Abstract

This research aims to (1) determine the feasibility of the herpetofauna catalogue media based on the assessment of material experts and media experts and (2) determine the feasibility of the herpetofauna catalogue media based on the assessment of learning practitioner experts and students. This research employs the Research and Development (RD) method, utilising the ADDIE model, which is limited to the ADD (Analysis, Design, Development) stage. This research was conducted at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UNY, with the subjects of this research comprising a material expert, a media expert, a biology teacher in grade X, and 26 students. Data collection was conducted using assessment instruments tailored for media experts, material experts, biology teachers of grade X high schools, and students. These instruments were compiled based on the assessment instruments outlined in high school textbooks, as per the BSNP (National Education Standards Agency) guidelines, and relevant research instruments. Data analysis was carried out descriptively and qualitatively. The results of this research are the Herpetofauna Catalogue of the Nglanggeran Ancient Volcano Area, serving as an alternative learning medium for Grade X high school students on biodiversity material. The developed catalogue has met the feasibility criteria assessed by material experts, media experts, learning practitioner experts, and students. This research is important in providing teachers with alternative learning media that capitalise on local potential. Further research is needed on the effectiveness of the media and the development of a catalogue for a wider range of materials.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) Determine the gastropod diversity index at Nguyahan Beach; (2) Determine the results of the booklet's feasibility test as a learning resource in improving students' Scientific Skill Explanation; (3) Determine students' responses to the use of the Nguyahan Beach gastropod e-booklet. This study is an exploratory research and development (RD) project using the 4D model (define, design, develop, disseminate). The resulting product is the Nguyahan Beach gastropod e-booklet. A feasibility collection was carried out by having material expert validators and media expert validators complete a validation questionnaire. Data collection on increasing learning interest and mastery was observed from both test and non-test results. The test results were derived from the pre-test and post-test scores, while the non-test results were obtained by having students and teachers complete a response questionnaire, serving as supporting variables. Data analysis for both tests and non-tests used standard gain. The results of this study indicate that: (1) Gastropods found at Nguyahan Beach, Gunungkidul have a high diversity index of 3.046. Consisting of 2 orders of gastropods with 10 families, 15 genera and 29 species; (2) The results of the N-Gain test in the development research were 63.67, which is classified as moderate. (3) Student responses through the readability test obtained an average percentage of 95.5% which means the product is very suitable for use in learning. Teachers can use the results of this study as an alternative teaching material in the classroom that is contextual.

Abstract

This study aims to (1) determine students' learning experiences on the material of the human motor system; (2) determine students' learning outcomes on the material of the human motor system; (3) determine students' exercise habits; (4) determine the relationship between learning experiences on the material of the human motor system and student learning outcomes; (5) determine the relationship between learning experiences on the material of the human motor system and student exercise habits. This study employs a quantitative data analysis approach in a survey study. A sample of 124 students was selected using the Census technique. Data distribution utilised a Likert scale questionnaire for the variables of learning experience and exercise habits, and test questions for the variable of learning outcomes. Data analysis techniques employed include descriptive statistical analysis, normality tests, linearity tests, Pearson correlation tests, and cross-tabulation. The results of the study: (1) students' learning experiences are in the moderate category (39%); (2) students' learning outcomes are in the moderate category (44%); (3) students' exercise habits are in the moderate category (40%); (4) there is no relationship between learning experiences on the material of the human motor system and student learning outcomes; (5) There is a positive relationship between the experience of learning about the human movement system material and students' exercise habits with a moderate relationship (significance value 0.000 0.005 with a correlation degree of 0.454). Teachers can utilise this research as a means to provide contextual biology learning experiences for students, particularly in the area of movement systems.

Abstract

This study aims to identify students' learning difficulties in ecosystem materials based on differences in learning strategies and factors causing learning difficulties, and to describe the efforts made by students and teachers to overcome these learning difficulties. This study was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Bantul from February to May 2025. The method used in this study was a combination of descriptive, quantitative and qualitative methods. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study showed that students experienced fewer learning difficulties in the Discovery Learning (DL) strategy compared to the Project-based Learning (PjBL) strategy. The factor causing learning difficulties in the Discovery Learning (DL) strategy was low student interest in learning, whereas the cause in the Project-based Learning (PBL) strategy was the numerous community activities in which students participated and the teacher's lack of readiness. The efforts made by students included dividing tasks into groups and utilising additional learning resources, while teachers played a role in providing scaffolding and extending the project's duration. These findings suggest that the selection of learning strategies should consider the characteristics and readiness of students to learn.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences in students' cognitive learning outcomes after applying the Team Game Tournament (TGT) and Number Head Together (NHT) cooperative learning models to the subject of coordination systems for class XI at SMA Negeri 1 Karangmojo. This quasi-experimental study used a pre-test-post-test non-equivalent control group design. Sampling was carried out using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection used pre-test and post-test questions in the form of multiple-choice exam questions. The instruments used in this study were validated modules, pre-test questions, and post-test questions, which were validated for content and construct by experts. The data analysis techniques employed were the Wilcoxon test and the Mann-Whitney U test, both using SPSS version 26.0, to compare effect size values. This study shows the following results: (1) There is an increase in students' cognitive abilities after the use of cooperative learning models, both TGT and NHT types. (2) There are differences in the results of increasing students' cognitive abilities after the application of cooperative learning models of TGT and NHT types. (3) The cooperative learning models of the TGT and NHT types based on the Effect Size value have a high influence on increasing students' cognitive abilities with a Cohen's NHT value of 2.838, which is greater than the Cohen's TGT value of 1.025. The results of this study are expected to be used by teachers as a basis for selecting a learning model, especially in biology education.
