Abstract

Indonesia’s halal certification regime involves consumer protection, freedom of religion, standardization, and international trade. Within the World Trade Organization (WTO) framework, mandatory halal certification may be examined as a technical regulation and/or conformity assessment procedure related to the Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT). The issue has become more relevant following the signing of the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART) between Indonesia and the United States on 19 February 2026. This study analyzes the legal position of halal certification under WTO law, the implications of the ART for the recognition of foreign halal certification, and the potential consequences for domestic industries and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This normative legal research applies statutory, conceptual, and international-agreement approaches. Primary legal materials include Law Number 33 of 2014 on Halal Product Assurance and its amendments, the TBT Agreement, GATT 1994, the ART documents, and official government explanations. The study finds that the ART does not abolish halal certification requirements for food and beverages; rather, it addresses non-tariff barriers, standards, conformity assessment procedures, and recognition of foreign halal bodies. Such recognition must be transparent, objective, verifiable, and consistent with Indonesia’s legitimate level of consumer protection. The principal risk for domestic industries is not simply increased imports, but an imbalance in compliance costs and procedures. The government should therefore equalize procedural treatment, accelerate MSME certification, strengthen post-market surveillance, and ensure that technical measures are applied in a non-discriminatory manner.

Abstract

Civic education in senior high schools still faces the problem of low learning outcomes and the weak connection between civic content and students’ religious values. This study aims to analyse the effect of implementing Quizizz media based on akidah akhlak values on civic education learning outcomes, the effect of student characteristics in the form of learning styles, and the interaction between the two among grade X students of SMA Negeri 13 Medan. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a 2x2 factorial design. The sample consisted of 64 students selected purposively and grouped according to visual and auditory learning styles. The research instruments were a civic education achievement test and a learning style questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analysed using two-way analysis of variance followed by the Tukey test. The results show that the learning outcomes of students taught using Quizizz media based on akidah akhlak values (82.34) were higher than those of students taught conventionally (75.94), with an F value of 14.21 > F table 4.00. No significant difference was found between visual and auditory learners, yet a significant interaction emerged between the learning medium and student characteristics, with an F value of 9.20 > F table 4.00. Quizizz media based on akidah akhlak values proved most effective for students with a visual learning style.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the importance of introducing sex education at an early age to elementary school children to promote self-protection and an appropriate understanding of their bodies. This study aims to determine students’ level of understanding of sex education before and after the implementation of digital comic media and to analyze the effect of using digital comic media on improving sex education understanding among second-grade students at SD Negeri Gunung Sari I, Makassar City. The use of this medium is intended to address cultural barriers that continue to regard sex education as a taboo subject, as well as the limited openness of teachers and parents in providing such education. This quantitative study employed a pre-experimental design using a one-group pretest–posttest design. The participants consisted of 24 second-grade students. Data were collected through pretest and posttest assessments and analyzed using the non-parametric Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. The results showed that students’ understanding before the implementation of digital comic media was categorized as low, whereas after the intervention, it increased to the good-to-very-good category. The Wilcoxon test yielded a Z value of −4.305 with an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating a statistically significant difference between the pretest and posttest results. These findings demonstrate that the use of digital comics had a positive and significant effect on improving students’ understanding of sex education. Therefore, digital comic media can effectively visualize sensitive content in an engaging and accessible manner, enabling teachers to use it as an educational medium for preventing sexual abuse among elementary school students while delivering sex education in an effective, engaging, and developmentally appropriate manner.

Abstract

Mathematics This study was motivated by the persistently low mathematics learning outcomes regarding whole number multiplication among fourth-grade students at SDN Dukuh Kupang II Surabaya. Some students continued to struggle with understanding multiplication concepts and solving problems accurately. One contributing factor was an instructional approach that relied heavily on direct calculation methods, causing some students to become bored and disengaged during lessons. This study aimed to improve student learning outcomes through the use of the PAPER (Multiplication Board) learning aid. A Classroom Action Research (CAR) method was employed, conducted over two cycles. Each cycle comprised the stages of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The study subjects consisted of 25 fourth-grade students from SDN Dukuh Kupang II Surabaya. Data were collected through learning outcome tests, observations of student activity, and documentation. Research data revealed that the initial average score was 62.4, with a class mastery rate of 40%. Following the implementation of the PAPER medium in Cycle I, the average score rose to 72.8, with a mastery rate of 64%. In Cycle II, the average score increased to 84.4, and the class mastery rate reached 88%. These results indicate that the use of the PAPER medium helps enhance student understanding and learning outcomes regarding whole number multiplication. The medium also renders learning activities more concrete and engaging, while encouraging active student participation.
