Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the capacity of the Pulau Bulang community in tourism marketing through social media and digital platforms for the promotion of cultural heritage and mangrove ecotourism. Pulau Bulang possesses significant natural and cultural tourism potential; however, limited digital literacy and inadequate tourism marketing strategies have constrained its visibility and development as a sustainable tourism destination. The program was implemented using a participatory and community-based approach, involving local community members, youth groups, and tourism-related stakeholders. The activities were conducted through a series of mentoring sessions, interactive discussions, and hands-on practices focusing on digital content creation, social media utilization, and basic destination branding. Participants were guided to directly apply digital marketing concepts by producing and sharing tourism-related content that highlights local cultural heritage and mangrove ecosystems. Evaluation was carried out through observation, participant feedback, and assessment of digital outputs produced during the program. The results indicate an improvement in community awareness and skills in utilizing digital platforms for tourism promotion. Participants demonstrated increased confidence and ability to promote Pulau Bulang as a tourism destination in a more structured and sustainable manner. This program contributes to strengthening community participation in tourism development and supports sustainable tourism principles through the integration of environmental conservation, cultural preservation, and digital-based promotion strategies.

Abstract

Assistance in the accreditation of scientific journals is a strategic step in improving the quality of academic publication governance, especially in the Defense Electrical Engineering Study Program at the Magelang Military Academy. Scientific journals play an important role as a medium for disseminating the research results of lecturers and cadets, as well as a means of strengthening the culture of research and scientific development in the field of defense technology. Therefore, efforts to assist journal accreditation are an urgent need so that journal management meets the national standards set by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. The mentoring activities are focused on strengthening journal management based on Open Journal Systems (OJS), starting from structuring the editorial structure, preparing publication ethics policies, improving article templates, to optimizing the peer review process. In addition, the assistance also includes improving the quality of the article substance, publication consistency, completeness of metadata, and fulfilling the technical aspects of accreditation such as DOI, indexation, and citation. Through a participatory approach, the coaching team works intensively with journal managers to ensure that each stage of accreditation can be understood and implemented properly. The results of the mentoring activities showed a significant increase in journal managers' understanding of accreditation standards, improved quality of editorial governance, and the readiness of journals to participate in the national accreditation process. This assistance not only has an impact on the administrative aspect, but also encourages the professionalism of the management and the sustainability of the journal as an academic asset of the institution. With the realization of accredited journals, the Defense Electrical Engineering Study Program at the Magelang Military Academy is expected to be able to strengthen its academic reputation, support the tridharma of higher education, and contribute to the development of national defense science and technology.

Abstract

This community service program (PKM) conducted by Batam Tourism Polytechnic at SMAN 3 Batam aimed to increase students' awareness of food waste reduction and support the teaching-learning process through a printer donation. The one-day activity involved 50 students and 5 teachers, utilizing interactive socialization methods such as presentations, videos, and small group discussions to address the causes, impacts, and solutions of food waste, followed by the handover of a multifunction printer with a technical demonstration. Qualitative evaluation through observation and informal interviews revealed that students significantly improved their understanding of food waste, actively participated in proposing practical solutions (e.g., taking adequate portions, utilizing leftovers), and expressed intentions to form a student-led waste management club, while the printer donation immediately facilitated the printing of teaching materials and assignments, reducing learning delays. This integrated approach combining environmental education with physical facility support, even in a short period, produced meaningful and sustainable impacts, aligning with SDGs 4 (Quality Education) and 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
