Abstract

A major obstacle for community-based tourism villages in Indonesia is the digital divide, particularly in the form of limited content production skills and a lack of supporting equipment. This community service program addresses these obstacles in Pancoh Tourism Village, Turi, Sleman, through a three-pronged intervention model: entrepreneurial motivation training, hospitality and destination management training, and applied digital content production training accompanied by equipment grants. The method employed a participatory action research approach in four stages: needs assessment, intervention, mentoring, and reflection. The activities were carried out on 1–3 April 2026 and attended by 16 participants from Pokdarwis, local SMEs, and community members. Resource persons were drawn from academia, a senior hospitality practitioner with 40 years of experience, and a public communications and journalism practitioner. Equipment grants comprising a DJI Mic Mini Wireless, a DJI Osmo Mobile 7, and operational support items were formally handed over through an official transfer document. Results indicate that the combination of knowledge and technology transfer is effective in closing the digital marketing capability gap among tourism village managers, as evidenced by the production of activity content published on TikTok and Google Drive. The practical implication is the importance of designing community service programs that go beyond training and also provide technological infrastructure as leverage for sustainability

Abstract

Stunting remains a national priority health issue due to its impact on physical growth, cognitive development, productivity, and the quality of future human resources. Health cadres play a strategic role in stunting prevention through education, outreach, and community support. However, limited access to engaging and accessible educational media often hinders the delivery of information to the public. This activity aims to improve the knowledge and capacity of health cadres in stunting prevention efforts by utilizing the Si Ceting application as an information and education medium. The methods used include outreach, demonstrations of application usage, support, and evaluation through pre- and post-tests. The material provided includes the definition of stunting, stunting prevention in adolescence, pregnant women, infants aged 0–6 months, children aged 6–24 months, the environment and parenting patterns, and monitoring child growth and development. The results of the activity showed an increase in cadre knowledge after participating in training and using the Si Ceting application. The average cadre knowledge score increased from 96 in the pre-test to 98.19 in the post-test. Furthermore, health cadres expressed high enthusiasm for using the app as an educational tool due to its ease of use, comprehensive material, and support for educational videos and child growth and development monitoring features. It can be concluded that the use of the Si Ceting app is effective in increasing the capacity and knowledge of health cadres regarding stunting prevention. This app has the potential to become a digital educational tool that supports health promotion and stunting prevention activities in the community. Keywords: Stunting, health cadres, Si Ceting

Abstract

The increasing demand for energy, accompanied by high consumption of fossil fuels, has driven the need to develop alternative energy sources that are environmentally friendly and sustainable. One alternative energy source with significant potential is biomass derived from wood waste, which can be processed into biomass briquettes. Kalianyar Village, Terara District, East Lombok Regency, has substantial wood waste potential; however, its utilization remains suboptimal due to the community's limited knowledge of processing waste into value-added products. This activity aimed to enhance community knowledge and understanding regarding the utilization of wood waste into biomass briquettes as an alternative fuel. The method employed was a pre-test and post-test approach through socialization and demonstration activities on biomass briquette production, which included field observation, briquette production trials, socialization, hands-on practice, and evaluation. The respondents consisted of 20 residents of Kalianyar Village. The results showed that community understanding increased from 25% before the socialization to 90% after participating in the socialization and demonstration. In addition to improving community knowledge, this activity demonstrated that wood waste has the potential to be processed into an environmentally friendly and economically valuable alternative fuel. Thus, the utilization of wood waste into biomass briquettes can serve as a solution for reducing waste, supporting the use of alternative energy, and potentially opening business opportunities for communities based on local resources.

Abstract

Birth spacing through postpartum family planning is an important component of maternal, infant, and family health protection in communities at risk of stunting. This community service program aimed to improve the knowledge of postpartum mothers, couples of reproductive age, families, and the Danau Tras Village community about postpartum family planning as a strategy to prevent closely spaced pregnancies and support stunting reduction. The program used participatory health education, health services, information media installation, discussion, and question-and-answer sessions. It was conducted in Danau Tras Village, Simpang Kiri District, Subulussalam City in May 2026, involving 20 community participants and an implementation team consisting of lecturers, midwifery students of Akademi Kebidanan Medica Bakti Persada, and village stakeholders. The education covered the meaning of postpartum family planning, the benefits of healthy birth spacing, contraceptive options, family roles, and the need to consult health workers. The activity showed that community education can serve as an initial medium to strengthen family awareness of healthy pregnancy planning. Participants received health checks, obtained information about contraception, and joined discussions on barriers to postpartum contraceptive use. The program produced a concise education model that can be followed up by village midwives and posyandu cadres through repeated counseling, monitoring of postpartum mothers, and home visits for families who have not selected a contraceptive method.

