Loquēla (Journal of Linguistics, Literature, and Education) is an Open Access journal that aims to publish research outcomes with significant contributions to Linguistics, Literature, Education, and their influences on social transformations. Loquēla does not collect only research outcomes from different disciplines and methodological approaches, but also research carried out by interdisciplinary research teams. In this line, disciplinary and interdisciplinary works related to Cultural Studies are welcomed. In the field of Linguistics, it covers issues in both micro and macro linguistics such as Morphology, Phonology, Syntax, Semantics, and applied linguistics such as Sociolinguistics, Psycholinguistics, Discourse Analysis, Critical Discourse Analysis, Pragmatics, Stylistics, Corpus Linguistics, Anthropolinguistics, and others. In the area of Literature, it deals with Modern and Contemporary Literature, Comparative Literature, World Literature, Children Literature, and others. It also explores Cultural Texts and Practices, such as Popular Culture (Movie Analysis, Music Analysis), Sacred text, and others. This research discusses a concept in which the consequences of one's actions are immediate rather than borne out over a lifetime in Instant Karma! by John Lennon. This descriptive qualitative research focuses to find out how does karma associate with the world anthem against the evil portrayed in John Lennon’s song lyrics Instant Karma!, from the Psychoanalytic theory by Sigmund Freud. The song title is Instant Karma! itself is an implementation of a concept of accountability for your actions. Therefore, the view of the psychoanalytic put forward by Sigmund Freud (1901) is compatible to analyze Instant Karma! by John Lennon. Data were collected by studying, interpreting works of literature, and evaluating them. Studying means getting a better understanding of the song through close readings of the lyrics, contextual insights, and listening to it. Interpreting means trying to find the meaning or theme of the song through related interviews with John Lennon as the writer, composer, and singer. Analyzing through song lyrics was the only way to be done since there was no music video. Evaluating means giving criticism about the song lyrics themselves. Criticism is not all about finding fault or any mistakes, but about how we interpret the meaning of the song itself. The data was collected together one by one through the note-taking approach to discover the data to associate with valid information related. The conclusion shows Instant Karma! by John Lennon portrays the outcome of a person’s actions in past and present states of existence. Those actions lead us to our fate. What comes around, goes around, what we sow, so shall we reap. The Karma itself is not only associated with bad output but also as a good one. Good deeds will have a positive effect while bad deeds will bring negative consequences

This study focuses on archetypes topics on the character of Alicia in The Silent Patient novel. The purpose of this study is to examine both characterizations and archetypes of Alicia. The method employed in this study is descriptive qualitative. The data was derived from the narration and dialogue of the figures in the novel. This study uses the characterization concept of James H. Pickering & Jeffrey D. Hoeper and the theory of the archetypes by Carl Gustav Jung. The result of this archetype analysis was then highlighted by the characterization analysis of Alicia. In detail, 23 data were spotted to characterize Alicia, and each data was divided into two parts of the characterization: (1) the Telling Method (6 data from characterization through appearance, and 11 data from characterization by the author); (2) the Showing Method (3 data from characterization through dialogue, and 2 data from characterization through action). It was also found that some characterizations shown by Alicia, say coward, selfish, frustrated, cunning, liar, manipulative, unsympathetic, aggressive, violent, temperament, anxious, vengeful, cruel, arrogant, ambitious, impulsive, anger, pessimistic, unstable, and sensitive. There were 23 archetypes found in Alicia with 11 out of 23 data dominated by shadow. Then, there were 6 persona, 3 animus, and 3 self-data found in Alicia

Techniques for translating a song are very varied. This is because the native language (TL) can be culturally different from the target language (TL). Translation does not only shift the source language to the target language, but translation is also closely related to socio-cultural influences and the formation of cultural identity between the two languages. Based on Newmark’s (1988) theory, this research aims to find the translation method used by translator Cyntia Maharani in translating a song entitled La La Lost You by Indonesian singer Niki. the research results explain that the translator used the semantic translation, literal and free translation, and aesthetic consideration. All the techniques are more oriented towards the target language (TL).

This research discusses the acceptability of Google Translate's translations in the song 'Run' by OneRepublic. The aim of this study is to determine the acceptability of Google Translate's translations in translating the song 'Run' by OneRepublic, using adaptation translation techniques and communication in analyzing the structural aspects of the translation results. This research is qualitative in nature and employs a case study model with a documentation method. The findings of this research indicate that in translating songs, especially 'Run' by OneRepublic, the structural aspects of the translation align with the Source Language (BSu). However, the translations produced using Google Translate's features still lack acceptability, as they appear rigid and challenging to comprehend

The song Loneliness went viral after America's Got Talent gave it a Golden Buzzer for the performance of the song's owner, Putri Ariani. Behind the popularity of this song, there is a sad story that Putri experienced, such as being underestimated because of her physical limitations. In this case, a song lyric can have value and be able to attract attention if the choice of words is correct. As the function of lyrics and songs is to speak universally, they can express the contents of the creator's heart, and reflect the culture of various existing cultural diversity. Therefore, examining song lyrics can provide an academic narrative of the meaning contained therein. This research aims to explain the technique of translating English into Indonesian for the song Loneliness by Putri Arian. Using a theoretical approach to translation techniques from Newmark (1988) and Larson (1984), the song Loneliness was analyzed qualitative-descriptive. The results of research on the lyrics of the song Loneliness by Putri Ariani are the meaning of the song using adaptation techniques, semantic translation and the concept of lexical items.

