AUDIENSI: Jurnal Pendidikan dan Perkembangan Anak is a scientific publication forum that focuses on accommodating children education and learning issues such as curriculum, learning strategies, media and playing tools in learning, teacher professionalism in children education, educational management for early childhood and primary school, children education policies as well as children growth and development. AUDIENSI is a journal managed by the Early Childhood Teacher Education Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana Salatiga. This journal is published twice a year, in April and October using a double blind review system. This journal is open to students, lecturers, teachers, researchers and practitioners in the field of education and child development.

Abstract

Verbal abuse by parents significantly impacts the socio-emotional development of early childhood. At this critical age, children build their self-confidence and social relationships. This study aims to examine the effects of verbal abuse on children’s emotional, social, and cognitive aspects. The research employs a qualitative method, utilizing in-depth interviews, observations, and case study analysis. Findings reveal that children exposed to verbal abuse are at high risk of emotional disturbances such as anxiety, depression, and insecurity, leading to social withdrawal and poor academic performance. Moreover, verbal abuse damages parent-child relationships and hinders the development of children’s communication skills. The study concludes with a call for parents to foster a positive and supportive environment for their children. Recommendations include raising parental awareness and education to prevent verbal abuse and promote healthy child development.

Abstract

Social behavior in children is influenced by various internal and external factors, especially in new or specific situations such as social events. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing changes in social behavior in children who are usually active and cheerful but become reserved in certain circumstances. The research was conducted with a qualitative descriptive approach, utilizing interviews with teachers and parents, as well as observations of children's behavior during a birthday event at a kindergarten in Bandar Lampung. The findings reveal that situational factors, such as a noisy environment, unfamiliar social settings, and a lack of emotional support, contribute to the observed behavioral changes. Children who generally exhibit high levels of interaction and enthusiasm in class showed signs of withdrawal, hesitation, and discomfort during the event. The results also indicate the significant role of emotional regulation and social anxiety in shaping children's responses to new situations. This study underscores the importance of early intervention by teachers and parents in fostering emotional resilience and providing a supportive environment for children in social contexts. These findings offer practical insights for educators and caregivers to better understand and address the dynamic nature of children's social behavior in varied settings.

Abstract

Literacy corner or commonly called reading corner is the utilization of classroom corner as an extension of library, which is attempted to increase children’s interest in reading. Increasing children’s interest in reading will impact various aspects of their growth and development especially in terms of language. In early childhood, increasing interest reading  will be an efforts to prepare students for further education. The purpose of this study was to find out how reading corner affects increasing children’s interest in reading aged 5-6 years, and how reading corner is implemented to increase children’s interest in reading aged 5-6 years. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative, data collection was conducted through observation and documentation conducted on children in group B of one of the kindergartens in Salatiga. The results of the analysis showed an increase in children’s interest in reading with the existence of literacy corner which was designed with effective program and attractive arrangement for students. From the first week of the study showed the number of visitors of group B was 7 students, it appeared in the fourth week it increased to 21 students who visited and utilized literacy corner. Therefore, literacy corner is very effective to be used as a means to increase children’s interest in reading aged 5-6 years.

Abstract

Differentiated learning is a learning concept that can be applied in schools with a diversity of students. In this differentiated learning, the role of the teacher as a facilitator is very important in an effort to meet the diverse learning needs of students. By knowing the characteristics of students at the beginning, teachers can become a reference in preparing learning plans. The aim of this research is to describe and explore the implementation of differentiated learning as one of the teacher's efforts to meet the learning needs of students with a diversity of students within the framework of an independent curriculum. Through this differentiated learning, the teacher first carries out an initial assessment as a form of finding out the characteristics of the students. So, then the teacher can prepare an appropriate learning plan to achieve the determined learning objectives. The components of differentiation learning are content differentiation, process differentiation, product differentiation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the PAUD (Early Childhood Education) planning strategy implemented in PAUD Gemilang, Palangka Raya City, in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture (Permendikbud) No. 137 of 2014. The method used in this study is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. Data collection was carried out through direct observation, interviews, and documentation. PAUD Gemilang, which was established in 2014 and managed by the Harati Foundation, is a private kindergarten educational institution located on Jalan Bukit Raya, Palangka Raya City. The research findings show that the planning strategy in PAUD Gemilang includes the preparation of work programs for the short, medium, and long term, as well as the provision of adequate facilities and infrastructure to support learning. The implementation of this strategy aims to realize the vision and mission of PAUD Gemilang in providing quality education services for early childhood.

