the Rangga Mekar waste bank program educating and influencing the community by analyzing the influence of environmental factors of the Rangga Mekar Waste Bank on the personal factors of waste bank customers, analyzing the influence of environmental factors of the Rangga Mekar Waste Bank on the behavior of residents in managing waste,  and the influence of personal factors of residents on waste management behavior. The method used in this study is the survey method. The results show that environmental factors have a positive influence in measuring personal constructs, but the influence of direct environmental factors on behavior is not significant. Personal factors have a positive influence on behavioral factors. Waste management in the community is greatly influenced by personal factors and individual self-ability. The environment acts as a reinforcer, while behavioral change depends on improving personal factors.

Abstract

Mediation has become one of the increasingly popular dispute resolution methods in the modern legal system because it is considered a faster, more efficient, and more cost-effective solution than litigation. However, the success of mediation cannot always be guaranteed. Some cases show that mediation, which seemed to work well at first, ended without reaching a binding agreement. This study aims to analyze the causes of mediation failures that seem to be successful but end up failing. The research method used is a qualitative approach, with data collection through literature studies. After the data is collected, the analysis is carried out through the process of filtering, presenting information, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study revealed several main factors that led to mediation failure, including unclear or unrealistic agreements, excessively high expectations from one or both parties, external influences that interfere with the mediation process, and limitations of mediators in skills and neutrality. This study emphasizes the importance of a deep understanding of the factors that cause failure as well as appropriate preventive efforts to improve the success of mediation and reach mutually beneficial agreements.

Abstract

This study explores the role of cultural intelligence and knowledge sharing in influencing employee performance, with job satisfaction serving as a mediator. Performance is defined as the ability and achievements in completing tasks or reaching goals, and is impacted by both cultural intelligence and knowledge-sharing practices within the workplace. Cultural intelligence refers to the ability to adapt to diverse cultural environments and interact effectively with individuals from various backgrounds. Knowledge sharing encompasses the exchange of information, experiences, and expertise among employees across departments. Higher levels of cultural intelligence and knowledge sharing can enhance job satisfaction, which is a positive emotional state arising from job achievements and experiences. Employees with high job satisfaction tend to exhibit greater productivity and performance. This quantitative study utilized four questionnaires: cultural intelligence (Van et al., 2007), knowledge sharing (Lin et al., 2022), performance (IWPQ by Koopmans, 2014), and job satisfaction (original MSQ by Weiss et al., 1967). The sample comprised 116 active employees from PT X, a steam power plant in Cirebon, West Java, selected from a total of 606 employees. Findings reveal that job satisfaction mediates the relationship between cultural intelligence and employee performance, but does not mediate the relationship between knowledge sharing and performance. This study provides insights for tailoring employee management strategies based on factors such as age, position, education, cultural intelligence, and knowledge sharing, ultimately enhancing satisfaction and performance in a multicultural work environment.

Abstract

The richness of Indonesian culture has an impact on the variation of regulatory systems that apply in each region, including the enactment of customary inheritance law for the Minangkabau Tribe. Modernity has an impact on the social adaptation of the community in addressing customary inheritance law. The research conducted examines the impact of injustice and gender inequality in Minangkabau customary inheritance law, as well as the shift in its provisions related to the principle of justice. The method used in the research is a normative juridical approach that focuses on exploring the interaction between customary inheritance law and positive law in the context of justice and gender equality. This qualitative approach research uses primary data through interviews and observations, as well as secondary data in the form of books, journals, and legal documents. The results of this study show that Minangkabau customary inheritance law which adheres to the matrilineal system gives the main role to women as heirs of high heirlooms. This reflects gender equality in Minangkabau society, where women are considered more capable of maintaining and caring for cultural and family heritage. However, over time, there has been a shift in gender roles, including men who have begun to become heirs influenced by migration and cultural acculturation. Nonetheless, the system still seeks to maintain a balance between customary traditions and the principles of Islamic law, which form the basis of inheritance distribution.

