Journal of Educational Management Research is an international peer-reviewed journal which publishes original and significant contributions to educational management, administration, and leadership, in its broadest sense, from all over the world. This includes primary research projects in schools and further vocational and higher education institutions. This journal encourages contributions that respond to important issues in management education. Contributions may be either conceptual or empirical and are welcomed from any topic area and country so long as they primarily focus on management or organization in education. Although our core areas of interest are organizational behaviour and management in education, we are also interested in leadership, public relation, human resource management, social issues in management, financial management, organizational development, critical management studies, etc. Authors are strongly encouraged to have their work reviewed and evaluated by their colleagues prior to submission for formal editorial review.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate government policies in the arrangement and security of parking facilities for commercial buildings by integrating an educational management perspective, particularly in relation to policy planning, coordination, supervision, and stakeholder participation as learning processes within public sector governance. The evaluation framework is based on the theory of Egon G. Guba and Yvonna S. Lincoln, which includes five indicators: effectiveness, efficiency, responsiveness, suitability, and policy impact. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method using in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving eleven informants from relevant government agencies, law enforcement units, business actors, parking attendants, and community members. The findings indicate that the implementation of parking policies has not been effective or efficient due to weak inter-agency coordination, limited supervision mechanisms, and inadequate parking infrastructure. From an educational management perspective, these weaknesses reflect insufficient institutional learning, lack of systematic capacity development, and limited dissemination of policy understanding among implementers and stakeholders. Nevertheless, responsiveness is relatively strong, as authorities promptly address public complaints through established communication channels. Although the policy aligns with urban planning objectives, it has not been adaptive to the rapid growth of vehicles and economic activities. The policy impact on traffic order and public comfort remains partial, with persistent issues of illegal parking and congestion. The study implies that strengthening educational management principles such as continuous institutional learning, competency based training, digital supervision systems, and community-based policy education is essential to improve the effectiveness and sustainability of parking policy implementation

Abstract

This study examines the impact of parental collaboration based on criteria derived from quality management and institutional resilience frameworks in Islamic boarding school–based junior high schools. The research aims to analyze how parental collaboration contributes to strengthening quality management practices and enhancing institutional resilience in responding to internal and external challenges. Employing a qualitative research approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis, and analyzed using quality management perspectives developed by Deming and Juran. The findings reveal that parental collaboration plays a strategic and potential role in reinforcing the foundations of quality management and supporting institutional recovery and improvement following periods of resilience. Effective partnerships between parents and educational institutions are shown to enhance service quality, strengthen institutional components, and build a positive organizational image through both internal and external social relationships. Furthermore, in the context of boarding school–based institutions, intensive institutional objectives foster stronger branding ties between parents and schools, contributing to sustainable quality improvement and long-term institutional resilience.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology presents new ethical challenges in education, such as social media misuse and low digital moral awareness. This study aims to examine how Islamic Education (PAI) values can be integrated into school curricula to foster students’ digital ethics, while considering educational management dimensions. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, utilizing in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis involving teachers, students, and school leaders. The findings reveal three main patterns: internalization of spiritual values through digital literacy, cross-subject collaboration in applying Islamic values, and habituation of digital ethics within the school culture. Integrating PAI values enhances students’ moral awareness and digital responsibility. The study’s contribution lies in proposing a value-based curriculum model that aligns spiritual education with digital competence. Practically, schools are encouraged to strengthen teacher training and implement curriculum policies that promote ethically responsible digital literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) utilisation, marketing creativity, and response speed on the marketing performance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Bangka Belitung Province, with customer experience positioned as a mediating variable. Employing a quantitative research design, data were collected through structured questionnaires distributed to MSMEs actively engaged in digital marketing practices. The data were analysed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) to test the proposed relationships. The findings indicate that marketing creativity and response speed have a significant positive effect on customer experience, whereas AI utilisation does not show a significant effect on customer experience. Furthermore, customer experience significantly influences marketing performance and serves as a mediating variable in the relationship between marketing creativity, response speed, and marketing performance. Specifically, marketing creativity and response speed contribute both directly and indirectly to improved marketing performance through enhanced customer experience. These results provide important theoretical contributions to digital marketing and customer experience literature, while offering practical implications for MSME managers and educational institutions in designing technology-oriented marketing strategies and entrepreneurship learning that prioritise creativity, responsiveness, and customer-centred approaches.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of the work environment and human capital on employee performance. The research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. Data were collected through structured questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability. The sampling technique used was saturated sampling, involving 47 respondents. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression to determine both simultaneous and partial effects of the independent variables on employee performance. The results indicate that the work environment and human capital simultaneously have a significant effect on employee performance. Partially, both the work environment and human capital individually show a significant positive effect on employee performance. The coefficient of determination reveals that 75.6% of the variation in employee performance is explained by the work environment and human capital, while the remaining 24.4% is influenced by other factors not examined in this study. The findings imply that organizations should prioritize creating a supportive work environment and strengthening human capital development to enhance employee performance. Strategic policies related to workplace conditions and employee competencies are essential to achieve optimal organizational outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of communication and commitment on employee performance. A quantitative approach with a saturated sampling technique was employed, involving 60 employees as respondents. Data were collected using a validated and reliable questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results indicate that communication and commitment simultaneously have a significant effect on employee performance. Individually, both communication and commitment also show a significant positive effect. The coefficient of determination (R²) obtained is 0.825, indicating that 82.5% of the variance in employee performance is explained by communication and commitment, while the remaining 17.5% is influenced by other factors such as motivation, ability, and work environment. These findings suggest that enhancing communication and strengthening employee commitment are critical strategies for improving overall employee performance. Organizations should prioritize effective communication channels and initiatives that foster employee dedication and engagement.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the partial and simultaneous effects of transformational leadership, communication, and work motivation on teacher performance in primary education. A quantitative research approach using a survey design was applied, involving all 33 teachers as respondents. Data were analyzed using SPSS through validity and reliability testing, classical assumption testing, multiple linear regression analysis, and hypothesis testing with t-tests and F-tests. The findings show that transformational leadership has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, highlighting the importance of effective leadership practices in supporting instructional quality and professional outcomes. In contrast, communication and work motivation do not demonstrate significant partial effects on teacher performance when examined independently. However, when tested simultaneously, transformational leadership, communication, and work motivation collectively exert a significant influence on teacher performance. These results suggest that transformational leadership is the most dominant factor in enhancing teacher performance. Therefore, school management should prioritize leadership development while strengthening communication systems and motivational strategies for performance improvement.

