Abstract

This research aims to increase public awareness to take part in preserving the environment, by processing fabric and clothing waste into works of art using the fashion collage method. As well as developing people's skills and creativity, as well as knowing the right methods and techniques to produce a fashion collage work. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods. The data collection techniques used are through observation, interviews, questionnaires, literature, documents and documentation. The work is assessed based on the participant's creativity and skills using Brent G Wilson's modified assessment table. The research results show that the participants' ability to create fashion collages for Zero Waste Indonesia Instagram social media followers in the 20-30 year age range needs to be further developed so that the research results in the form of interactive learning media and syllabi can be implemented by many groups and become a workshop activity that can be recommended as an artistic activity in an effort to utilize fabric and clothing waste.

Abstract

Cats are friendly animals, they are sensitive to their surroundings, and sometimes their behavior attracts attention. This behavior became a source of inspiration in designing shirts with fabric made using the batik technique. The design method uses practice-based research. The shirt that will be made this time is a men's shirt with short sleeves, without pockets, and a variety of buttons covered by fabric. There are 3 steps in making a work, namely exploring motifs, designing the work, and evaluating the results. The results of the motif exploration obtained 4 motifs, namely the cat motif as the main motif and the fish bone motif as a complementary motif. From the work that has been created, there are several shortcomings caused by problems that occur, such as the color bleeding out of the lines due to the wax breaking on the surface of the fabric. Therefore, the process of applying wax on fabric needs to be carefully considered to ensure it can block the color effectively.

Abstract

Catcalling is a verbal sexual harassment that is a fraction of an underestimated street harassment but have a huge impact towards its victim, which is women at any age. The root of this problem is the normalization of catcalling by society that leads to bigger problems among civilization. Herbal Shop is one of the solutions for people to gain access to traditional medicine. People’s understanding in herbal medicine efficacy is an interesting approach to deliver a sensitive issue; where in this case, catcalling. By using a parody of a herbal shop analogy, issue of catcalling could be wrapped into a familiar and a lighter form to deliver. Installation of “Kwat Shae” herbal shop as an introduction of street harassment issue of “catcalling” appropriates a herbal shop installation that evoke false way of thinking from society about catcalling that “heals” people’s perception just like herbal medicine.

Abstract

This study aims to explore and prove the existence of the invisible lower self as a concern for the process of self-healing and a means of reflection and expression related to psychological processes in art. This study summarizes the data from the questionnaire results for several participants with the following provisions: Indonesian citizens who have experienced low self-esteem or who have or are currently looking for media or solutions to reduce low self-esteem. Steps From planning to development, simulation, distribution of questionnaires, data processing and analysis, and evaluation, several stages were completed. This study examines the relationship between low self-esteem and the creation of works of art. Descriptive research method with data collection in the form of a questionnaire to describe the actual findings in the field. The creation of works of art can help someone who feels inferior be more appreciated and more expressive in expressing thoughts and feelings, and it can also serve as a therapeutic medium for self-healing. Low self-esteem has opportunities for positive and negative impacts depending on the self-management process of each individual who experiences it. For this reason, the process of reflection and application of mindfulness is needed to achieve better change. The results of the questionnaire show participants' patterns of low self-esteem and show the benefits of art activities as a therapeutic medium for self-recovery.

Abstract

This creation aims to convey information about the influence of the Maung Putih myth in relation to ecological preservation and its correlation in maintaining the stability of nature which is visualized in the form of paintings. The weakening of myths as a control of people's behavior makes many people careless in using and exploiting natural resources which results in disrupted natural ecology. This creation departs from internal factors regarding the archetypal story with the late father which then refers to the conceptual, visual and operational aspects as well as several theoretical frameworks for creation with the aesthetic principles of modern art. This creation uses a qualitative method with an artistic research approach, where research and the practice of creating works are carried out simultaneously. Consists of the design of the method of creation, techniques and instruments of data collection, and techniques of data presentation and analysis. The creation of this work visualizes the presence of the white maung myth in preserving natural ecology by using pragmatic artistic interest, semi-figurative interest in forms, and modern aesthetic principles. The work is visualized in the form of a painting. The main tools and materials used are acrylic paint and spray paint on multiplex using a blending technique. The creation of this work is expected to serve as an appeal to the public to care for and always maintain and respect traditional culture in preserving natural ecology.