Abstract

The issue of stunting remains a significant health concern, particularly in East Lombok, which has one of the highest stunting rates in West Nusa Tenggara. This study explores the role of Family Development Session (FDS) activities in preventing and addressing stunting in Lenek Pesiraman Village. FDS, an integral part of the Family Hope Program (PKH), provides structured learning sessions to beneficiary families (KPM) to increase their knowledge and foster behavioral changes related to health, education, and nutrition management. Using Giddens' structuration theory as an analytical tool, this research investigates the interaction between agents (beneficiary families and FDS facilitators) and structures (the PKH program) in implementing FDS activities. A qualitative case study approach was employed, with data gathered through interviews, observations, and documentation from 2019 to 2024. The findings indicate that FDS activities have significantly influenced behavioral changes in the community, particularly in improving nutrition awareness, pregnancy care, and environmental health. Additionally, FDS has facilitated a deeper understanding of stunting prevention among beneficiaries and contributed to reducing stunting rates in Lenek Pesiraman Village. The study highlights the importance of collaboration between facilitators and beneficiaries in achieving the program’s objectives and provides insights into enhancing the implementation of FDS activities for better community health outcomes

Abstract

This study measures the effectiveness of the use of project-based learning strategies for learning to write essay texts that contain archipelago and maritime insights in grade XII students of SMAN Taruna Nala Malang. The low writing skills among students are the background of this study because students experience difficulties in organizing their minds and developing essay frameworks and have limited vocabulary. Students can increase creativity and independence as well as responsibility and confidence and critical thinking skills because project-based learning strategies are chosen. This study uses an experimental method and uses a one group pretest-posttest design. A total of 22 students in grades XII-4 of SMAN Taruna Nala Malang participated in the research. The results of the study showed a significant improvement in students' writing skills after the implementation of this strategy, with an average increase in pretest and posttest scores of 18.15. The normality test showed normal distributed data, and the t-test showed a significance of 0.02 < 0.05, meaning that there was a significant influence from the implementation of the chosen strategy. The effectiveness of this strategy is included in the medium category with an average n-gain value of 0.419. This study proves that project-based learning strategies are effective in improving essay writing skills with archipelago and maritime insights.

Abstract

Audit quality became an important issue after a global corporate scandal that revealed auditors' inability to detect financial statement fraud, leading to corporate bankruptcies and scandals. Auditors' deviant behavior, such as inindependence and incompetence in the implementation of duties, has the potential to damage audit quality. This study aims to analyze the factors that cause auditor behavior to deviate and their impact on audit quality in Jakarta, Indonesia. The factors analyzed include time budget pressure, task complexity, client importance, and organizational commitment. This survey involved 103 respondents who were selected by purposive sampling. The results showed that time budget pressure, client importance, and organizational commitment contributed to auditor deviant behavior, while task complexity had no significant effect. The auditor's deviant behavior has a negative impact on the quality of audits, which in turn can damage public trust in the audit profession. This study provides insights for regulators and public accounting firms to identify factors that affect auditor behavior and audit quality degradation, and develop approaches to minimize deviant behavior without sacrificing audit value for external users.

Abstract

Turmeric (Curcuma longa) contains the active compound curcumin, which has antiprotozoal, antimalarial, anti-inflammatory effects. This study aims to ignite the potential of curcumin, which has the potential as an antiprotozoal through inhibition of Plasmodium Falciparim replication through the topoisomerase enzyme. The method used in this study is the One Shot Experimental Study, with several stages including preparation of active compounds, prediction of active substance binding energy, prediction of compound binding, molecular docking, prediction of ADME (absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion) and toxicity. The results show that curcumin binds to the same site as Artemisinin, both also interact with the topoisomerase VI protein and provide similar inhibitory effects. ADME predictions show that curcumin has good potential for use as an oral drug, with both LD50s included in class 4. The binding affinity and bioactivity of curcumin are lower than Artemisinin but are still considered to have the potential as a safer antiprotozoal alternative.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence and formulate strategies to meet the needs of functional positions of fisheries supervisors and assistant fisheries supervisors in supporting the Blue Economy Policy of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries to be optimal. The research method used is a qualitative approach. The aspects of analysis include the state of work, the use of working time, and the goals that must be achieved based on the theory of workload indicators and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. The results showed that the fulfillment of functional position needs was not optimal due to several factors, namely 1) the level of skills and understanding of some JF Waskan and Assistant Waskan was still quite low; 2) limited formation because there was no determination of latest position map; 3) Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) that differed between the center and UPT PSDKP; 4) fisheries supervision was still carried out manually with physical inspection of fishing vessels. For strategies to fulfill the needs of functional positions, several suggestions were formulated, namely 1) preparation of Human Capital Development Plan (HCDP) as a basis for training and development; 2) determination of the formation of the results of calculating the needs of functional positions in the latest position map; 3) improvement and refinement of SOPs; and 4) development of an independent fisheries monitoring system with risk assessment. Managerial implications are outlined in the priority strategy, while the highest factor is formation through accelerating the determination of the latest position map.
