Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of technology-based self-service implementation on user satisfaction in the self-lending service at the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia using the Expectancy Disconfirmation Theory (EDT) model. The method used is explanatory quantitative research with 100 respondents who have used the self-lending platform machine at the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia. Measurement of research variables to determine the value of technology-based self-service Implementation and library satisfaction using a Likert scale. The data collection technique used was a survey, with data analysis through simple linear regression. The results showed that implementing technology-based self-service at the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia was classified as good, with a variable mean value of 3.35, which fell into the very high category (3.25-4.00). In addition, user satisfaction with implementing technology-based self-service is also very high, with an average value of 3.36, which means it falls into the very satisfied category. This study also found that the relationship between technology-based self-service and library satisfaction is relatively strong, with a Pearson correlation value of 0.461. The results indicate that the application of technology-based self-service significantly influences library satisfaction at the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia. Still, the influence is not dominant, with an influence value of 21.2%. Therefore, further research should be conducted to evaluate other factors affecting library satisfaction at the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the inequality in access for people with disabilities in using computers. This disparity was caused by several factors, including the limitations faced by individuals, economic factors, capacity in mastering technology, availability of suitable technology, and low social support for people with disabilities. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of the library as social capital in the computer class program for people with disabilities at the Archives and Library Department of Kudus Regency. The research method used in this study was a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data collection was carried out through semi-structured interviews and document studies. The informants in this study consisted of ten people selected through purposive sampling. These ten informants included librarians and disabled individuals participating in the computer class program. The data analysis technique used was thematic analysis, which involved analyzing interview transcripts, coding the main meanings, and identifying themes based on the similarities of the codes. The results of this study showed that the computer class program at the Archive and Library Department Kudus Regency provided many benefits to people with disabilities. The library became a place where cooperation was formed between people with disabilities and various parties, leading to the birth of a social network, which is a key element of social capital. The social capital that developed played a crucial role in helping people with disabilities overcome various social problems. With the support of social networks, mutual trust, and cooperation, people with disabilities could more easily access the resources, opportunities, and services they needed. Secondly, social capital helped people with disabilities acquire basic computer skills, which opened up opportunities for them to become more independent and actively participate in the digital world. Additionally, social capital helped people with disabilities prepare for jobs and contributed to changing their fate.

Abstract

Classifying library materials is vital for efficient storage, retrieval, and user access to necessary resources. This study aims to map the use of classification schemes in South Sulawesi University libraries and the reasons for choosing to use classification schemes in grouping their collections. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach by interviewing 49 university librarians in South Sulawesi. The results of the study show that DDC is the most widely used classification scheme by libraries in grouping library materials. The research results indicate that DDC is the most widely used classification scheme by libraries for grouping library materials, with 44 higher education libraries in Sulawesi. The breakdown shows that e-DDC has the highest usage at 57%, followed by the original English DDC at 23%, and the least used is the Indonesian translated compact DDC published by the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia at 10%. Two out of 49 libraries use the LCC and UDC classification schemes. There are still three libraries that need to use the classification scheme but use color codes, KDT, and classification textbooks. The reason for choosing the use of a classification scheme is that the notation is detailed, standardized, and easy to use (original DDC). Another reason is that it is easy to use because it is Indonesian, user-friendly, fast, and efficient, with a search menu and automated system (e-DDC). Furthermore, the reason for the need for more use of the original DDC is that this scheme is English and expensive.

Abstract

This article discusses the results of a study entitled Mapping of Digital Clippings of the Library of the Research and Development and Training Agency of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. The data studied were clippings from 2019-2023. They were analyzed quantitatively using bibliometrics to analyze the trends contained in the clippings, including media trends, author (journalist) trends, and topic or subject trends from the clipped writings. Data were obtained from the Google Drive Spreadsheet linked in the Instagram bio @perpuskemenagri. The study's findings indicate that the digital clippings for the 2019-2023 period studied consisted of 9299 article titles, came from 8 newspapers, and were written by 808 writers/journalists. Republika emerged as the dominant newspaper, and Fuji Eka Permana as the most productive writer with 624 publications, and the topic "Hajj and Umrah" was the most dominant topic, with 1267 titles during the period. The analysis of topic dynamics illustrates a shift in themes, such as the dominance of "halal and haram" in 2019, followed by "Covid-19 pandemic" in 2020 and 2021, and "hajj and umrah" in 2022 and 2023. Other topics such as culture, research, and politics are less frequently discussed in articles. This study outlines the progression of religious issues in Indonesia and has the potential to support further analysis on how digital clippings influence the dissemination of religious information to the public.

Abstract

School libraries play an important role in improving learners' basic literacy in primary schools. With the strengthening of interactive reading corners, libraries can provide a supportive environment for interesting and fun reading activities for learners. Interactive reading corners offer a diverse collection of books that match learners' interests and needs, and integrate various literacy activities, such as storytelling and educational film screenings using technology. Through this approach, learners are encouraged to be actively involved in the learning process, effectively improving their motivation and basic literacy skills. This study aims to explore the effectiveness of the interactive reading corner programme in improving grade 3 learners' basic literacy skills at SD Negeri 2 Kayuambon. Using a qualitative approach and descriptive methods, the study involved 38 learners to observe their interest in reading, engagement in the storytelling programme and utilisation of smartboard technology. The results showed that although challenges such as low interest in reading and learners' difficulty focusing became obstacles, the library's efforts in updating the reading collection and creating an interesting learning atmosphere had a positive impact. The number of visits to the interactive reading corner increased by 15%, including the participation of students who were previously less interested in reading. In addition, the storytelling programme that was implemented showed challenges in increasing student engagement, but the use of smartboards as learning aids attracted the attention of 90% of learners. Thus, innovative and collaborative strategies between teachers and librarians are needed to optimise the development of basic literacy skills, so as to support learners' future academic achievements.