Abstract

Transparency and public participation are prerequisites for village governance that supports the Village SDGs, especially inclusive, accountable, and responsive institutions. This community service program aimed to improve the understanding of village officials, community leaders, and residents of Sindangheula Village regarding public information disclosure, service procedures, citizens' rights, and spaces for participation in village development. The activity was conducted at Sindangheula Village Hall, Pabuaran District, Serang Regency, on 25 November 2025 and involved 32 participants. The method used a normative-empirical approach through regulatory review, observation of village services, unstructured interviews, legal counseling, focused discussion, and evaluation using an observation sheet and reflective questions. The success indicators covered participants' ability to identify village information channels, explain the right to public information, recognize participation forums, and formulate service follow-up actions. Initial problem mapping identified four priority issues, namely limited use of the village website, uneven access to information, residents' hesitation to interact with village officials, and suboptimal participation in village forums. After the counseling session, 24 participants, or 75% of all participants, actively asked questions, gave responses, or shared service experiences. Participants were also able to identify the function of the village website, describe mechanisms for submitting aspirations, and propose recommendations to strengthen information boards, digital media, and deliberation agendas. The outputs included counseling materials, a partner-problem matrix, evaluation notes, and recommendations for improving information services. The program indicates that needs-based legal counseling can serve as a measurable initial intervention to strengthen the relationship between village government and residents in achieving the Village SDGs.

Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health problem and a national priority because it affects physical growth, cognitive development, productivity, and quality of life in the future. Limited maternal knowledge of child nutrition, particularly animal-source protein intake and use of the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Handbook, contributes to stunting. Preliminary observations in Kekeri Timur Hamlet revealed the presence of children with stunting and nutritional problems, along with inadequate maternal understanding of child growth monitoring using the MCH Handbook. This community service program aimed to improve mothers' knowledge and skills in monitoring children's nutritional status through MCH Handbook-based stunting education. The activity was conducted in Kekeri Timur for 15 mothers who had children with stunting or nutritional problems. The intervention included a pretest, health education delivered through lectures and leaflets, practical training on using the MCH Handbook, a posttest, and dietary interviews. Evaluation was conducted by comparing participants’ knowledge categories before and after the intervention and assessing their ability to interpret growth monitoring charts in the MCH Handbook. Descriptively, the results showed an increase in participants' knowledge. Prior to the intervention, most participants had poor knowledge (66.7%), and after the intervention, participants with good knowledge increased to 66.7%, with no participants remaining in the poor category (0%). Interview findings indicated that most children consumed monotonous diets dominated by rice, vegetable broth, tofu, and tempeh, with limited consumption of animal-source foods. Following practical training, most participants were able to interpret growth charts and independently monitor their children’s nutritional status. Descriptively, MCH Handbook-based stunting education effectively improved mothers' knowledge and skills in monitoring child growth. Similar programs should be continuously implemented through community health services and health volunteers to support sustainable child growth monitoring.

Abstract

This community service program was based on the needs of senior high school and vocational high school students at the Indonesian School of Kota Kinabalu (SIKK) in Sabah, Malaysia, regarding planning for higher education and career pathways. Many students are children of Indonesian migrant workers who face limited access to higher education information, document-related considerations, family economic constraints, and pressure in choosing study programs. The program aimed to strengthen career literacy, support the exploration of interests, and guide students in preparing follow-up plans for higher education. The activity was conducted on November 11, 2025, through collaboration between the Indonesian Educational Psychology Association and the Social Work Study Program of Universiti Malaysia Sabah. The activity involved 24 SMA-SMK SIKK students from grades XI and XII, divided into four small groups. Each group attended one 90-minute counseling session with a facilitator-to-participant ratio of 1:6. The method included needs assessment, group counseling, reflective discussion, career interest mapping, higher education information sharing, and personal action planning. Evaluation was conducted through written reflection sheets, facilitator observation notes, and evaluative discussion with the school counseling teacher. Achievement indicators included students’ ability to list alternative universities or study programs, prepare an initial interest map, identify personal and family barriers, and formulate follow-up actions. The evaluation showed that 22 of 24 participants listed alternative universities or study programs, 21 prepared an initial interest map, 24 identified personal and family barriers, and 23 wrote follow-up plans. These findings provide an initial basis for strengthening higher education planning and career literacy among diaspora students, although long-term evaluation remains necessary.

