Abstract

Hikikomori merupakan orang yang berdiam diri di rumah atau di kamar dalam waktu yang lama dan hidup tanpa berinteraksi dengan orang lain. Fenomena hikikomori, tidak hanya muncul dalam kehidupan dunia nyata, tetapi juga direpresentasikan kedalam sebuah karya sastra seperti novel. Salah satunya yaitu novel dengan judul NHKにようこそ dimana tokohnya berperilaku hikikomori. Peneltian ini bertujuan menganalisis karakteristik, perilaku dan faktor penyebab hikikomori yang terjadi pada tokoh utama dalam novel NHKにようこそ Volume 1, dengan data yang berupa kutipan dari teks dan dialog dalam novel. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan psikologi sastra. Kajian teori yang digunakan yaitu kajian teori hikikomori menurut Fong, Saito Tamaki, Sadatsugu Kudou dan Michael Dziesinski. Hasil penelitian ini, dibagi menjadi 3 kategori dengan total 58 data, yakni: 1) karakteristik hikikomori hanya ditemukan 6 dari 8 sub kategori, salah satunya yaitu menarik diri dari lingkungan sosial, mengurung diri sekitar 3-6 bulan dan cenderung seorang pria. 2) Perilaku hikikomori ditemukan total 9 sub kategori, salah satunya yaitu: mengurung diri, tidak memiliki hubungan dengan orang lain selain keluarga dan takut serta khawatir berlebihan. 3) Faktor penyebab hikikomori hanya ditemukan 13 dari 14 sub kategori, salah satunya yaitu: amae, ijime dan ketidakjelasan peran laki-laki (tidak yakin akan masa depan). Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis shouryakugo yang digunakan dalam manga “Komi-san wa, Komyushou desu” volume 24-25. Metode deskriptif kualitatif dan pendekatan morfologi digunakan untuk mengungkap serta mendapatkan gambaran penelitian secara mendalam tentang proses pembentukan dan jenis-jenis shouryakugo yang terdapat pada manga “Komi-san wa, Komyushou desu” volume 24-25. Kompilasi data dalam penelitian ini, memanfaatkan teknik baca dan catat. Sedangkan untuk menganalisis data akan menggunakan teori Nakayama mengenai proses pembentukan shouryakugo. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya total 128 shouryakugo, dengan 23 shouryakugo memiliki makna yang berbeda. ke 23 shouryakugo tersebut diklasifikasian berdasarkan pola atau proses pembentukan katanya, menjadi: 3 kata termasuk singkatan jenis zenbu shouryakukei dengan pola pemendekan di awal kata, 9 kata termasuk singkatan jenis gobu shouryakukei dengan pola pemendekan di belakang kata, 3 kata termasuk singkatan jenis chuu shouryakukei dengan pola pembentukan di tengah kata, 5 kata termasuk singkatan jenis kousei youso tanbun ketsugoukei dengan pola pembentukan di tengah dan akhir kata, 3 kata termasuk singkatan jenis romaji shouryaku yang menyingkat kata berdasarkan huruf romaji.

Abstract

Abstract. In this research, the writer discusses and analyzes the hierarchy of human needs of Don Tillman in a novel entitled The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion. Don Tillman, the main character may have a perfect life but he has a trouble to fit in socially. This study uses the theory of the hierarchy of needs of Abraham Maslow. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. The data source used for the research is taken from the novel. Data collection is done by reading the novel, marking the data, grouping the data, and selecting the data. To analyze the data is done by analyzing and describing the data presented. This research shows that Don Tillman has fulfilled his five needs starting from physiological needs, safety, love and belonging, appreciation, and self-actualization. Even though there are obstacles in meeting these needs, especially the need for security and the need for love and belonging, Don Tillman is able to overcome them and successfully fulfill these needs.

Abstract

Analyzing the main attraction of photocards to collectors, in which the focus of this study is to analyze the poses of Enhypen’s photocards and on why certain poses might trigger the desire for collectors within this community to buy them. Photocards is one of the items included in the production of the album when idol groups are making their music comebacks. Photocard consists of a picture with an interesting pose and usually comes in a 5.5 x 8.5 cm photo and printed on a carton paper; some are as thick as a debit card, with designs ranging from a hologram to a lenticular. This study based the research of this topic using Barthes's semiotics theory and the theory of the circuit of culture by Stuart Hall as well as focusing on the consumption of the collectors using the theory of consumption by Baudrillard. Qualitative methods such as semiotics will be used to collect data while also used ethnographic design to interview collectors within the community on why they decided to collect photocards. The researchers has conducted interviews to answer the questions in this topic to seven collectors inside the community regarding the reason on whether or not they decided to collect photocards based on their poses or because of their expensive price.

Abstract

This study is about Lia Overbrook's Anorexia in Laurie Halse Anderson's Wintergirls. There is one problem statements for this study, that is How is Lia’s anorexia described in Wintergirls? The aims of this study are to analyze Lia’s anorexia. To conduct the study, the researcher uses psychological approach. This study uses descriptive qualitative method because the source of data comes from the utterances in the novel. Lia develops Anorexia Nervosa because of the pressure and societal expectations from her mother. Lia finds her solace in internet. She exposed with dangerous advice that further perpetuate the cycle of disordered eating. Lia experiences extreme weight loss because her obsession in weight loss and fuel her disordered behaviors, that is anorexia nervosa. Lia' preoccupation with food calories, and self-blame of her death friend develop her Anorexia Nervosa.

