Abstract

Purpose of the study: The aim of this study is to examine the impact of the shift learning system on the learning outcomes, motivation, and understanding of history subject students in Grade XI at State Senior High School 6, Bengkulu City. Methodology: This study used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through structured and unstructured interviews, observations, and document reviews. No specific software was mentioned for data processing. Main Findings: The shift learning system improves teacher-student interactions and creates a more focused learning environment. Students report better comprehension in smaller classes, while teachers find class management easier. However, challenges include increased teacher workload, uneven understanding due to shorter sessions, and difficulty for some students in adapting to independent tasks. Lecture methods remain effective but may cause boredom among students. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study uniquely explores the specific impact of the shift learning system on history education for Grade XI students in Bengkulu City, focusing on teacher-student interactions, learning outcomes, and material comprehension. It provides new insights into adapting teaching methods in resource-limited settings and offers a local perspective that can guide similar educational policies elsewhere.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: The purpose of this study is to identify the development potential of the Cipondoh Lake area by studying a number of factors, namely physical characteristics, socio-cultural, accessibility, facilities, and ecological conditions in the Situ Cipondoh area. Methodology: The research method used is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The sampling technique used is the accidental technique, then the data that has been analyzed is presented in a descriptive analysis using a single frequency table. The data presented is then interpreted based on existing theories and measured with appropriate presentation. Data collection in this study was carried out using questionnaires, interviews, observations, and documentation. Main Findings: The results found in this study indicate that the physical condition of Situ Cipondoh's potential has a score of 11, which means it is not yet sufficiently supportive. Furthermore, the socio-cultural potential gets a score of 40, which means it is supportive. The accessibility potential gets a score of 13, which means it is very supportive, and the existing facility score is 10, which means it is supportive. The total overall score is 74, which indicates that Situ Cipondoh is supportive and worthy of being a tourist area. Novelty/Originality of this study: This research provides novelty by exploring geographical potential as a major factor in increasing the attractiveness of natural tourism, which previously received less attention in the development of natural resource-based tourist destinations.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to assess the status of crop production and evaluate the costs, benefits, opportunities, and challenges along Tonle Sap Lake during the dry season. Methodology: Data were collected from 47 farmers, 10 vendors, and four local authorities through random interviews followed by questionnaires. The cost-benefit ratio, net present value (NPV), and sensitivity analyses were conducted, assuming a 9% cost overrun and a 5% yield decrease for analysis data. Main Findings: The study found, that farmers employ crop rotation and expertise from nearby farmers to grow beans, corn, sweet chilli, and melon from December to August. Floodplain crop production is moderately profitable, despite a 10% increase in total costs, with labor, irrigation, fertilizer, weeding, and pesticides being the high expenses. Challenges such as labor scarcity, financial literacy deficits, pest management issues, falling crop values, climate variability, and insufficient seed storage further complicate floodplain agriculture. Novelty/Originality of this study: This research explores floodplain farming's financial efficiency, and sustainability, utilizing cost-benefit analysis, sensitivity analysis, and qualitative evaluations to address Cambodia's unique agricultural challenges in the floodplain area.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This research study aims to explore the specific roles women play in this field, the disparities they face compared to men, and their coping mechanisms. Methodology: A mixed-methods approach was used for this research, combining quantitative data from household surveys and desk reviews with qualitative data from key informant interviews. The study reviewed relevant research papers, articles, and reports, including project progress reports, published journals, guidelines and policies related to waste collection, and research reports from other researchers and policymakers. Main Findings: The research findings revealed that women's family status significantly impacts their economic decisions, often leading them to work for pay to support their families. Household surveys showed that women comprised 64% of respondents, and 54% had no schooling. Additionally, 37% of respondents were aware of women's roles in providing for their families, while key informant interviews with community organizations confirmed this understanding. While the study found that 60% of respondents believed that increased women's rights would not compromise men's rights, 40% disagreed. Some respondents expressed concerns about men losing their privileges if women gained more rights. However, the study concluded that women's contributions to household income should be valued more, and that collaborative efforts are needed to achieve gender empowerment and economic management. Novelty/Originality of this study: Through this research, the master plans for solid waste management will be developed and the partnership with private sector will be strengthened to improve waste management practices and increase income for waste collectors.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: The main purpose of the study was to examine the extent of service-learning integration and the enhancement of global citizenship competencies. Methodology: Descriptive-correlational research design was employed in this study. Four hundred six (406) respondents from the different institutes of Kolehiyo ng Lungsod ng Dasmarinas, a locally funded higher education institution, were surveyed. Pearson product-moment correlation and stepwise multiple linear regression analysis were used to analyze the collected data. Main Findings: Results revealed that HEI teachers integrated service-learning approach into instructional materials designing and development, course expectations and learning standards, assessment tools and procedures, classroom management and learning environments, and lesson planning and teaching strategies to a great extent. Direct learning and research-based activities were the dominant service-learning types used for the HEI curricula. Furthermore, the global citizenship competencies indicated a significant relationship with and were influenced by the components of service-learning. Novelty/Originality of this study: This research provides a theoretical perspective about how service-learning approach influences the acquisition of global citizenship competencies among students, making them more ready and eligible for thriving in the demands of the future.