Abstract

The culture of teacher professionalism is a crucial factor in improving educational quality, as it reflects teachers’ commitment, responsibility, and continuous professional development. This study aims to examine the strategies employed by school principals in fostering a culture of professionalism among teachers. A qualitative research approach with a descriptive design was used to explore leadership practices and their influence on professional culture. Data were collected through observations of leadership practices and professional activities, in-depth interviews with the principal and teachers, and documentation analysis of school programs and organizational records. The findings reveal that principals enhance teacher professionalism through structured coaching, role modeling, supervision, professional development programs, and the cultivation of collaborative work environments. These strategies contribute to increased teacher discipline, professional responsibility, and engagement in continuous improvement. The study implies that effective principal leadership plays a central role in shaping a sustainable culture of teacher professionalism. Therefore, school leaders are encouraged to adopt strategic, participatory, and consistent leadership practices to strengthen professional culture and support long-term educational quality improvement.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze leadership strategies in managing student organizations within Islamic boarding school contexts, focusing on planning, organizing, implementation, and supervision, as well as identifying supporting and inhibiting factors. A qualitative field study approach was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis, and analyzed interactively using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that leadership strategies are implemented through a participatory approach, characterized by clear role distribution, structured guidance, and educational evaluation mechanisms. These strategies contribute significantly to improving student discipline, independence, and overall organizational effectiveness. Supporting factors include strong leadership commitment and continuous supervision, while inhibiting factors involve limited managerial experience among student officers and tightly scheduled institutional activities. The study implies that effective student organizational governance requires structured mentoring, systematic leadership training for student officers, and continuous evaluation systems. These elements are essential to strengthening organizational capacity and fostering sustainable student leadership development within faith-based educational institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the leadership management of a madrasah principal in improving teacher performance. A qualitative approach with a descriptive method was employed. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the madrasah principal and teachers as research participants. The data were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques, while data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that the principal’s leadership management is implemented through four main managerial functions: planning, organizing, implementation, and supervision. Supporting factors include effective collaboration among school members and strong teacher commitment, whereas inhibiting factors consist of low discipline among some teachers, limited facilities and infrastructure, and insufficient motivation for professional self-development. To address these challenges, the principal applies several strategies, such as strengthening communication, conducting academic supervision and guidance, providing motivation, and involving teachers in decision-making processes. This study implies that effective leadership management plays a crucial role in enhancing teacher performance and can serve as a reference for improving leadership practices in madrasah education.
