Abstract

Fiqh learning in Islamic schools still faces the problem of low student motivation and participation due to the dominance of lecture methods that create a monotonous learning atmosphere. This study aims to describe the application of the Verbal Football strategy in Fiqh learning and analyze its contribution to increasing student learning motivation. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with observation, interview, and documentation techniques with Fiqh teachers and eighth-grade students of Madrasah Al Falah Padang. The results showed that the application of the Verbal Football strategy packaged in the form of learning tools and student worksheets was able to create an interactive learning atmosphere through an educational game format resembling a soccer match, so that students were more active in discussions, involved in group work, motivated to compete healthily, and showed improvements in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. Thus, the Verbal Football strategy can be an alternative innovation in Fiqh learning that is effective in increasing student learning motivation in Islamic schools and is relevant to be applied in the broader context of religious education.

Abstract

In the early days of the Quran's revelation, there were only two reasons why the companions memorized the Quran: sincere intentions for Allah and to preserve the purity of the Quran. However, today, there are various motivations for memorizing the Quran. The purpose of this study is to determine the motivations for memorizing the Quran among students at Quranic colleges in Indonesia. To achieve this research objective, the author used two approaches, namely qualitative and quantitative. In the first stage, the author employed a qualitative approach involving twenty participants who were interviewed in depth. The participants were selected using purposive sampling techniques from the 2019, 2020, and 2021 cohorts. The collected data were then analyzed thematically using NVivo. The results of the first stage of the study identified nine motivations for students to memorize the Quran. These findings became the basis for the author to conduct the second stage of research using a quantitative approach. The nine motivations for memorizing the Quran were used as instruments, compiled in a Likert scale format to collect data on students’ motivations. This was done to confirm the findings in the first stage of research. In the second stage, the author involved 250 participants from a total of 1,500 students at Quranic colleges in Indonesia. The collected data were then analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 26 software. The results of the second stage showed consistency with the first stage. This study provides an overview of students’ motivations for memorizing the Quran at Quranic higher education institutions in Indonesia and shows that there has been a shift in the motives for memorization. Further studies need to revisit the issue of motivation in the context of restoring the purity of intention or making these nine motivations a reference for future research on Quran memorization.

Abstract

This study analyzes the behavior of students at the Center for Indigenous Civilization Development in Pahang, Malaysia, focusing on the influence of family environment, cultural traditions, and technology. Using a qualitative case study approach, the research engaged 36 informants through direct observation, in-depth interviews, and both open and closed questionnaires. The findings indicate that family background and cultural traditions significantly shape students’ character and habits, while technology and social media provide positive impacts such as improved access to information but also create challenges, including tendencies to neglect academic responsibilities. Behavioral differences were observed across educational levels and gender, with early-level students relying more on teacher guidance and higher-level students demonstrating greater independence. The study recommends strengthening discipline, adopting active learning methods, and improving educational facilities to enhance learning quality, thereby contributing to the development of more effective and culturally relevant educational programs for indigenous students.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education at Andalas Elementary School 22, Indonesia, due to the use of conventional learning models that did not actively engage students. To overcome this, a Resource Based Learning model was implemented, utilizing various learning resources to improve student independence and learning outcomes. This study aims to determine the effect of the Resource Based Learning model on Islamic Religious Education learning outcomes in elementary schools. The type of research used is quantitative with a quasi-experimental method, involving two groups, namely experimental and control, each consisting of 20 students. The research instrument was an achievement test with a reliability of 0.947. The data were analyzed using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov Two Sample test and the t-test with the help of SPSS version 29. The results showed a significant difference between the learning outcomes of the experimental and control groups, with a significance value of 0.01 < 0.05. This proves that the Resource-Based Learning model has a positive and significant effect on improving Islamic Education learning outcomes in elementary schools. Therefore, the application of the Resource-Based Learning model can be an alternative effective and innovative learning model to improve the quality of Islamic Education learning in elementary schools through increased active participation, independence, and learning outcomes of students.

Abstract

Akidah Akhlak is an essential component of education, particularly in shaping students' character. However, challenges such as monotonous teaching methods and the lack of engaging digital learning resources reduce students' interest. This study aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of a local wisdom-based Akidah Akhlak e-module, using "Gelamai" as a source of inspiration for local cultural values. The e-module teaches commendable and reprehensible moral behavior linked to local cultural values relevant to students' daily lives. The study involved content validation of the e-module by experts, effectiveness measurements through comparisons of pre-test and post-test scores, and practicality evaluations based on feedback from teachers and students. The results indicate that the e-module is highly valid and effective, with significant improvements in students' test scores and positive N-Gain values. Teachers and students found the e-module practical and engaging. These findings demonstrate that a local wisdom-based e-module can enhance students' motivation and understanding of Akidah Akhlak, while contributing to the development of individuals with noble character and social responsibility. The e-module is expected to serve as a more engaging and relevant learning model for students, helping them face global challenges while preserving noble local values.

Abstract

This study investigates the governance and curriculum adaptation of Kutubussalaf education within Darussalam Islamic Boarding School, emphasizing how classical Islamic scholarly traditions are preserved while selectively responding to contemporary educational demands. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through direct observation, institutional document analysis, and in-depth interviews with 12 purposively selected informants, including the kyai, teachers, administrators, and students. Data analysis utilized the Miles and Huberman interactive model, enabling a comprehensive understanding of pesantren governance and curriculum practices. The findings reveal that governance is implemented through a traditional-participatory management model, with the kyai serving as the central authority in scholarly and strategic decision-making. Curriculum planning and implementation are not strictly based on formal documentation but are embedded in scholarly traditions, daily practices, and pesantren culture. Adaptation occurs contextually through adjustments in the depth of kitab content, flexible teaching methods, and the strengthening of scholarly forums such as bahtsul masail to address contemporary religious issues. The study concludes that Kutubussalaf governance enables the integration of classical kitab curriculum with flexible scheduling, teaching methods, and role distribution among educators, offering practical insights for other salafiyah pesantren in designing curriculum decision-making mechanisms and teacher management while maintaining classical scholarly structures.