Literary translations throughout the world are mostly made from English, so a translator is needed to translate into other languages. Translation is defined as the process of transferring a source language message (TL) into the target language (TL) in an equivalent manner. Translation of the journal entitled "Fiction from the Periphery: How Dutch Writers Enter the Field of English Language Literature” discusses the analyzes carried out in translation, the translation methods and techniques applied. This analysis focuses only on Chap Fiction from the Periphery: Implications of the Dutch Case. The application of translation methods and techniques is used to produce reasonable, clear and appropriate translation. This article determines by what mechanisms Dutch writers overcome the obstacles they encounter at the macro, meso, and micro levels. This draws on sociological understandings of how writers from peripheral countries can enter internationally dominant centers, suggesting that such understandings are part of the same theoretical approach that explains the much more frequent flow from centers to peripheral countries.

Covid-19 pandemic has totally transformed how teaching and learning implemented in the classroom. It urged the teachers to use technology in their learning. It’s not only about moving the offline class to the screen-tech class but it’s more about the capability of delivering the lesson through online platforms, such as Google Classroom. In fact, the problems encountered by teachers and learners are very complexed. It deals with the internet connection, teachers’ competencies in using the online platform, proper gadget, and students’ difficulties in customizing themselves to a new learning era. The latest is indeed affect their psychological need; their learning anxiety increased and some factors might influence the effectiveness of learning itself. This study discussed how anxiety in learning can be a significant issue in creating a cozy learning atmosphere which is barely needed in making meaningful instructions

Anxiety is still a frequent occurrence in the lives of many people that interferes with mental health to this day. This is what allows anxiety to occur. The purpose of this study is to analyse the types of anxiety that Finch suffers from and the impact of anxiety on Finch's life in the film All The Bright Places. The data collected in this thesis comes from cinema, research articles and journals. The theory used is the Anxiety Nevid theory in Abnormal Psychology, which can analyse the overall anxiety disorder of the main character. The results of the analysis of this study are: the types of anxiety that Finch suffers from are Phobia Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, General Anxiety Disorder and Panic Disorder. This anxiety affects all of Finch's life activities and mental health. The impact of anxiety causes Finch to experience depression and end his life by committing suicide.

The controversy surrounding the casting of Halle Bailey, a black actress, as Ariel in the live-action adaptation of "The Little Mermaid" has sparked discussions about racism and representation in the media. Some people have rejected the idea of a black actress playing the role of a character who was initially depicted as white. The controversy highlights the ongoing struggle for representation and diversity in the entertainment industry. This research aims to see how people respond to the film The Little Mermaid in real life with a black main character. The Little Mermaid, a Disney classic, has been controversial due to the casting of a Black actress, Halle Bailey, as Ariel in the upcoming live-action remake. Some people have refused to accept a Black actress like Ariel, which illustrates how a white-centric perspective requires a more profound understanding. The backlash against the movie has led to abysmal box office numbers in China and South Korea, showing the global reach of anti-Blackness. However, the importance of representation in media has been highlighted, and casting a Black actress as Ariel is seen as a positive step towards diversity and acceptance. The negative attention on The Little Mermaid has fueled a groundswell of support from other fans who view such anger as founded in racism.

This research delves into the feelings experienced by the main character in the song "Cancer" by My Chemical Romance. This descriptive qualitative research aims to discover the anxiety and mental condition faced by a patient affected by cancer, as reflected in the song's lyrics, using Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theory as an approach. Data were collected by repeatedly listening to the song, understanding, and interpreting the literary work. The song "Cancer" by My Chemical Romance, without an accompanying music video, is the focus of the analysis, relying solely on the lyrics as the source. This approach involves understanding the meaning of the words, examining the emotional context, and exploring potential symbolism within the lyrics. The main goal of this research is to uncover and analyze the anxiety and mental journey of a patient affected by cancer through the lens of Freud's psychoanalytic theory. Through this research, it is hoped that a deeper understanding of the emotional and psychological dynamics faced by the main character in the song "Cancer" will be achieved and how Freud's psychoanalytic theory can assist in analyzing subconscious layers and psychological conflicts that may arise in the context of the song's lyrics. In conclusion, through the psychoanalytic lens, "Cancer" becomes an emotional narrative illustrating the dynamics between personality components in facing feelings of loss and death, creating a profound experience that feels personal and universal.
