Abstract

The textile and textile products (TTP) industry is a strategically important labor-intensive sector of the Indonesian economy. However, in recent years, the industry has faced severe pressure due to the influx of imported products, weakening global demand, factory closures, and large-scale layoffs. This study aims to analyze Indonesia’s TTP import conditions in 2025, describe the import tariff policy instruments implemented by the government, examine their impacts on the domestic textile industry, and assess the effectiveness of these policies as instruments of industrial protection. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using a literature review and policy document analysis. The data consist of secondary sources obtained from Statistics Indonesia (BPS-Statistics Indonesia), the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Industry, industry associations, and relevant scholarly literature. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, supported by source triangulation. The findings indicate that the import tariff policies implemented by the government include general Most-Favoured-Nation (MFN) tariffs, safeguard duties, and anti-dumping duties, complemented by non-tariff measures, including tighter import licensing requirements and law enforcement against illegal imports. Tariff policies have provided some room for domestic producers to recover in certain product segments. However, their effectiveness remains limited due to the restricted range of products subject to such measures, the substantial share of imports entering under preferential tariff schemes established through free trade agreements, the prevalence of illegal imports that bypass tariff measures, and structural challenges within the industry, including high energy costs and aging production machinery. Therefore, tariff policy should be positioned as a temporary instrument and complemented by industrial restructuring policies to ensure that protection does not result in long-term dependence.

Abstract

Climate change requires every country to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through policy instruments that are both effective and economically efficient. Indonesia has positioned carbon emissions trading as one of the main instruments for achieving its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) target through the implementation of carbon economic value and the operation of the Indonesia Carbon Exchange (IDXCarbon). This study aims to analyse the development of carbon emissions trading in Indonesia in 2025, explain its trading mechanisms, and identify the benefits and obstacles of its implementation as an emission control instrument. The study applies a descriptive qualitative approach using secondary data obtained from government regulations, publications of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, data from the Indonesia Carbon Exchange, and related journal articles. The results show that carbon trading in Indonesia operates through two main mechanisms, namely emission allowance trading (cap-and-trade) in the power generation subsector and carbon credit (offset) trading in the form of GHG Emission Reduction Certificates (SPE-GRK), which are equivalent to the concept of Certified Emission Reduction (CER). These instruments provide economic incentives for emission-reducing businesses, financing for mitigation actions, and improved transparency of emission data. Nevertheless, the implementation still faces obstacles such as low market liquidity, carbon prices that do not yet reflect the social cost of carbon, limited verification capacity, and incomplete sectoral coverage. The study concludes that carbon emissions trading can become an effective emission control instrument if supported by stronger regulation, broader sectoral coverage, and stricter emission caps.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of information technology has transformed various aspects of community life, including the participation of Generation Z in rural development. Although Generation Z is the most active group of internet and social media users, digital technology is still predominantly utilized for entertainment rather than for productive activities that contribute to community development. This community service program aimed to enhance the participation of Generation Z through digital literacy education in Ondorea Village. The program employed the Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) approach, consisting of preparation, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up stages. The activities included educational seminars, interactive discussions, simulations, hands-on digital literacy practices, and evaluations using pre-test and post-test instruments. The results indicated a significant improvement in participants' understanding of digital literacy concepts, the ability to identify valid information, digital ethics, personal data protection, and the productive use of digital media. Furthermore, participants demonstrated increased engagement in utilizing digital platforms to promote village potential, support local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), disseminate public information, and actively participate in village development initiatives. The program demonstrates that digital literacy education is an effective strategy for strengthening digital competencies and empowering Generation Z as agents of change in supporting digital transformation and sustainable rural development.

Abstract

Natural resource (NR) management in Indonesia continues to face various problems, including ecosystem damage, pollution, environmental degradation, biodiversity loss, and conflicts over resource utilization due to a short-term economic orientation. This study aims to examine the basic concepts and scope of sustainable natural resource management in Indonesia through an ecocentric perspective. The study employs a library research method with a descriptive qualitative approach through the identification, selection, comparison, and synthesis of various relevant literature sources. The findings show that natural resources have not only economic value but also social and ecological functions that need to be preserved. A reorientation of management is necessary by shifting from exploitation toward sustainability, from a sectoral approach toward an ecosystem-based approach, and from short-term orientation toward intergenerational interests. The perspectives of ecocentrism, green economy, Green GDP, and circular economy can support a balance among economic, social, and ecological interests in natural resource management in Indonesia.

Abstract

Natural resources (SDA) are a wealth provided by nature and play a vital role in human life. However, the value of natural resources is often not fully considered in decision-making. As a result, many development decisions focus solely on short-term profits without considering the long-term. However, if properly calculated, the economic value of lost natural resources can far outweigh the project's profits. The data in this journal shows that development in Indonesia has been quite good in terms of economic and human welfare, but it has not kept pace with environmental conditions, which are often neglected. By calculating the economic value of natural resources from the planning stage, development decisions can be more equitable and balanced, so that economic progress no longer has to sacrifice the environment for current and future generations.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of foreign exchange market intervention on fluctuations in the Indonesian Rupiah exchange rate. A quantitative approach was employed using secondary data obtained from Bank Indonesia. Foreign exchange market intervention was measured by the volume of Domestic Non-Deliverable Forward (DNDF) transactions, while the Rupiah exchange rate was measured using the Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate (JISDOR). The study covered 12 observation periods from August to September 2026. The analytical techniques included descriptive statistics, simple linear regression, a t-test, and the coefficient of determination. The regression analysis produced the equation Y = 17,772.39 − 0.585X, indicating a negative relationship between foreign exchange market intervention and the value of the Rupiah. However, the t-test yielded a significance value of 0.279, which was higher than the 0.05 significance level. Therefore, foreign exchange market intervention did not have a statistically significant effect on fluctuations in the Rupiah exchange rate during the study period. The coefficient of determination of 11.60% indicates that foreign exchange market intervention accounted for only a small proportion of the variation in the Rupiah exchange rate, while the remaining 88.40% was attributable to other factors outside the research model. These findings indicate that Rupiah exchange rate stability is influenced not only by Bank Indonesia’s intervention policy but also by various domestic and global economic factors.

Abstract

Globalization has strengthened economic integration among countries through trade, investment, technology, and international cooperation, which can support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while also creating economic, social, and environmental challenges. This study aims to analyze the opportunities and challenges of globalization for sustainable development from an international economics perspective. The study uses a qualitative approach with a literature review method based on relevant journal articles and publications. The results show that globalization creates opportunities through market expansion, investment, technology transfer, and international cooperation, but also presents challenges such as inequality, economic dependence, environmental pressures, and technological gaps. Therefore, achieving the SDGs requires the management of economic openness in a way that balances economic growth, social equity, and environmental protection.
