Abstract

Communication is an important element in the learning process in higher education because it determines the success of material delivery and student involvement. However, in practice, there are still various communication obstacles between lecturers and students that have an impact on learning effectiveness. This study aims to describe the communication strategies of lecturers and students in the learning process and identify the factors that support and hinder the effectiveness of academic communication in the Office Administration Education Study Program, State University of Makassar. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study type of research. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is carried out by the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions and verification. The results of the study showed that lecturers applied communication strategies through the use of clear language, a variety of learning methods, providing feedback, and the creation of a dialogical classroom atmosphere. Students show communication strategies through participation in discussions, expressions of opinions, and responses to learning materials, although there are still some students who are passive. Communication interactions tend to be two-way, but under certain conditions, one-way communication is still found. Factors supporting communication effectiveness include lecturer openness, student motivation, and conducive classroom atmosphere, while inhibiting factors include differences in communication skills and limited learning time. This research contributes to the development of communication science and education by providing an understanding of the importance of communication strategies in improving the quality of learning in higher education.

Abstract

Da’wah as a process of religious communication requires effective message delivery strategies to engage the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor dimensions of the audience. This study aims to analyze the use of storytelling as a persuasive tool in da’wah by examining the role of narrative structure, emotional elements, and rhetorical approaches in enhancing the effectiveness of religious messages. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method with a literature review approach and content analysis techniques applied to various relevant academic publications. The findings indicate that storytelling functions as a strategic persuasive instrument through the principles of coherence (logical narrative flow) and fidelity (alignment with the audience’s lived experiences). In traditional contexts, the use of stories of prophets and past communities provides strong educational and emotional value. Meanwhile, in the digital era, the transformation of da’wah through platforms such as TikTok, YouTube, and WhatsApp demonstrates that authentic and relatable audio-visual narratives are more effective in increasing audience attention and message retention than conventional instructional methods. This study concludes that storytelling represents an adaptive communicative solution for preachers in addressing the challenges of the digital information flow, enabling Islamic messages to be internalized in an inclusive and engaging manner by modern society.

Abstract

Moral development in school-aged children is strongly influenced by the quality of communication within family and school environments. Persuasive communication is regarded as an effective approach in moral education as it emphasizes emotional engagement, dialogical interaction, and voluntary acceptance of values. This study aims to analyze the role of persuasive communication in delivering moral messages to school-aged children.This research employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method. Data were collected from scientific journals and relevant academic sources related to persuasivecommunication and moral education. The analysis was conducted through descriptive qualitative techniques by synthesizing key findings from previous studies.The findings indicate that persuasive communication supports the internalization of moral values when applied through empathetic interaction, role modeling, and consistent message delivery by parents and teachers. This study concludes that persuasive communication is a strategic approach to strengthening moral education for school-aged children.

Abstract

This study explores the role of TikTok’s algorithm as a digital gatekeeping actor in shaping the agenda of environmental issues within the online public sphere. With its massive user base, TikTok functions not merely as an entertainment platform, but as a central arena for meaning production and the circulation of environmental discourse. Employing a qualitative netnographic approach, the research examines how TikTok’s recommendation system prioritizes content based on virality, emotional appeal, and visual attractiveness. The findings reveal that the algorithm amplifies simplified and affective environmental narratives, while marginalizing analytical, structural, and scientifically grounded content. Moreover, personalization mechanisms generate homogeneous information spaces that reinforce filter bubbles and restrict the diversity of perspectives. These results demonstrate that algorithms are not neutral tools, but symbolic forces that actively shape public perceptions of environmental issues. Therefore, adaptive environmental communication strategies are required strategies that engage with algorithmic logic without sacrificing depth, accuracy, and the educational orientation of the message.

Abstract

The makeover service business has evolved into a solution for individuals who need professional assistance in enhancing their appearance and self-confidence, particularly for important occasions such as dates. This research aims to analyze the makeover service business concept that integrates effective business communication with comprehensive appearance consultation services. The method used is literature review and conceptual analysis of business communication strategies in the makeover service industry. The analysis results show that personal, empathetic, and two-way business communication is the key to success in building trust and customer satisfaction. The services offered include style consultation, professional makeup, outfit selection, hair styling, and education on proper dating etiquette. Through a holistic approach that combines aesthetic and psychological aspects, this business provides significant added value with a target market of individuals aged 18-40 years who need professional preparation for dates. Marketing communication strategies through social media, content marketing, and word of mouth have proven effective in reaching the target market. SWOT analysis shows unique concepts and comprehensive services as the main strengths, although facing challenges in niche market segmentation. In conclusion, the integration of effective business communication with quality makeover services creates a sustainable business model with strong differentiation in the beauty service market.

Abstract

Social conflict is a phenomenon that often occurs in people's lives due to differences in interests, values, perceptions, and ineffective communication. If not managed properly, social conflicts have the potential to cause prolonged tensions and disrupt community harmony. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of empathic communication as a social conflict resolution strategy in Sombalabella Village, Takalar Regency. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type of research. The data collection technique was carried out through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation of village officials, community leaders, and residents involved in the process of resolving social conflicts. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman interactive model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that empathic communication applied through an attitude of listening, understanding the feelings and viewpoints of the conflicting parties, and open dialogue is able to reduce tension and encourage the achievement of mutual agreement. The effectiveness of empathic communication is supported by the active role of village officials and community leaders as well as a strong deliberation culture, although there are still obstacles in the form of limited communication skills and the emotional condition of the conflicting parties. This research contributes to the development of social communication science by emphasizing the importance of empathic communication as a humanist and participatory approach in the resolution of social conflicts at the local community level.
