Abstract

Education encompasses the integration of knowledge, attitudes, skills, practice, and experiences. The concept of education has undergone evolutionary changes over time, influenced by educational policies and their intersection with political dynamics. This study aims to study the significance of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Aesthetic, and Language (STEM/STEAM/METALS) strategies in transforming the education system. This research employs the documentary analysis technique that uses circulars, books, handbooks and guides as secondary data. The primary concerns impacting the economy and development of Sri Lanka include job dissatisfaction, inadequate income, unemployment, and a workforce lacking in necessary skills. Hence there is an urgent need for expertly formulated reforms and ideas in the sphere of education, specifically focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, Aesthetic, and Mathematics from grade 01 to grade 13, as well as in higher education. This article provides an overview of the STEAM background, educational challenges, and the existing syllabus and curriculum for primary, junior secondary, senior secondary, and advanced level education. It also compares the Ministry of Education's (MOE) proposal for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) with the policy reforms suggested by the National Education Commission (NEC). In recent years, it is anticipated that there will be an emergence of new educational trends in Sri Lanka, driven by the innovative perspectives of the current government. These trends are expected to contribute to the nation's progress and prosperity through an enhanced focus on education in the soon future.

Abstract

This work dives into the many layers of witchcraft, oracles, and magic that shape Azande society, a theme first explored by E. E. Evans Pritchard. It isn’t just about abstract ideas; rather, the study shows how these practices mingle with everyday life and help settle disputes in unexpected ways. Using a mix of ethnographic fieldwork, first-hand documents, and historical narratives, the research doesn’t simply list evidence but paints a picture of practical community tools, sometimes overlapping in purpose. Generally speaking, the beliefs in witchcraft and reliance on oracles not only explain misfortune but also serve to knit the community together, regulating social interactions in a very tangible way. There’s also a notable impact on healthcare; these cultural practices influence how illness and healing are understood, leading to a kind of dual approach where traditional remedies coexist with modern medicine, even if the blend isn’t always seamless. In most cases, this mix offers valuable insights not only for anthropologists but also for healthcare professionals, policymakers, and researchers interested in the deep cultural roots of health and sickness among indigenous populations. Recognizing these long-held beliefs in daily life means that interventions might be better tailored to fit the cultural context of patients, ultimately fostering improved outcomes and promoting culturally competed care. Overall, the study sparks cross-disciplinary conversations about the interplay of culture and health, underlining the need for frameworks that truly value traditional practices alongside contemporary medical approaches.

Abstract

This study aimed to assess the level of awareness and understanding of mental health among a purposefully selected sample of Bangladeshi high school students. We hypothesize that the population of Bangladeshi high school students has insufficient knowledge and comprehension about mental health, and this is a major reason behind the high burden of mental health problems in this group. In addition,  parents are not aware of this topic and pay less attention to their children's mental health, and this shortage, coupled with the stigma, may further exacerbate the situation and less help-seeking behavior amongst students. The data was gathered through an online survey. Findings indicated a demand for greater attention to mental health education in high schools, to overcome cultural barriers and stereotypes to mental health concerns, and to emphasize parent education in mental health. Moreover, the research showed that a significant number of parents are not informed regarding mental health issues, and that could make the parents more vulnerable to their children's mental well-being. This work offers useful information regarding the present level of mental health awareness among Bangladeshi high school students and serves as an indication that research in this area will continue to be needed. Results hold promise for the design of culturally appropriate mental health interventions, designed to help increase mental health and reduce stigma within this community.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of digital and interpersonal skills in higher education through a qualitative analysis of international teaching practices. Based on interviews with five professors from various academic institutions around the world, the findings reveal major challenges, such as unequal access to technology, resistance to pedagogical change and the erosion of interpersonal skills due to excessive use of digital communication. Educators recommend mixed strategies such as project-based learning, gamification, mentoring and interactive tools to develop these two skills in parallel. The study concludes that these skills are not only complementary, but also essential to student adaptability and success in hybrid learning and professional environments, prompting universities to adopt integrated pedagogical approaches and strengthen faculty development.

