Abstract

Cookies are a practical snack and are enjoyed by various age groups. Modifying sago flour cookies with stevia sugar not only has a crunchy texture and a preferred taste, but is also healthier. This study aims to determine the effect of various concentrations of sago flour with the addition of stevia sugar on cookies' physicochemical and sensory properties. This study used an experimental design with a quantitative approach and a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The treatment consisted of four compositions: P1 (100% wheat flour: 0% sago flour) as a control, P2 (50% wheat flour: 50% sago flour), P3 (25% wheat flour: 75% sago flour), and P4 (0% wheat flour: 100% sago flour). Observations made were sensory tests, including: color, aroma, taste, texture, and crispness. Nutritional content tests included: water content, ash content, and fat content. Physical tests included: Hardness test. Respondents in the sensory test were 70 untrained panelists. Based on the research results, cookies substituted with 75% sago flour (P3) produced the highest acceptance of aroma, taste, texture, and crispness compared to other treatments, respectively, namely 3.86 (like), 3.66 (like), 3.87 (like), and 3.74 (like). The cookie hardness test found that the higher the proportion of sago flour, the more complex the cookies produced, namely P2 of 8.22 N/mm2, P3 of 8.4 N/mm2, and P4 of 11.5 N/mm2. Then, in the water content test, the more the proportion of sago flour, the more significant (P<0.05) the water content was, namely 4.42% (P2), 5.54% (P3), and 7.56% (P4). Meanwhile, the total ash and fat content decreased significantly (P<0.05), respectively, namely 0.88% (P2), 0.48% (P3), 0.30% (P4) ash content, and 29.09% (P2), 25.51% (P3), 21.04% (P4) fat content. The water, ash, and fat content in sago flour cookies meet the quality requirements of SNI 01-2973-2022 cookies except for the water content of the P4 treatment. Thus, the cookie formulation with 75% sago flour, 25% wheat flour, with the addition of stevia sugar (P3) produces the best product based on organoleptic acceptance and cookie quality requirements. However, it is necessary to identify the shelf life test of sago cookies to ensure the quality and safety of the product.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding plays a vital role in ensuring optimal nutrition for infants aged 0–6 months. Nevertheless, its coverage remains low in several areas, including West Aceh Regency. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between sociodemographic factors and exclusive breastfeeding practices among mothers of children aged 6–59 months in the Drien Rampak Public Health Center, Arongan Lambalek Subdistrict. Using an analytical survey with a cross-sectional design, a total of 267 respondents were selected through accidental sampling. Data were collected via questionnaires and analyzed using the chi-square test. The findings indicated significant associations between maternal knowledge (p=0.000), maternal education (p=0.000), maternal occupation (p=0.000), and economic status (p=0.017) with exclusive breastfeeding practices. Conversely, paternal education (p=0.080) and paternal occupation (p=0.290) did not show significant relationships. These results suggest that maternal knowledge, education, and occupation are key determinants in the success of exclusive breastfeeding, while paternal factors have a less direct influence. Strengthening maternal education and awareness, alongside supportive occupational conditions and adequate economic resources, may enhance exclusive breastfeeding rates in the region.

Abstract

Academic procrastination is a delaying behavior often found among students. The study was conducted because there were still a number of students in the 2020 batch of public health study programs who were not on time in completing their studies, allegedly related to procrastination behavior. This study aims to reveal the internal and external factors that trigger procrastination in completing the final project. The method used was descriptive qualitative, informants were selected purposively, namely: one key informant (caprodi), four main informants (students), and three supporting informants (academic supervisors). Data obtained through initial surveys, interviews, and documentation were analyzed through the stages of reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the more dominant (internal) factors include weak time management, low self- efficacy, and psychological conditions. While (external) factors including environmental conditions, and social support do not directly cause procrastination but can strengthen or reduce the causes in terms of internal factors. Academic procrastination in 2020 batch students of public health study programs is triggered by a combination of internal and external factors, which are dominated by internal factors. Suggestions, for students it is important to improve time management skills and build self-efficacy through structured and consistent study planning, especially when in the progress of preparing the final project.

