Abstract

Response time is a combination of the response time when the patient comes to the health center until he receives service from the staff. The standard time is ≤ 5 minutes for patients to be served after arriving at the emergency room. Long response times can result in the risk of death or disability. Fast and precise response time can create a feeling of satisfaction with the service received. This study aims to determine the correlation between nurse response time, service quality, and family satisfaction in the UPT Kedungjajang Emergency Room Community Health Center. This was multivariate quantitative research using correlational analytical methods with a cross-sectional study. Respondents were obtained in the emergency room of the Kedungjajang Community Health Center, which was held from 26 June to 26 July 2024. The sampling technique used Total Sampling with a sample of 5 nurses and Accidental Sampling with 48 patient families. The instrument uses observation and questionnaires, and it is analyzed using SPSS with the MANOVA test. The research results showed that fast nurse response time at good service quality was 40 respondents (93.0%), fast nurse response time at the satisfaction point was 43 respondents (95.6%), and a significant p-value was obtained at p=0.022 at Nurse Response Time on service quality and p = 0.001 on nurse Response Time on family satisfaction. Service standards in assisting quickly and appropriately are provided to patients in the emergency room by competence and ability. Fast and precise response time can create a feeling of satisfaction with the service received. Nurse training is essential, and health centers are expected to provide triage information boards so that patients and families understand the triage priorities given by nurses.

Abstract

Communication is a determinant of success in achieving goals. Every nurse must have skills in communicating with patients to build good relationships. This is very important to determine patient satisfaction and improve the quality of patient service. This research uses the cross-sectional study method. The population was 283 people, with 166 samples collected using the Slovin formula using an accidental sampling technique with two variables: effective communication and patient satisfaction. The data collection instrument in this research was a questionnaire (using a checklist). Then, the data was analyzed using the Spearman rank test. The results obtained were 155 people (93.37%) effective communication and 11 (6.62%) ineffective communication. One hundred sixty-two patients (97.53%) were satisfied, and four people were dissatisfied (2.47%), and the results were at a significant level p=0.000. A strong positive correlation was found between effective communication and patient satisfaction, meaning improved communication leads to higher patient satisfaction. Effective communication ensures that patients feel valued and comfortable, ultimately contributing to better healthcare experiences and outcomes.

Abstract

The importance of adequate nutrition for children in supporting optimal growth and development and the role of health education in influencing parental behavior regarding this matter is well recognized. This study aims to evaluate the impact of health education using the Emo-Demo method on parental behavior in fulfilling children's nutritional needs at Posyandu Kenari, Lumajang Regency. The method used in this study is a pre-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test one-group design approach. The population and sample comprised 35 parent respondents who participated in the research. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire, and the data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results showed that most respondents, 19 individuals (54.3%), exhibited poor behavior in fulfilling their children's nutritional needs before the intervention. After receiving health education using the Emo-Demo method, parental behavior improved significantly, with 25 individuals (71.4%) displaying good behavior. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon test showed a p-value of 0.000, indicating a significant effect of the health education intervention on changing parents' behavior. These findings highlight the importance of interactive and sustained health education approaches to support behavioral changes in a public health context. Therefore, structured health education programs using innovative methods like Emo-Demo can be more widely implemented to improve overall child health.

Abstract

Asthma is a leading cause of global morbidity and mortality, accounting for 17.4% of deaths worldwide.  As one of the top 10 non-communicable diseases, asthma significantly impacts patients and their families.  Characterized by recurrent and reversible airway obstruction, asthma often leads to ineffective breathing patterns.  This study explored the impact of pursed-lip breathing (PLB) therapy on reducing respiratory rate in asthma patients with ineffective breathing patterns at Dr. Haryoto Hospital, Lumajang.  A case study design was employed from June 14 to June 18, 2024, involving a single asthma patient who met the criteria of dyspnea, abnormal breathing patterns, and the use of accessory respiratory muscles.  Data collection included objective and subjective measurements using observation sheets, physical examination tools, and standard operational procedures.  PLB therapy was administered over five days, with three daily sessions, each lasting 5 to 15 minutes.  The patient, presenting with symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest tightness, prolonged expiratory phase, and abnormal breathing patterns, showed significant improvements following PLB therapy.  Results indicated a reduction in respiratory rate by 6.76 breaths per minute, an increase in SpO2 by 3.44%, and a decrease in pulse rate by 51.62 beats per minute.  PLB therapy effectively reduced respiratory effort, alleviated dyspnea, enhanced oxygen transport, and strengthened respiratory muscles.  This study demonstrates that PLB therapy is an effective non-pharmacological intervention for managing asthma symptoms.  Nurses are encouraged to incorporate PLB therapy into patient education to empower asthma patients to manage their symptoms independently.

Abstract

Schizophrenia is one of the most serious and most common mental disorders in Indonesia. More than half of the burden of families caring for people with schizophrenia is in the moderate category. Families feel anxious and sad about the condition of people with schizophrenia; negative assessments from society about schizophrenia also further burden the family's condition in adapting to the presence of schizophrenia patients in the family. The purpose of this study was to analyze the Effect of Family Psychoeducation Therapy on Family Self-Esteem in Patients with Schizophrenia. This type of research is pre-experimental with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. Data collection was carried out from August 1 to August 31, 2024. The study population was 37 families who had family members with schizophrenia, and the sample was 37 families who had family members with schizophrenia, using the total sampling technique. Family Psychoeducation Therapy consists of 6 sessions, each carried out per week, and the duration of psychoeducation therapy is 45 minutes. The measuring instrument used for family self-esteem is the self-esteem scale. The study results showed that 15 respondents had 40.5% moderate self-esteem before psychoeducational therapy, while 20 respondents had 54.1% high self-esteem after being given psychoeducational therapy. After the Wilcoxon test was carried out, it showed a p-value of 0.000, indicating the influence of family psychoeducational therapy on family self-esteem in patients with schizophrenia. This study shows that family psychoeducational therapy is vital in the process of families caring for their family members with schizophrenia. This also shows the importance of the role of the family in the healing process of sick family members.