Abstract

Menurut UUD 1945 Bab XII setiap orang memiliki hak yang sama dalam memperoleh pendidikan. Pendidikan inklusif merupakan suatu sistem pendidikan yang memungkinkan seluruh peserta didik, baik yang memiliki kebutuhan khusus maupun yang memiliki potensi kecerdasan luar biasa, untuk belajar bersama dalam satu lingkungan pendidikan yang sama dengan peserta didik lainnya. Salah satu pembelajaran untuk anak yang dapat membantu anak-anak dengan kebutuhan khusus dapat mengembangkan keterampilan mereka melalui pembelajaran seni rupa, salah satunya adalah kegiatan menggambar. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik pengambilan data yaitu observasi, wawancara, serta analisis dokumen. Berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh diketahui bahwa TK Putra Jaya sudah melakukan pendidikan yang inklusif dan terus mengupayakan yang terbaik dengan melibatkan berbagai pihak. Selain melibatkan pihak lain, TK Putra Jaya juga melakukan strategi pembelajaran untuk anak berkebutuhan khusus dengan kategori ADHD secara individu, dengan cara memahami gaya belajar, melakukan pemetaan berupa akomodasi dan modifikasi pembelajaran mampu meningkatkan kemampuan anak.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to analzye the contents Youtube videos called Numberblocks on children’s acquisition of numbers. Numberblocks videos have the highest scores on the content analysis which are the accuracy, age-appropriateness, engagement, and repetition (score = 5) with the lowest scores on pedagogical approaches: real-world connections (score = 3) and interactivity (score = 1). The average score of the linguistic analysis is 4.15 with the lowest score on the language clarity especially on the pace of speech. Numberblocks videos have the perfect average score 5 on the presentation analysis. And in the visual analysis, numbers are mostly represented in various ways (score = 4,5) but real-world examples are rarely used to illustrate number concepts (score = 2,5). It can be concluded that Numberblocks videos are successful to drag young learners’ concept of numbers into the blocks and this helps their acquisition with numbers. However, parents' guidance is needed so that young learners will have more interaction and correlate the idea into real world situations and examples.

Abstract

Every child has the potential to be creative. In the context of education, creativity can be fostered by providing early-age stimulation through activities appropriate to the child’s developmental stage. Their creative abilities can develop optimally. However, in practice, many children’s play activities are still focused on worksheets, resulting in a learning process that is less engaging and tends to be boring. The learning approach using loose parts media is a teaching method that utilizes natural materials found around us that can be separated and combined into a whole, can be aligned, easily blended with other materials, and are practical for carrying and moving. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive qualitative type. The research subjects are the group B children at the Cristian Kindergarten 1 Satya Wacana Salatiga, using data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification analysis. The results of the study indicate that loose parts media can enhance creativity in early childhood. When children are provided with a variety of play materials, they can realize their creative ideas, imagination, and stimulate their curiosity.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi telah membawa perubahan signifikan dalam berbagai aspek kehidupan, termasuk pendidikan dasar. Penelitian ini mengkaji implementasi dan persepsi terhadap pemanfaatan teknologi dalam pembelajaran di sekolah dasar, dampak positif dan negatifnya, serta peran penting sekolah dan orang tua dalam membimbing peserta didik. Hasil survei menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas sekolah dasar telah mengintegrasikan teknologi dalam proses belajar-mengajar, seperti penggunaan PowerPoint dan proyektor, yang terbukti meningkatkan minat dan antusiasme siswa. Para pendidik dan kepala sekolah menyadari perlunya adaptasi metode pengajaran agar sesuai dengan perkembangan teknologi, sehingga siswa tidak hanya menjadi konsumen pasif, tetapi juga mampu memanfaatkan teknologi secara efektif dan bijaksana. Meskipun teknologi menawarkan kemudahan akses informasi, pembelajaran interaktif, dan efisiensi administrasi, terdapat pula tantangan seperti potensi penurunan fokus, kesenjangan digital, serta isu keamanan data dan penyebaran informasi yang tidak akurat. Oleh karena itu, penanaman nilai-nilai kebijaksanaan, etika, dan tanggung jawab dalam penggunaan teknologi menjadi krusial. Kolaborasi antara sekolah dan orang tua sangat diperlukan untuk membekali siswa dengan kemampuan memilah informasi dan menghindari dampak negatif teknologi, demi terciptanya generasi yang cerdas dan bertanggung jawab di era digital.
