The term community service refers to activities that utilize relevant science and technology to advance the welfare of the community and educate the nations life. This journal publishes articles with topics such as theoretical innovations or methods or strategies for implementing community service activities, community service management innovations, university-community partnership strengthening programs, as well as other topics related to the impact and best practices in the implementation of community service to society. Praxis accepts article submissions from all over the world. All accepted articles will be published for payment of an article processing fee, and will be available free of charge to all readers with worldwide visibility and coverage. Praxis accepts article manuscripts with the following types Research Article: contains a quantitative, qualitative, or combination method study that shows the impact of community service projects on local communities, students, lecturers, or institutions. Reflective Essays contain sharp reflections on current issues or ideas related to community service based on literature. Projects with Prospects contains a description of the early stages of a community service project with an initial indication of its impact long-term evaluation plan a plan for how the project will remain sustainable; and best practices for readers to emulate. Book Reviews contains reviews of books related to community service which are more than just content descriptions, in order to analyze and extract their implications for theory and practice.

Abstract

Perawatan jenazah adalah tindakan yang perlu untuk dipelajari karena dalam agama islam hukumnya adalah wajib apabila tidak terdapat orang yang melaksanakan. Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman tentang perawatan jenazah secara teori dan meningkatkan pemahaman tentang perawatan jenazah secara praktek di Pondok Pesantren Nurul Mushofa Desa Tambak Lekok dan MTs Darun Najah Desa Tampung Lekok Pasuruan. Riset dasar aktivitas pengabdian ini dilaksanakan menggunakan metode Participatory Action Research. Hasil dari pengabdian ini menunjukkan bahwa santri di Pondok Pesantren Nurul Mushofa Desa Tambak Lekok dan siswa MTs Darun Najah Desa Tampung Lekok Pasuruan meningkat pemahaman tentang perawatan jenazah teori serta praktek.

Abstract

The research aims to overcome the problem of conventional learning methods that are less effective in attracting interest and increasing understanding of MI Ma’arif Candirejo students through the application of game based learning methods. Through a series of specially designed educational games, this research seeks to create a fun and interactive learning environment, so that it is expected to increase student motivation and involvement in the learning process. This activity involves students at MI Ma’arif Candirejo. Learning activities were carried out in three meetings with a focus on different educational games, including color concepts, types of lines, and basic mathematical operations. The result showed that the application of Game Based Learning was able to increase students’ enthusiasm, learning motivation, concept understanding, and participation in learning activities. Student reported higher enthusiasm and ease in understanding the learning materials. The homeroom teacher and principal also observed an increase in student engagement in the classroom.

Abstract

Ecoprint is a natural dyeing technique that uses plant materials like stems, leaves, and flowers to create patterns on fabric. The training activity, conducted on 9 August 2024, aimed to teach participants how to create ecoprint designs using the pounding technique. The training took place in Sawah Hamlet Hall, Krambilsawit Village, Saptosari District, Gunungkidul. It was part of the KKN 127 Batch 144 collaboration between UIN Sunan Kalijaga and UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. The program aimed to empower local women by leveraging their natural resources and fostering creativity. The ecoprint training was a success, as evidenced by the enthusiastic participation of the women. They found the program valuable for developing their creativity and skills. The training not only helped them learn a new technique but also encouraged them to appreciate and utilize the natural resources in their community.

Abstract

The independent curriculum is one of the efforts or tools of the national education system to improve the quality of education in Indonesia. This encourages formal schools, both primary and secondary education, to participate in implementing the P5 programme. SMPIT Darul Mutaqin, which is located in Parung, Bogor Regency, has implemented the Merdeka curriculum since 2021.The purpose of this research is to find out how to optimise extracurricular activities in realising the P5 Pancasila Student Profile. Case study at SMPIT Darul Mutaqin Parung, Bogor Regency. This research uses a qualitative approach and uses an analytical descriptive method. Data collection was carried out through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The informants of this research are the Principal, Head of Curriculum, Curriculum Coordinator, PAI Teacher, and Students. After that, the data was analysed with the stages of data reduction, then data presentation and conclusion drawing. Furthermore, the data were tested for validity through triangulation of sources and techniques.The results showed that the optimisation of extracurricular activities in strengthening the Pancasila student profile (P5) at SMPIT Darul Mutaqin Bogor Regency has been running well. This is evidenced by the implementation of the mustaqili programme and workshops running smoothly, and it is proven that the Pancasila Learner Profile indicators can be well familiarised through assessments carried out formatively and summatively to measure students' attitudes, knowledge, and skills, as well as evaluations by schools and government facilitators to improve the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in order to strengthen the Pancasila learner profile through extracurricular activities.

Abstract

Waste management remains a significant challenge due to inefficient waste disposal methods, including in Dukuh Perengkembang, Balecatur Village, Sleman, Yogyakarta, where the accumulation of organic waste has become an urgent issue following the closure of the Piyungan Integrated Waste Disposal Site in Yogyakarta. The lack of awareness and improper waste sorting hinder its effectiveness. To address this, students from Community Service Program (CSP) Group 50 took the initiative to provide composting training to convert organic waste into compost, which not only reduces the burden on landfills. The implementation method includes counseling on making composters, practical sessions on creating composters, and monitoring and evaluation of their use. The training participants are housewives in the Dukuh Perengkembang area. As a result of the training, there was an increase in knowledge about waste sorting, and participants were able to use the composters they made to reduce the volume of waste disposed of at the waste disposal site

Abstract

The rampant cases of sexual violence and bullying have raised concerns in the community. Sexual violence and bullying can happen to anyone, anywhere, and anytime. This article contains the socialization process related to the phenomenon of sexual violence and bullying in the department of Early Childhood Education environment at Jakarta State University. The target of this socialization is 32 of 1st semester students. The purpose of this socialization is to increase student awareness of the phenomenon of sexual violence and bullying. This socialization began with the presentation of material, including cases of sexual violence and bullying in Indonesia that were published in online news. Furthermore, students were invited to discuss the two phenomena from their perspectives. Students seemed enthusiastic and agreed that sexual violence and bullying must be considered carefully so that they do not become victims or perpetrators. In addition to the presentation of material in a classical manner, socialization was also carried out by installing posters in the department of Early Childhood Education environment at Jakarta State University.

