Abstract

This study examines the relationship and relevance between religion and the state, focusing on the contribution of religion in encouraging religious participation in the public sphere amid the lack of religious contribution in the public space. The study's main objective is to identify the main patterns in the discourse to elaborate their impact on the dynamics of the relationship between religion and state. The research findings provide an in-depth understanding of how religious communication affects people's perceptions of religious values in the context of state legal and policy frameworks. This research recognizes that a better understanding of these relationships can lead to improved policies and more effective approaches to communication between religion and state. Efforts were made to build harmony between religious values and the demands of society in the country. The implications of the research include measures to prevent religious apathy towards state life, with the hope that they will play an active role, including in electoral activities that are an integral part of participation in state life. Therefore, this study details how the role of religion can enrich and deepen the interaction between religion and state, creating the basis for the positive involvement of religious people in the democratization process.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop a Pisces Atlas with contextual nuances for Grade X SMA/MA students using the Plomp Model. Contextual nuances are obtained by collecting and documenting fish commonly consumed or kept by the people of West Sumatra. The validity test was evaluated by 3 expert lecturers. The feasibility test was assessed through one-to-one (3 students) and small group (6 students) evaluations. The instrument used was a questionnaire with a Likert Scale, processed using percentage formulas, and analyzed descriptively. The fish sampling technique for the atlas was conducted through a survey method, documenting fish in traditional markets and fish auctions in Padang City and Dharmasraya Regency, West Sumatra. The identified fish were used as teaching materials for Animalia topics, focusing on Pisces, in the form of an Atlas. The atlas received very valid validity test results (89.15%), and very feasible one-to-one and small group test results (90% and 93.05%). Therefore, the developed Pisces atlas can be used for teaching in Grade X SMA/MA.

Abstract

The elderly are vulnerable to infections around the world. This is because the elderly have a decreased immune system as they age. One of the infections circulating and endangering the elderly is Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). Covid-19 causes infections in the respiratory tract and even causes death. Although all ages have the risk of getting infected, people of advanced age have the risk of getting infected and becoming severe due to physiological changes along with the ageing process. This impact can affect their perceptions, attitudes and behaviours in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic. This study used a quantitative survey design with cross-sectional. Data were collected from 170 respondents using Google which was disseminated via WhatsApp. The results showed that the majority of respondents had positive perceptions, good attitudes, and good behaviour with a percentage of 94.7%, 55.2%, and 50.5% respectively. The elderly and pre-elderly also need to increase their knowledge about COVID-19 prevention by accessing information provided by the government and related health workers.
