Abstract

This study aims to analyze the digital transformation of Qur’anic teaching to enhance community competence in the technological era, focusing on three majelis ta’lim (Islamic study groups) in Bandung Regency. Key concepts include digital literacy, blended learning, community-based education, and Islamic education based on adab (ethics). The research employed a participatory approach with observation, interviews, focus group discussions, and simple questionnaires. The subjects comprised women from majelis ta’lim and Generation Z, representing two major social groups in digital adoption. The findings reveal that the use of Qur’an applications, video conferencing, and YouTube-based distribution of learning materials improves access, flexibility, and interactivity in religious education. Challenges include limited digital infrastructure, generational gaps in digital literacy, and concerns over the decline of spiritual blessings inherent in face-to-face learning. This study recommends a digital Qur’anic learning model that balances traditional values with technological innovation. Practical implications highlight the importance of continuous mentoring, strengthening teachers’ digital capacity, and developing creative, verified digital content. Contribution: This research contributes to the development of digital literacy theory in Islamic education, enriches the literature on the role of majelis ta’lim in the digital era, and proposes a practical implementation model that can be replicated in other contexts.

Abstract

The global environmental crisis and ecological degradation at the local level have become serious challenges to the sustainability of human life. In the Pangalengan area of Bandung Regency, pressure on the ecosystem occurs due to deforestation, agricultural land conversion, and declining water quality. In this context, a new approach is needed that combines local values and spiritual dimensions to strengthen environmental resilience. This article aims to explore the role of religion, particularly Islamic values, in fostering ecological awareness and collective community action through a community service model based on a transformative approach and Asset-Based Community Development(ABCD). This study uses a participatory qualitative approach with data collection techniques through participant observation, in-depth interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), and community reflection. The results of the study indicate that the insertion of religious values—such as the concept of caliph, amar ma’ruf nahi denkar, and prohibition of waste—successfully triggered a transformation in public awareness of environmental issues. Thematic religious studies, mosque greening programs, and youth involvement as environmental cadres have spurred concrete and measurable action. Collaboration between religious leaders, village governments, and religious educational institutions has also resulted in a partnership model based on environmental spirituality. These findings demonstrate that religious values can serve as both an ethical foundation and a practical strategy in community-based environmental policies. The implications of this research underscore the need to integrate spiritual values, public policy, and ecological action to build sustainable environmental resilience at the local level.

Abstract

Existing studies on radicalism and terrorism emphasize security, legal, and ideological lenses, framing it solely as a state threat, while overlooking its normative, symbolic, and moral appeals that foster societal legitimacy. This research analyzes radicalism as a crisis of civic integration and state moral delegitimization, proposing civil religion—synthesizing Durkheim's social facts, Rousseau's social contract, Bellah's civil religion, and Habermas's deliberative democracy—as a preventive framework treating radicalism as counter-civil religion. Through qualitative literature analysis, findings show civil religion builds public ethics, social cohesion, and cultural deradicalization by reframing violence, substituting identities, and integrating religion-nation symbols; in Indonesia, Pancasila embodies this, countering radicalism via inclusive identity, moral legitimacy, and deliberative pluralism alongside social justice, transcending mere securitization.

Abstract

In an era marked by increasing cultural diversity and global interconnectedness, this article critically examines the pivotal role of multicultural Islamic education in instilling Human Rights values within multicultural societies. By fostering an educational paradigm that transcends traditional boundaries, multicultural Islamic education emphasizes the profound internalization of core principles such as tolerance, justice, inclusivity, and non-discrimination. This approach is strategically designed to cultivate moderate (wasatiyah) and humanistic learners who embody Islam's balanced, compassionate ethos across diverse contexts. Drawing on robust theoretical analysis, the study establishes meaningful linkages between universal human rights principles—derived from international frameworks such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights—and authentic Islamic perspectives. Key Islamic concepts, including human dignity (karāmah al-insān), equality before God, restorative justice ('adl), and religious freedom (hifz al-din), are meticulously aligned with the comprehensive Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah framework, which prioritizes the preservation of faith, life, intellect, progeny, and wealth. This integration not only resolves potential tensions between secular and religious worldviews but also enriches both by highlighting Islam's inherent commitment to human flourishing. The article further highlights practical strategies for embedding Human Rights values by promoting tolerance and interfaith dialogue, respect for minority rights, equitable social justice initiatives, and the unequivocal rejection of violence and extremism in Islamic educational curricula. Special emphasis is placed on the indispensable role of teachers and educational institutions as architects of change. Educators, equipped with pedagogical innovations and cultural competence, are positioned as key agents in crafting inclusive, participatory learning environments that encourage critical thinking, empathy, and civic engagement among students from varied backgrounds.
