Abstract

Background: A hospital is a healthcare facility that provides emergency, inpatient, and outpatient services. Before receiving outpatient services, patients must first register at the outpatient registration counter. Communication between the registration officer and the patient is crucial to understanding the patient's needs and complaints. Interpersonal communication is verbal and nonverbal communication that mutually influences the perception of the other person. The effectiveness of interpersonal communication is characterized by openness, support, a positive attitude, empathy, and equality. This is especially important for elderly patients who often experience physical and psychological decline. This study aims to describe the implementation of interpersonal communication between registration officers and elderly patients at the outpatient Registration Area of Hospital X. Methods: This research used a qualitative method with a case study design. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation, using a purposive sampling technique for informants. Results: The research results show that interpersonal communication between registration staff and elderly patients, in terms of positive attitudes, empathy, and equality, is already well-functioning. However, openness and support are still less effective, as registration services are conducted daily as a routine, leading staff to prioritize efficiency. Meanwhile, support remains spontaneous and has not yet become a habit. Conclusion: Interpersonal communication between registration staff and elderly patients is generally good, particularly in terms of positive attitudes, empathy, and equality. However, openness and support still need improvement

Abstract

Background: Digital transformation in healthcare is a strategic priority to achieve the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2025–2045. Hospital Information Systems (SIMRS) play a key role in improving service quality and supporting the competency development of health professionals. However, challenges such as unrestricted access, weak confidentiality culture, and inadequate authorization mechanisms remain critical issues. Objective: This study aimed to examine the implementation of the SIMRS authorization system in supporting clinical practicum competency while ensuring patient data security. Methods: A quantitative cross-sectional design was used, involving 79 practicum students and 8 clinical instructors from 8 hospitals affiliated with Poltekkes Kemenkes Tasikmalaya. Data were collected through structured questionnaires assessing four key variables: access policies, role-based access control (RBAC), data security, and audit trails. Data were analyzed descriptively. Results: Findings showed that access policies and RBAC effectively supported practicum needs by enabling students to access learning modules without altering patient records. However, weaknesses were found in data security, including shared accounts and the absence of confidentiality agreements. Audit trails were functional but weakened by account sharing. Clinical instructors noted positive aspects such as regular policy updates but identified insufficient individual access control. Conclusion: Overall, SIMRS authorization supports clinical competency development. Strengthening data security enforcement, confidentiality agreements, and user accountability is necessary to enhance privacy protection and maintain trust in digital health systems.

Abstract

Type II diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease whose prevalence continues to increase worldwide. According to the World Health Organization (WHO, 2023) in Mariang (2023), type II DM is a leading cause of global morbidity and mortality, with a health burden that increases annually.International Diabetes Federation(IDF Diabetes, 2021) reported that the number of people with diabetes in Indonesia in 2021 reached 19.5 million and is expected to increase to 28.6 million by 2045. This condition has various impacts on health, one of which is a decrease in the patient's quality of life. The Indonesian Ministry of Health (2022) emphasized that the management of DM patients does not only focus on controlling blood glucose levels, but also on improving the quality of life. This study aims to analyze factors related to the quality of life of type II DM patients at the Burnay Mulya Community Health Center, including duration of suffering, level of knowledge, family support, and dietary adherence. The study used a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 67 respondents selected using random sampling. The research instruments were questionnaires on quality of life, knowledge, family support, and dietary adherence. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test at a significance level of 0.05. The results showed a significant relationship between quality of life and duration of illness (p=0.031), knowledge (p=0.036), family support (p=0.008), and dietary adherence (p=0.024). Therefore, it can be concluded that the quality of life of type II diabetes patients is influenced by these factors. Healthcare professionals are expected to increase education, patient empowerment, and family support efforts to improve the quality of life of diabetes patients

Abstract

The Death Certificate Form is an essential component of medical records, serving clinical, administrative, legal, and policy-making purposes. Incomplete or inaccurate completion of this form may affect mortality statistics, insurance claims, and hospital management decisions. This study aimed to analyze the influence of doctors’ knowledge and attitudes on their behavior in completing the cause of death form at Permata Cirebon Hospital. This quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design and was conducted from January to February 2025. The study population consisted of all inpatient attending physicians at Permata Cirebon Hospital, with a total sample of 45 doctors selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected through observation checklists and structured questionnaires. Statistical analysis included descriptive analysis, classical assumption tests, and multiple linear regression. The results showed that most respondents had good knowledge (75.6%) and positive attitudes (71.1%) toward completing the cause of death form. However, multivariate analysis indicated that knowledge (p = 0.307) and attitude (p = 0.095) did not have a significant effect on completion behavior, either partially or simultaneously (F = 1.654; p = 0.204). These findings suggest that factors beyond knowledge and attitude, such as workload, documentation systems, training, and organizational support, may play a more dominant role in influencing doctors’ behavior. Strengthening institutional support and documentation systems is recommended to improve the completeness of death certificate forms.

Abstract

Background: Oral health is strongly connected to systemic health, yet in many communities it is still underprioritized. Limited awareness and poor oral hygiene practices may contribute to adverse health outcomes. Objective: To examine the relationship between oral health knowledge, dental hygiene behavior, and general health status among adults in Tasikmalaya. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 30 adults participating in a community-based mobile education program. Data on oral health knowledge and hygiene behavior were collected via structured questionnaires, while general health indicators (blood pressure, BMI, waist circumference, blood glucose, and cholesterol) were measured directly. Descriptive and bivariate analyses were used to assess associations. Results: Higher oral health knowledge was associated with better hygiene behaviors, including regular toothbrushing and reduced sugary food intake. Poor hygiene practices were linked with higher prevalence of hypertension (32.0%) and elevated cholesterol (36.7%). Additionally, 40.0% of respondents were overweight or obese, and 28.0% had central obesity. These patterns suggest an association between poor oral health behaviors and cardiovascular risk factors. Conclusion: Oral health and general health are interrelated among adults in Tasikmalaya. Strengthening oral health promotion and integrating dental hygiene education into general health programs are recommended to support both oral and systemic health