Abstract

The article elaborates the politics of nationalism and socialism among the Pakhtuns, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Analyse the Pakhtun left political organizations and Movements as well as the Pakhtunistan issues, and Hashnagar pesaeants uprising. The paper led us to the banning of all left political organization including Communist Party of Pakistan, Khudai Khedmatgar and other regional nationalist and socialist organization during Cold War.  The Cold War re-shaped the political dynamics in Pakistan particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan. Both were the Front line Provinces in the great game between the United States and the Soviet Union. When Pakistan joined the United State-led West-bloc, the SEATO and SENTO pact was signed against the Communism. Therefore, the Pakistan state took action against the left political organization in Pakistan, due to the Pakhtun socialists activated in a new mask of socialism and strongly opposed the ruling elite of Pakistan. While the nationalist cleared their stance to work for a progressive Pakistan. Both were organized and engaged with Pakistani leftists against the Pakistani ruling elite and finally they organized anti one unit front known as United Front and merged their organization and formed a national level left party, the National Awami Party. The National Awami Party was a geniune left political party all the left banned organization including nationalist and socialist joined it with the manofestation of socialism in Pakistan. However, the ideological split in the International communist movement influence the politics of National Awami Party and its leadership in Pakistan. Meanwhile the National Awami Party split into two factions Pro-Mascow and Pro-China, among the Pakhtuns the pro-China faction were eliminated by the pro-Moscow Wali Khan group from his Party. Consequently, the pro-China faction formed a new left political organization called the Mazdoor Kisan Party in 1967. However, during the 1970 election the Maoist pro China Mazdoor Kisan Party did not participated in general election and mobilized the Hashnagar peasant uprising against the landlords but many lanlords were the candidate of different poltical parties.  This article analysis the unification and split in the left political wing in Pakistan and particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and overview the historical developments and events which shaped and re-shaped the nationalist and socialist tendencies among the Pakhtuns.

Abstract

Bangla, once the rallying cry of a nation’s liberation, now faces a quiet contest with English in the arenas of media, digital culture, and economic ambition. This paper investigates how linguistic nationalism is being reinvented under the pressures of global capitalism in present-day Bangladesh through a quantitative survey of 60 respondents. Statistical findings present an interesting duality: although Bangla is the first choice for traditional media, signage, and cultural heritage, English is being adopted as an inevitable gateway to international connectivity and economic opportunity. This tension demonstrates a population that is not letting go of its linguistic heritage but is strategically coping with a globalized world. The informants are concerned about the diminishing space for Bangla in digital entertainment and youth communication, but the majority is hopeful about the language’s survival. Although the study’s limited sample size and quantitative focus restrict generalizability, its findings shed light on a critical moment of linguistic transformation. It calls for forward-thinking language policies and digital innovation to ensure that Bangla remains not only remembered, but actively lived in a multilingual future.

Abstract

This study examined online teaching models ascertaining both the advantages and disadvantages involved in implementing these strategies. It also explored future implications of this phenomenon. There have been different worldly transformations including the ones caused by COVID-19 which led to learning institutions adopting online learning and teaching models. While there are notable advantages in the usage of online learning, this phenomenon also presents new challenges for both learners and lecturers. This study explored both aspects of the transformation in an exploratory format from a students’ perspective. Students are the prime beneficiaries of online learning models and therefore it is imperative to investigate their viewpoints in order to get full insights into the phenomenon. Data was collected from participants enrolled in online higher education courses using a purposive data collection method. Semi structured interviews were conducted using a questionnaire. The results suggest that acceptance and adoption rates of online learning are increasing. The adoption and effectiveness of online learning varies significantly among students and this is mainly based on access and affordability of technology, access to the internet, and students’ preferences. Some potential students are not privileged enough to have access to technological tools and others lack the skills necessary to maneuver through online content. However for those with access to technology, online learning was viewed as significantly beneficial and students have a positive attitude towards online learning models.

Abstract

The relationship between religion and politics cannot be separated, both are related to each other. Because in politics requires religious values so that a person can find the essence of politics and can be responsible for his mandate to society and God. Therefore, Abu al-A'la al-Maududi offers a concept in the state in accordance with Islamic provisions, when sovereignty in the state is in the hands of God (theodemocracy). The concept is different from the West when the sovereignty of the state is in the hands of the people (democracy). Both concepts have pros and cons in their application, so there are countries like Indonesia that are predominantly Muslim but use western concepts. Whether the concept will be relevant in Indonesia or not.? This discussion will use a qualitative method by processing discussions from primary and secondary sources and then analyzing between the concept of the state owned by Abu al-A'la al-Maududi and the western concept and its implementation in Indonesia. Therefore, the purpose of this discussion is to examine the concept of the state according to Abu al-A'la al-Maududi in Indonesia.

Abstract

Policy making and implementation are crucial aspects of governance that significantly impact the socio-economic development of a country like Bangladesh. Over the period from 2009 to 2024, Bangladesh has faced numerous challenges and obstacles in formulating and executing policies effectively. The purpose of this study is to examine the issues and difficulties that Bangladesh faced during this time in developing and implementing policies. We used qualitative research methods to meet our research objectives. In this study, we carefully followed journal articles, newspapers, policy documents, and related books. We examine various factors contributing to these challenges, including political instability, bureaucratic inefficiency, corruption, lack of coordination, inadequate resources, and external influences. The result reveals that the policy could not be successful due to corruption, accountability, transparency, political influence, and the participation of the general people in the policy formulation. Finally, the paper formulated potential solutions and recommendations to address these issues and improve the policy-making process in Bangladesh.
