Abstract

Background: Pain during invasive procedures is an unpleasant thing experienced by all children when hospitalized, including children with acute illnesses or chronic diseases such as thalassemia. Nurses need to implement interventions from atraumatic care to reduce the pain felt by children, such as by providing audiovisual distraction techniques. This study aimed to see the difference in pain felt by thalassemia and non-thalassemia children after being given an audiovisual distraction technique intervention. Methods: This study uses a quasi-experimental method by comparing the pain of thalassemia children with non-thalassemia children aged 1-12 years after being given audiovisual distraction techniques. The data collection period was from May to August 2022 on 33 children (15 thalassemia children and 18 non-thalassemia children) using purposive sampling techniques from 3 hospitals in Jambi. Results: Thalassemia children felt no significant difference in pain compared to non-thalassemia children who were given audiovisual distraction techniques. Conclusion: All children feel pain even though children with chronic diseases have repeated hospitalization experiences, so it is important to provide nursing interventions for pain management, especially in children with chronic conditions (thalassemia), to prevent further effects of recurrent pain felt by children.

Abstract

Background: The prevalence of high-risk pregnancies in the world is still relatively high. Approximately 10-30% of mothers who undergo routine antenatal care are diagnosed with high-risk pregnancies and of these, 70-80% experience perinatal mortality and morbidity. The psychological impact of high-risk pregnancy is anxiety, stress, and the mother experiencing a crisis that can affect the relationship between the mother and the fetus. This condition can also continue in the relationship between mother and baby after birth. Therefore, it is necessary to make efforts to increase the attachment of mother and fetus, one of which can be done by providing education. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Android-based Prenatal Attachment Education Applications on Maternal and Fetal Attachment in High-Risk Pregnant Women. Methods: This type of research is quantitative with a quasi-experimental design study that uses a one group pretest - posttest design without control group. The intervention provided was in the form of prenatal attachment education packaged in an application via mobile phones. The research sample was 40 pregnant women at Putri Ayu Public Health Center, Jambi City. The inclusion criteria in this study were pregnant women who could read and write. Exclusion criteria were respondents who were not willing to participate in the study. Results: Based on the results of the above analysis, it can be seen that Sig is 0.000 < 0.001, which means that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. In other words, there is a significant relationship between the application of prenatal attachment education with maternal and fetal attachment. Conclusion: maternal and fetal attachment can be improved with prenatal attachment education applications, for that it is expected that the puskesmas implement prenatal attachment education applications using mobile phones so that they can increase maternal and fetal attachment.

Abstract

Background: Working mothers are more likely than stay-at-home mothers to discontinue breastfeeding earlier. The province of Banten has a low rate of exclusive breastfeeding coverage. The government issued several regulations to address the challenges and barriers in the workplace to continue exclusive breastfeeding. The research aims to predict the influence of individual characteristics and lactation facilities in the workplace on the sustainability of exclusive breastfeeding for working mothers. Method: This study uses a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. 65 survey respondents were given online questionnaires. Mothers who work in the Banten area, in specific, are currently or have previously breastfed their babies aged 6-24 months. The study was carried out in July 2022. The quantitative analysis used logistic regression to identify factors that significantly relate to the sustainability of exclusive breastfeeding. Result: The study's findings indicate that the knowledge variable of working mothers has a significant effect, with a p-value of 0.040 and an Odds Ratio of 5.564, implying that working mothers with poor knowledge are 5.5 times more likely to discontinue exclusive breastfeeding than working mothers with good knowledge. Conslusion: Develop an intervention model in the workplace that provides education about dairy milk management.