Abstract

Inline Skate is a sport that is now gaining popularity again due to the Covid-19 pandemic. this artwork comes from personal experience with inline skates. has an affinity for inline skating, especially aggressive inline skating, and then uses the sport as a source of inspiration for works of art. Starting from remembering the pleasant experience of using roller skates as a child. For artist, inline skating is like therapy and self-discovery so that it makes mentally better and more confident. and persistence in pursuing inline skating made several changes in oneself starting from mental, physical and other achievements. The artist's interest in artistic creations is reflective (a reflection of personal experience), and the form shown is semi-figurative. The method of creating works of art uses Artistic Research (exercise and creation are done together). This work is mixed media art. The artist hopes that this work can provide motivation and positive emotional impressions such as joy, curiosity, fatigue, ambition, high adrenaline, pain and feelings of falling when pursuing Inline Skating.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the art of calligraphy painting, as well as to find the meaning of each Qur'anic verse in the work and its implementation. It is based on the background of the fact that the factor in drawing calligraphy is more supportive of Qur'an reading and writing activities or can support the Qur'an tahfiz program and can be a material in preaching, improving the characteristics of santri / nun children to be better guided by the book of the Qur'an. The theories used for this research include Nasir's theory on the definition of religious institutions, Hakim's theory on the pesantren education model, Victor Lownfeld's "Creativity and Mental Growth", the developmental period of fine arts at the age of 16-17, Al-Faruqi's theory on reading the Quran and khat, and Susanto's theory on the definition of calligraphy. The method used is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The type of analysis used is formalistic analysis using the theory according to Aliakbari and Hatami about "The Role of Calligraphy in Islamic Art and Its Interpretation", and content analysis using the theory according to Stokstad and Cothren and the theory of Sheila S. Blair and Jonathan M. Bloom. The results of this study indicate that there are several works of students who are still beginners in the technique of making calligraphic image decorations. The inhibiting factor in the implementation of extracurricular Al-Qur'an calligraphy at the Al-Aulia Islamic Boarding School is time constraints with other pesantren activities. The supporting factors are students, Islamic boarding school coaches, extracurricular advisors.The recommendation is the importance of improving and optimizing the creativity of students. For calligraphy extracurricular advisors, it is expected to utilize technological media, so that students are faster in the development of calligraphy knowledge and make references for further research related to the analysis of calligraphy drawing art in students.

Abstract

The creation of this work is an innovative approach to decorate cotton denim fabric through the adaptation of a traditional Indonesian textile craft technique, the tritik technique. In contrast to conventional methods such as the environmentally unfriendly wash technique, this research explores the application of the environmentally friendly tritik technique on cotton denim. Despite its historical use on softer fabrics, the artist demonstrates that tritik can be adapted to thicker materials. The geometric motifs selected on the fabric undergo a tritik sewing process, as well as dyeing with Indigo paste, transforming into abstract motifs. The denim fabric was then enhanced using floral embroidery. The final product, in the form of five bags, realises fashion needs while promoting environmentally friendly products. The research method used qualitative practice-based research by exploring tracing, embroidery and dyeing techniques on denim fabric. The results of the study show creativity, offering a new perspective in decorating recalatars with an Indonesian touch, thus breaking traditional boundaries and expanding the application of tritical techniques

Abstract

This study aims to analyze posters through visual communication design and the use of posters as a medium to convey information and messages. Visual arts, with inherent beauty that can be perceived through the senses, hold significant meaning in this field. Visual communication design explores creative expression and communication concepts, conveying ideas visually through graphic elements. Posters, as two-dimensional artworks, are analyzed for their effectiveness in publication, communication, and information dissemination. They serve as a means to communicate with the public, facilitating easy information delivery and acting as decorative and promotional elements The research method used is qualitative with a semiotic approach by Charles S. Pierce. The data collection technique employed is interviews with the poster designer of "Rewind Art," observations of the audience as one of the user elements providing insights into their inspiration and problem-solving approaches. The semiotic theory approach in this study examines the diversity of meanings contained in the icons, indices, and symbols of the posters.The study is centered around "Rewind Art," an annual art performance event at Jakarta State University, where posters play a crucial role in promoting and informing about the event's content. The analysis of "Rewind Art" posters focuses on typography, illustration, color, and layout to uncover elements contributing to their effectiveness. Successful posters combine simplicity, clarity, innovative ideas, and designer touches to effectively convey the intended message.

Abstract

Research at Sanggar Kosmi refers to the need for innovation in improving children's creativity and skills at Sanggar Kosmi. The child participants did not show their creativity and skills optimally because the results of their work only focused on predetermined objects. This research aims to increase children's imagination, creative potential and skills in creating fine arts, understand the quality of learning in collage media using the exploration method carried out at Sanggar Kosmi, provide new experiences regarding variations in collage work on images, develop the effectiveness of Handout and PPT media as well as the PjBL learning model in collage learning activities on pictures. The research used descriptive qualitative methods with 5 participants. The assessment of collage works on images is divided into 4 categories, namely: very good category, good category, quite good category, and poor category. There are 10 students' works in the activity of making collages on images using natural and synthetic materials. The results of this research show that the ability to make collages on pictures in children aged 9-11 years at Sanggar Kosmi is quite successful in exploring collage materials and techniques, as well as the use of the PjBL model using Handouts and theme development PPTs is very helpful in the learning process, so it needs to be developed again further so that it can be studied by many groups and become a learning or training activity that can be recommended as a useful activity.