Abstract

The problem of lack of access to education and quality of education for children at the An-Nahl Alfarizqi Barkah Foundation, Desa Leuweung Kolot, is a significant challenge. This is influenced by parents' low level of education and a less supportive environment. Community service activities through the Sustainable Management Capstone program with a direct instructional method, which is carried out through discussion and practice, aim to build strong, disciplined, and adaptive characters to create an environment that supports sustainable character education. Learning is focused on seven main programs, namely Environment, English, Outbound, Agriculture, Mathematics, and Pancasila and Citizenship Education which are guided by field supervisors. Overall, the results of community service activities through the Sustainable Management Capstone program have added to the provision of skills and values ​​that are relevant to the education of children at the An-Nahl Alfarizqi Barkah Foundation.

Abstract

Madrasah Diniyah Takhmiliyah Awaliyah (MDTA) adalah Madrasah Diniyah setingkat SD/MI untuk siswa-siswi sekolah Dasar. Peran Madrasah Diniyah Takhmiliyah Awaliyah dalam menyelenggarakan pendidikan keagamaan sangat berarti bagi masyarakat sekitar, hal ini dikarenakan sebagian besar anak-anak yang berada di lingkungan peran Madrasah Diniyah Takhmiliyah Awaliyah tersebut tidak sepenuhnya mendapat pengetahuan agama di sekolah mereka masing-masing. Sama halnya dengan Madrasah Diniyah Takhmiliyah Awaliyah (MDTA) di daerah-daerah lain, MDTA di Sawah Tangah juga mengajarkan materi-materi bidang keagamaaan kepada siswa dimana yang paling utama adalah membaca al-qur’an. Sayangnya, dari hasil pantauan dan pengamatan yang dilakukan oleh mahasiswa KKN dari UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar kebanyakan siswa-siswi di MDTA Nagari Sawah Tangah masih belum lancar memahami al-qur’an terutama dalam hal membaca, mengenali, melafazkan huruf hijaiyah dan menentukan tajwid pada setiap bacaan al-qur’an tersebut. Tujuan pelaksanaan kegiatan peningkatan kemampuan literasi membaca dan menulis ayat al-qur’an siswa MDTA Nagari Sawah Tangah adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca dan menulis ayat al-qur’an siswa di MDTA Nagari Sawah Tangah. Pelaksanaan kegiatan literasi membaca dan menulis ayat al-qur’an pada siswa MDTA Nagari Sawah Tangah dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode metode ceramah, tanya jawab, pembiasaan, dan latihan. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 30 Agustus-9November 2024 yang dilaksanakan setiap hari jum’at dan sabtu pada pukul 14.00-15.30 Wib. Hasil dari pelaksanaan kegiatan peningkatan kemampuan literasi membaca dan menulis ayat al-qur’an siswa Madrasah Diniyah Takmiliyah Awaliyah (MDTA) nagari sawah tangah yaitu siswa sudah lancar dalam mempelajari dan memahami al-qur’an. Kemampuan membaca dan menulis siswa yang awalnya rendah setelah dilakukan kegiatan ini kemampuan siswa menjadi meningkat. Jadi dapat disimpulkan bahwa dengan menerapkan kegiatan tersebut dapat meningkatkan literasi siswa dalam membaca dan menulis terutama pada ayat al-qur’an.

Abstract

Nagari Salimpaung, located near Mount Marapi, is characterized by its cool and fertile environment, making it highly suitable for agriculture, particularly vegetable farming. However, agricultural and household activities in the region generate a significant amount of organic waste, including onion peels, which are often underutilized and contribute to environmental pollution. A viable solution to address this issue is converting the waste into liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) through a fermentation process. This community engagement activity was conducted by students of UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar during their community service program (KKN) on November 5, 2024, at SMPN 3 Salimpaung. A Community-Based Research (CBR) approach was applied, involving the school community in every stage, from problem identification to evaluation. The activity consisted of three stages: (1) Planning, which included discussions with teachers and students to identify environmental issues and select suitable solutions; (2) Implementation, which involved educating participants on organic waste management, demonstrating the LOF production process, and facilitating hands-on practice by students; and (3) Evaluation, which encompassed monitoring the fermentation process and assessing the quality of the resulting fertilizer. The results indicated that the eighth-grade students successfully participated in the socialization and independently produced liquid organic fertilizer. The fertilizer showed potential for application in local agriculture and home gardening. This activity not only enhanced students’ understanding of organic waste management but also equipped them with practical skills for sustainable environmental practices. The program is expected to serve as a starting point for broader waste management initiatives in Nagari Salimpaung.

Abstract

Gymnastics is physical exercise that is deliberately and planned, arranged systematically to shape and develop the body in harmony. This activity has become a popular sport among the public. Maintaining physical health is very important for the entire community, therefore we carry out a real work program, namely training assistance for gymnastics instructors. The aim of the gymnastics instructor training assistance activity every Sunday morning which is held by PLB students at Jorong Guguak Gadang Nagari Padang Magek every Sunday morning, is so that children can become gymnastics instructors at their school. This research method uses a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, the research involves the participation of children and PLB students. The conclusion from the results of this service is the implementation of gymnastics instructor training and the achievement of mastery and teaching of gymnastics for children in Padang Magek.
