Abstract

Emotional neglect is a form of parenting that is often unnoticed but has a significant impact on the development of young children. Although physical needs are met, children who do not receive emotional support such as affection, validation, attention, and responsiveness from their parents are at risk of experiencing psychological, social, and neurological developmental delays. This article aims to elaborate on the concept of emotional neglect in parenting, identify its characteristics, analyze causal factors, and explain its impact on child development. The research was conducted using the literature study method, examining books, scientific journals, and other relevant sources. The study results indicate that emotional neglect is closely linked to a permissive-negligent parenting style characterized by low parental warmth and involvement. The impact includes difficulties with emotional regulation, low self-esteem, behavioral problems, and even toxic stress that can affect a child's brain architecture. To address this issue, parents need to practice mindful parenting thru full emotional presence, warm communication, and consistent bonding activities. Thus, the effort to create a safe emotional environment becomes an important foundation for optimal child development.

Abstract

Monitoring child development at the elementary school level requires the active and synergistic involvement of two main parties: educators and parents.  Elementary school-aged children are in a golden period for building a foundation of knowledge, social, emotional, and independent skills that cannot be obtained solely thru interaction at school; consistent monitoring at home is also necessary. This research aims to describe how the Children's Journal functions as a collaborative medium for comprehensively monitoring student development at SDN Tatah Mesjid 2. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, data collection was conducted thru observation, participant observation, in-depth interviews with two classroom teachers and the school principal, supported by documentation of evidence from the Children's Journals over several months. The research findings indicate that the Children's Journal is effective as a two-way communication tool, enabling educators and parents to share information about children's behavior, responsibilities, social interactions, and emotions both at school and at home. Thru this Children's Journal, educators can identify developmental obstacles and adjust their coaching approach, while parents gain a real understanding of their responsibility to monitor their children's development and teach them discipline. Irregular journal entries by some parents are a problem, but teacher guidance can solve it. The Children's Journal serves as an educational communication tool that strengthens cooperation between home and school.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the implementation of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in mathematics and its effect on developing 21st-century competencies among students. A mixed-method approach, combining quantitative and qualitative designs, was employed. The quantitative approach used a one-group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design to measure changes in students’ 4C competencies (critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication), while the qualitative approach explored the learning process, student interactions, motivation, attitudes, and teacher experiences. Data were collected through pretests and posttests, observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation of lesson plans and student worksheets. The findings revealed that PBL significantly enhanced students’ 21st-century competencies, with an average score of 86.6%. Student learning activities increased across group discussions, contextual problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication. Motivation and positive attitudes, including responsibility, discipline, and honesty, also improved. PBL enables students to explore mathematical concepts through real-life problems, think creatively, collaborate in groups, and communicate solutions effectively. Challenges included time constraints and variations in students’ abilities, which required differentiation and time management strategies. The study confirmed that PBL was an effective strategy to integrate cognitive, affective, and social aspects while preparing students for 21st-century challenges. Implications for teachers included enhancing their ability to design contextual problems, facilitate discussions, and utilize digital media effectively. The study demonstrated that PBL not only strengthened students’ mathematical understanding but also fostered higher-order thinking skills, collaborative behaviors, and reflective attitudes, contributing to the development of competent, adaptive, and innovative learners.

Abstract

Schools play a strategic role as agents of socialization in shaping students' character through a planned and continuous educational process. In addition to serving as centers for imparting knowledge, schools also serve to instill moral, religious, disciplined, responsible, and social values through teacher role models, school culture, and the integration of values into the curriculum. However, the implementation of character education in schools still faces several obstacles, such as a lack of consistent application of values, uneven teacher competency in implementing character education, limited supporting facilities, and the negative influence of digital culture on student behavior. Furthermore, the lack of synergy between schools, families, and the community also hinders the reinforcement of values instilled in schools. Therefore, optimizing the role of schools requires targeted strategies, including improving teacher professionalism, strengthening a positive school culture, integrating character education into all subjects, and measurable and ongoing character evaluation. With these steps, schools can be more effective in shaping the character of students with noble character, integrity, and the ability to adapt to an increasingly complex social life.

Abstract

This article explores how various community activities and forms of guidance can contribute to enhancing the overall well-being of older adults. Social engagement—ranging from regular meetups and skill-based classes to peer support groups—creates a meaningful space for seniors to remain active, connected, and valued within their communities. Participation in these activities helps support both physical and emotional health, while also fostering confidence and independence in daily life. Furthermore, consistent and well-structured guidance plays a significant role in helping older adults navigate the challenges that often accompany aging, such as emotional adjustments, health-related concerns, and changes in social relationships. Support from families, caregivers, and community networks serves as an essential foundation that enables seniors to live with greater comfort, purpose, and stability. These findings highlight the importance of integrating community involvement with supportive guidance to promote a more holistic and fulfilling life for older adults.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to develop an educational game–based assessment instrument using Blooket for the topic of the area of squares and rectangles and to analyze its validity, practicality, and effectiveness in fourth-grade mathematics learning. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) design using the 4D model, consisting of the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate (limited implementation). The assessment product was developed using the Fishing Frenzy mode on the Blooket platform and was tested on 20 fourth-grade students. Data were collected through expert validation, observation, and field trials. The results indicate that the developed assessment instrument meets the criteria of validity, as shown by expert evaluations regarding the alignment between indicators, content, and learner characteristics. In terms of practicality, the assessment was implemented effectively even without individual devices, as the teacher only needed to display the game through a projector and call students forward sequentially to answer questions. The automatic scoring system in Blooket also facilitated efficient score recording. Regarding effectiveness, the game-based assessment successfully increased students’ motivation, focus, and confidence in answering questions. The Fishing Frenzy mode created an interactive and enjoyable classroom atmosphere, helping students understand the concept of area more optimally.Despite these positive outcomes, several challenges were encountered, including extended evaluation time due to the turn-based system, students’ limited familiarity with digital game media, and the need for more intensive classroom management. Overall, the study concludes that the Blooket-based educational game assessment is feasible, innovative, and effective for use in elementary mathematics learning.
