Abstract

This study aims to investigate the factors that impact students' interest and performance in chemistry in Kandahar City. Utilizing a written questionnaire delivered to high school students through random simple sampling, this study examines various factors, including school resources, the school environment, teacher- and student-related issues, curriculum and study materials, and the lack of practical resources such as chemical labs. The data demonstrate that most students were uninterested in chemistry owing to insufficient effort, incompetent teachers, difficulty in grasping complicated topics, and poor parental support. These difficulties are exacerbated by a lack of active engagement in class, a lack of a strong study culture, and financial constraints of many families. Furthermore, the lack of appropriate chemical laboratories exacerbates these issues. The study emphasizes the critical need for engaging in teaching techniques, enhanced learning settings, better resources, and support systems to increase students' interest, engagement, and comprehension of chemistry.

Abstract

The Rajshahi Development Authority (RDA), playing a pivotal role in ensuring sound and healthy urban growth, is the main entity responsible for planning and implementing development projects.  after forming by the ordinance of 1976, RDA took various initiatives. In this paper, we try to reflect those initiatives, including land use patterns, the creation of residential areas, road infrastructure development, constructing bus and truck terminals, building markets, industrial and commercial area development, recreational facilities, and planning for enhancing open green spaces, etc. In accordance with the first development masterplan of 1984, RDA sorted out the land use pattern of rajshahi City, in which RDA designated the residential areas, commercial areas, agricultural land areas, industrial areas, open spaces, etc. Therefore, through the implementation of the subsequent master plan named the ‘ Rajshahi Metropolitan Development Plan’ (RMDP), RDA accomplished diverse development schemes in designated land areas, such as building housing estates in residential areas, constructing several industrial and commercial institutions, building markets, and constructing road infrastructures in their respective land areas. Afterwards, the perception of city dwellers regarding these initiatives is measured in a statistical scale,  and we tried to provide a notion about what people think, whether these initiatives are satisfactory and sustainable or not. In fine, visualization and recommendations for the further study are drawn in a nutshell.

Abstract

This article Ibn Khaldun’s thoughts on education, evaluation, and social dynamics, as well as their relevance in the modern world. The approach used is a literature review with critical analysis of works discussing Ibn Khaldun’s key consepts. The study’s findings indicate that, according to Ibn Khaldun, education encompasses not only formal teaching but also the moral, social, and spiritual development of individuals. He emphasizes the importance of a gradual teaching method, interactive dialogue, and direct experience in the learning process. Evaluation, in Ibn Khaldun’s view, is closely related to learning outcomes. Proper evaluation enables comprehensive measurement of learning achievements, inckuding intellectual, moral, and social aspects, this process involves continuous assessment that fosters character development and individual competence. In the social domain, Ibn Khaldun’s theory of asabiyyah or social solidarity highlights the importance of unity in creating a stable and civilized society. This concept remains relevant in addressing the challenges of globalization and modern individualism. Although his ideas did not cover aspects of technology and globalization, the values he proposed can serve as a foundation for building a holistic and adaptive educational system. The article concludes that Ibn Khaldun’s thouhts have the potential to enrich contemporary theories of education and social development.

Abstract

Science education in junior high school plays a crucial role in developing students' scientific thinking, particularly in understanding global issues like global warming. This study aims to assess the scientific thinking abilities of seventh-grade students at three state junior high schools in Palu City, using a descriptive approach and a test based on seven aspects of scientific thinking as defined by García-Carmona (2023). The findings reveal that approximately 80% of students showed progress in scientific thinking, with 12% achieving a competent level and 8% remaining in the beginner category. However, their understanding of scientific information from discourse and graphics averaged only 26%. Overall, students demonstrated developing scientific thinking skills, which could enhance their comprehension of scientific concepts, especially related to everyday experiences and environmental issues shared on social media. The role of teachers is essential in guiding students to understand and critically evaluate scientific information, such as articles on global warming. The study recommends developing interactive, problem-based teaching strategies to further improve students' scientific thinking skills. Future research should explore the role of media technology, teachers, and parents in supporting the development of scientific thinking regarding natural phenomena to advance science education in Palu and its surrounding areas.

Abstract

This article explores the political journey of Bangladesh from its birth in 1971 to the difficult present, like a long and winding river shaped by storms of ambition, ideology, and outside influence. After gaining independence, the country dreamed of unity, rebuilding, and democracy. But over time, those hopes were shaken by repeated waves of political instability, military rule, and weak attempts to build lasting democracy. Political agendas changed again and again, like a swinging pendulum moving between dreams of economic growth and infrastructure. Yet, these goals were often blocked by corruption, family-based control of power, and unfair elections. The story of democracy in Bangladesh has not only been written by elected leaders but also shaped by powerful unelected groups such as the military, business elites, and foreign powers. Each of them has left their mark on the country’s political path. As the nation moved between secular ideals and the rise of religion in politics, its institutions became weaker, burdened by political bias and growing public distrust. At the center of all these are deep political problems, like cracks in a building’s foundation, which have blocked the path toward a fair and fully representative democracy. This article also looks closely at these problems and shows how they still affect political choices and make it harder for Bangladesh to build a strong and stable democratic future.

Abstract

This research was carried out with the aim of identifying the impact of bilingual education by comparing the O/L results among the G.C.E O/L Tamil medium and bilingual students at KM/STR/AL-Marjan Muslim Ladies College, Sammanthurai. Writing, listening, and speaking skills are most important part in English which mainly committed by L2 learners. The examination department measures those students’ lower performance in their exam.  The Standard English has been going very low nowadays among L2 learners. But this problem is less in bilingual or L1 learners cause that the impact of bilingual and medium education and instruction. This is the reason researcher made the investigation about it. This research contacted among 2015 O/L batch students at KM/STR/Al-Marjan Muslim Ladies College Sammanthurai. The participants in this research were 26 students those were coming from bilingual and Tamil medium. The study technique of quantitative approach used. The data we're collected from using test strategies of pre-test,"20 minutes fun “and post-test than some questionnaire. The students have many problems to develop their knowledge of listening, speaking and even writing. After the investigation I found that the secondary learner (Tamil medium) of English student un interested to study the subject of English as their second language, they have the difficulties in those skills and have low level motivation in their learning process. Furthermore, it also proved by analyzing the O/L results of the same students. If they practice with writing, speaking and listening activity regularly, they can upgrade the knowledge and we can say that if those students studied in bilingual, they could improve those skills. This is mainly helping them to identify their lack of English skills. Engaging the writing activities also help them. I hope that the game "20 minutes fun" really make them to interesting to study the spelling of the word with fun. This different strategy gave new opportunity for them. Therefore, the objects were reached through the hard work of researcher, teacher and specially the students of 2015 O/L batch students. I hope that this research paper really helps the students to improve their English skills and knowledge and it will help to encourage the bilingual education in our area and it will make teachers and students to overcome the issues in their future.