Abstract

Nutritional problems remain a significant public health challenge, encompassing both undernutrition and overnutrition, which affect quality of life and productivity. Stress levels and physical activity are factors that may influence nutritional status, particularly among final-year students who often face high academic pressure. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between stress levels and physical activity with nutritional status among final-year students of the 2021 cohort at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Teuku Umar University. This research employed an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 142 respondents were selected using a simple random sampling technique from a population of 220 students. Stress levels were measured using the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-42), physical activity using the Physical Activity Level (PAL), and nutritional status based on Body Mass Index (BMI). The data were analyzed using Spearman correlation with a significance level of p<0.05. The results showed that most respondents had normal nutritional status (64.1%), experienced severe stress (38%), and had light physical activity (35.2%). Statistical analysis revealed no significant relationship between stress levels and nutritional status (r = -0.068, p = 0.425), nor between physical activity and nutritional status (r = 0.030, p = 0.722). These findings suggest that nutritional status among students may be influenced by other factors beyond stress and physical activity. Therefore, it is recommended that students maintain healthy eating habits and balanced lifestyles despite academic pressures, while further research should explore additional determinants of student nutritional status.

Abstract

The prevalence of stunting among toddlers in Indonesia, at 21,6%, is a major public health issue. Chronic malnutrition during the first 1.000 days of life is a major cause of stunting, requiring effective and sustainable nutritional interventions based on local food sources. Moringa leaves (Moringa Oleifera) are known as a highly nutritious food with high nutritional content such as iron, protein, calcium, vitamins C and A, which can support child growth. This literature study evaluates the nutritional content of moringa leaves, the effectiveness of moringa leaf consumption interventions in preventing stunting, as well as the success factors and challenges of implementing moringa leaf supplementation in various forms (powder, extract, biscuits, pudding) significantly increases children’s weight, height, and HAZ scores, as well as reducing the prevalence of stunting. Regular consumption and product innovations that appeal to children enhance acceptance and effectiveness of interventions. Moringa leaves offer a local, economical, and sustainable solution for stunting prevention; however, multisectoral support and education are needed to optimize their benefits on a broader scale.

Abstract

Supplying only breast milk (ASI) in the first six months of a child's life plays a crucial role in promoting healthy development and strengthening the immune system. Nonetheless, the rate of exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia continues to fall short of the desired target. Several contributing factors include mothers' lack of knowledge, attitudes, and skills in lactation management. One effort that can increase breastfeeding success is education about lactation management and the application of lactation massage. This study aims to identify the correlation between management education and lactation massage with maternal behavior in providing breast milk. This study uses a one-group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design and a quantitative methodology. Using the complete sampling approach, the sample size was 30 people, and the population was made up of breastfeeding mothers. A questionnaire that evaluated moms' knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors both before and after receiving education served as the research tool. The Wilcoxon signed rank test has been used in data analysis to find significant differences between the outcomes before and after the intervention. The research results showed that before education, the majority of mothers had sufficient knowledge (50%), negative attitudes (56.7% disagreed), and balanced actions between doing and not doing lactation massage (50% each). After education, almost all respondents had good knowledge (96.7%), positive attitudes (43.3% strongly agreed), and all respondents (100%) performed lactation massage. The Wilcoxon test produced ap value = 0.000 (p < 0.05) which indicates a significant difference between before and after the intervention.

Abstract

This study analyzes the relationship between social media use and sleep disorders among adolescents in Indonesia. Through a meta-analysis approach of three main studies, this study examined the causal mechanisms, predisposing factors, and health implications of social media dependence. The results showed a consistent significant association between social media intensity and decreased sleep quality in adolescents, with an average of 69.3% being active users and 65.3% experiencing poor sleep quality. Statistical analysis revealed a strong correlation (coefficient of 0.646) and a significant relationship (p-value <0.001). These findings underscore the urgency of digital health education and structured interventions to reduce the negative impact of social media on adolescent sleep health.