Abstract

Heavy work is one of the factors that can influence farmer stress. In addition, the high demand for labor can increase psychosocial disorders and psychological stress among farmers. This research aims to determine the management of psychosocial problems among Indonesian farmers. This research uses a literature review method which examines several academic articles related to the author's research. The data was obtained from the Google Scholar, PubMed, and Science Direct databases, and the publication years were 2020 to 2024. A systematic approach in the form of the PRISMA framework was used in selecting this literature review. In the English language literature search, the keywords "psychosocial" and "stress" and "farmer" were used. Then 10 relevant journals were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Agricultural nurses can educate farmers about psychosocial problems to reduce the psychosocial problems that occur. Farmers' psychosocial problems resulting from stress, depression, severe fatigue, and work exhaustion can be overcome not only with family social support but also with various types of self-management, such as focusing on problem-solving and controlling emotions.

Abstract

Pleural effusion is the accumulation of fluid in the pleural cavity or membrane that separates the inner chest wall from the lungs. Pleural effusion can affect hemodynamics because increased intrapleural pressure can push organs in the mediastinum. Providing a semi-fowler position is one of the nursing interventions that is expected to improve hemodynamic status in patients with pleural effusion. This study aims to determine the implementation of nursing care for patients with pleural effusion by applying the semi-fowler position to hemodynamic status in the Catleya Room, dr. Soebandi Hospital, Jember. The research method in this study uses a case study. The respondents and place in this study were Mr. T. with pleural effusion in the Catleya Room of RSD dr. Soebandi Jember. Semifowler position intervention was given for 3 days with a duration of 2 hours. The results of this study indicate that on the first day, there was a decrease in blood pressure, MAP, and respiratory rate. While the pulse rate and oxygen saturation increased. On the second and third day, of the application of the semifowler position, the results showed that there was a decrease in respiratory rate and an increase in pulse rate and oxygen saturation. While there were no hemodynamic changes in blood pressure and MAP. The conclusion of this study is that the implementation of the semi-Fowler position has an effect on hemodynamic status, especially on reducing respiratory rate and increasing pulse rate and oxygen saturation.

Abstract

Hydronephrosis occurs due to a disorder in the urinary tract that causes the flow of urine from the urinary tract to be obstructed, causing the dilation of the channels in the kidneys. The main symptoms that hydronephrosis patients commonly feel are pain in the lower back, nausea, and fatigue. Deep breath relaxation therapy, as a non-pharmacological therapy, has the effect of reducing pain. This study aims to determine the effect of deep breath relaxation techniques in patients with hydronephrosis and pain complaints. The method used in this study was a case study of one patient who was given an intervention for three days. The pain intensity scale was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). This study showed a significant reduction in pain intensity in hydronephrosis patients from a scale of 6 to a scale of 3, where the deep breath relaxation technique intervention was given for three consecutive days for three sets per day in patients. Based on the results of the study, the researcher suggests the use of deep breath relaxation techniques as a non-pharmacological therapy in hydronephrosis patients with pain complaints in clinical practice, which can be provided by health workers, especially nurses or as patient-independent therapy because deep breath relaxation techniques are easy to do therapy and do not require additional tools and materials to do so.

Abstract

Dengue fever or hemorrhagic fever is an acute infectious disease that can be transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito. The virus carried by the Aedes aegypti mosquito will attack cells in the liver, disrupting liver function and causing swelling and bleeding. Symptoms that can occur are high fever, muscle and joint pain, and rash. One of the nonpharmacological therapies is deep breath relaxation therapy to reduce pain. This study aims to analyze deep breath relaxation techniques to reduce pain. This research design used a case report approach.   The pain can decrease after being given deep breath relaxation therapy for 3 days. On the first day, on a scale of 7, it decreased to a scale of 2 on the third day of hospitalization. Applying deep breath relaxation techniques can help reduce pain intensity by relaxing skeletal muscles that experience spasms due to increased prostaglandins, so that vasodilation of blood vessels will increase blood flow that is spasmed and ischemic. This technique can help a person or patient control themselves when feeling emotional discomfort, physical stress, or pain. Deep breath relaxation techniques can be given to patients who experience pain as a nonpharmacological therapy. The application of this relaxation technique is proven to reduce pain intensity.

Abstract

Discharge planning is essential for providing special education or training to patients and their families when a patient is admitted to the hospital and prepares for discharge. It is a crucial part of nursing care that requires collaboration across multiple disciplines. The goal of discharge planning is to facilitate communication between nurses and patients, enabling the provision of procedures for managing and preventing diseases at home. Typhoid fever, an endemic infectious disease, necessitates continued care and treatment. The ability of nurses to effectively implement discharge planning significantly enhances families' understanding and capacity to care for patients with typhoid fever. This study analyzes the implementation of discharge planning for patients with typhoid fever at Treatment Room D of Kaliwates General Hospital in Jember. This case report examines the discharge planning process for these patients. To assess changes in understanding disease prevention, the study measured patients' knowledge before and after implementing discharge planning using a questionnaire on understanding typhoid disease. The results indicate that implementing discharge planning effectively improves patients' understanding of disease prevention related to typhoid fever. Before discharge planning was instituted, patients scored an average of 50% on the pretest regarding their knowledge. After the discharge planning was carried out, the posttest score increased to 90%. This demonstrates that providing discharge planning to families and patients significantly enhances their knowledge about typhoid fever.