Abstract

The agricultural sector is strategic for food security and regional economic development, yet productivity in many Indonesian regions is hindered by fertilization practices that do not reflect actual soil fertility. Many farmers still apply conventional, experience-based fertilization without considering crop nutrient requirements or local soil characteristics, leading to inefficient fertilizer use and reduced land productivity. This community service program aimed to improve farmers’ knowledge and capacity to implement soil analysis–based fertilization technology to increase crop productivity and farm income. The program was implemented in Tongowai Village, Tidore, North Maluku, through extension activities, technical training, field demonstrations, follow-up assistance, and introduction of soil fertility analysis as the basis for precise fertilizer recommendations. Pre–post intervention evaluation showed quantitative improvements: average farmer knowledge scores rose from 48.2 to 79.5 (an increase of 65%); average chemical fertilizer use per hectare decreased from 420 kg to 330 kg (a 21.4% reduction); and maize yield on demonstration plots increased from 3.2 t/ha to 4.1 t/ha (a 28.1% increase). Fertilizer-use efficiency (yield per kg of fertilizer) improved from 7.6 kg/kg to 12.4 kg/kg. Short-term economic impact was observed as a mean farmer income increase of 18% for participating groups in one cropping season. These results indicate that soil analysis–based fertilization can enhance farmer knowledge, reduce inefficient fertilizer inputs, and improve productivity and income in the short term. Long-term environmental and socioeconomic impacts require continued monitoring and larger-scale effectiveness studies

Abstract

Students in the Sports Coaching Education Study Program are prospective professionals being prepared to work as sports coaches at various training levels. However, there is still a gap between students' academic competencies and workforce needs, especially in designing training programs, training periodization, evaluating athletes' physical condition, applying sports science, coaching communication, and professional ethics. This Community Service activity aims to improve sports students' competencies so that they have the knowledge and skills to support their profession as professional coaches. The method used was participatory training through material delivery, interactive discussions, case studies, training program simulations, and evaluation using pre-tests and post-tests. The activity took place on 18 June 2026 in the Universitas Jambi Hall with 39 students from the Sports Coaching Education program participating. Evaluation was conducted using a questionnaire comprising 50 multiple-choice questions based on the training material. The results showed an increase in the participants' average scores from 61.58 in the pre-test to 86.45 in the post-test, an increase of 24.87 points. The greatest improvements were seen in understanding training periodization, designing training programs, and applying sports science. Besides boosting knowledge, this activity increased active participation, motivation to learn, and students' readiness to take on roles as professional sports coaches. Thus, the training proved effective in strengthening the competencies of future coaches and can serve as a model for the sustainable development of student skills through further training, field practice, and professional mentoring

Abstract

Materi pelatihan mencakup greetings and welcoming guests, handling reservations, giving information and directions, offering help and services, handling complaints, serta tour guide communication. Kata kunci: pendidikan vokasi, bahasa Inggris, English for Hospitality, komunikasi perhotelan, kompetensi kerja. AbstractThe demand for human resources with English communication skills that meet the requirements of the hospitality industry is increasing as the tourism and hospitality sectors continue to grow. However, English instruction at Vocational High Schools (SMK) often focuses on general topics and therefore does not yet fully meet the professional communication needs of students in hospitality programs. This Community Service (PKM) activity aims to improve students’ English vocabulary, pronunciation, and communication skills through “English for Hospitality” training tailored to the hospitality industry. The program was conducted at SMK Ma’arif 1 Kebumen from April 29 to May 22, 2026, with 10th-grade students in the Hospitality Specialization Program participating. The implementation methods included lectures, demonstrations, drilling, pair work, and role-playing, developed based on the English for Specific Purposes (ESP) and Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approaches. The training materials covered greetings and welcoming guests, handling reservations, providing information and directions, offering help and services, handling complaints, and communicating as a tour guide. The evaluation was conducted through a pre-test, a post-test, observations, and a practical assessment. The results of the activity showed an increase in the participants’ average score from 72.95 on the pre-test to 75.45 on the post-test. The results of the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test showed a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores (p < 0.05), although the normalized gain of 0.09 indicated that the level of improvement was still relatively low. In addition to improvements in cognitive aspects, participants also showed development in affective aspects, such as increased self-confidence, active participation, and courage in using English in guest service situations. These findings indicate that ESP-based English language training tailored to the needs of the hospitality industry can support the development of hospitality students’ communication competencies and enhance their readiness for fieldwork and the professional world.