Abstract

Alih wahana mencakup aktivitas penerjemahan, penyaduran , dan juga pemindahan dari satu karya sastra ke karya sastra lain. Yang didalamnya juga mencakup tiga elemen proses mengalihwahanakan, yaitu : pengurangan, penambahan, dan perubahan variasi. Data dalam manga adalah dialog dan konteks, sedangkan pada anime adalah dialog dan subtitle. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan manga Tower of God season satu episode 1-78 yang muncul tahun 2016 dan anime Kami no Tou episode 1-13 yang tayang tahun 2020. Metode dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teori yang digunakan penelitian ini adalah Teori Alih Wahana dari Damono yang dan Teori Pengkajian Fiksi dari Nurgiyantoro. Hasil penelitian menyatakan terdapat 87 data. Data yang mengalami pengurangan sebanyak 26 data. Pengurangan pada alur sebanyak 15 data, pengurangan tokoh sebanyak 10 data dan peciutan latar sebanyak 1 data. Penambahan sebanyak 24 data. Penambahan alur sebanyak 13 data, penambahan tokoh sebanyak 6 data, dan penambahan latar terdapat 6 data. Perubahan variasi sebanyak 36 data. Perubahan variasi alur sebanyak 11 data, perubahan variasi tokoh dan penokohan sebanyak 16 data, perubahan variasi latar sebanyak 8 data dan perubahan variasi gaya bahasa sebanyak 1 data.

Abstract

The study aims to examine Post Infidelity Stress Disorder (PISD) in Taylor Jenkins Reid’s Malibu Rising. The discussion is focused on one of the characters in the novel, June. This study is a descriptive qualitative study with psychological approach. Psychological approach is applied due to the fact that this study concerns with the psychological motivation of the character in the novel. The result of the analysis shows that June has one criterion to be indicated as someone who tends to suffer from Post Infidelity Stress Disorder (PISD) i.e. dependent personality. June’s PISD are indicated through several symptoms ̶ exposure to a life threatening, experience of intense fear, hopelessness and horror, re-experiencing the event, avoidance of reminders of the event, emotional numbing, heightening anxiety, and irritability and rage. To deal with her PISD, she tries to avoid reminding the events that reminds her of her husband’s infidelity as the way to protect herself. June’s PISD affects her life and her children. She becomes addicted to alcohol and loses her physical health that eventually makes her die. Moreover, June’s PISD has also made her children change their attitude towards June. Her children are ashamed of her so that they always avoided her especially when they are in public places.

Abstract

This research seeks to identify Michael Jackson song lyrics include figurative language. As a result, the researcher came up with a question to represent the issue. What forms of figurative language does Michael Jackson utilize in his songs Album History: Past, Present and Future, Book I? According to this study, Figurative language comes in 12 different types such as Simile, Metaphor, Personification, Allusion, Anaphora, Idiom, Onomatopoeia, Metonymy, Synecdoche, Hyperbole, Syntax, Repetition, and Imagery are some of its forms. This research is made by William Haudinata Prakasa from Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya. The researcher employed a qualitative approach since the data were gathered utilizing word documents and a method of systematic context text analysis (words, phrases, lines, and sentences). By categorizing words with similar meanings, qualitative analysis enables researchers to comprehend the text. The researcher used 20 songs from Michael Jackson Songs Album History: Past, Present and Future, Book I as a tool to identify the data that will be studied based on this research. According to the research, there are 86 datas from each Michael Jackson's songs, including 21 personifications, 23 metaphors, 20 hyperboles, 5 repetitions, 5 similes, 2 idioms, 1 imagery, 2 allusions, 2 anaphoras, 1 onomatopoeia, 1 metonymy, and 3 synecdoches.

Abstract

This research discusses about Beth’s Struggle for Love in the novel Sing Me to Sleep by Angela Morrison (2010). It aims to find out the motivation Beth’s struggle and how she struggles to get her love. Based on the result of the study, it can be concluded that the motivation focused in Sing Me to Sleep by Angela Morrison is devided into two types of motivation, namely intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation. In discussing Beth’s struggle for love, Suryani’s theory of struggle is applied. The theory proposes four kinds of struggle i,e. The struggle to accept the fact of life, the struggle to achieve dream, intrinsic struggle and extrinsic struggle. This research applies descriptive qualitative method with psycologhical approach. The results of the analysis shows that Beth is intrinsically motivated to struggle to be loved by doing facial surgery. After the facial surgary he transforms into a beautiful girl and this makes her feel confidence and eventually she finds her love

Abstract

This study aims to examine the anxiety and defense mechanisms of Rachel Gerhardt in Ruth Ware's The Turn of the Key. The purpose of this study is to analyze Rachel Gerhardt's types of anxiety and then establish which defense mechanism Rachel Gerhardt uses. This research is performed because anxiety always occurs in everyday life and subconsciously employs defense mechanisms to overcome the anxiety. The data source of this study is the novel The Turn of The Key by Ruth Ware. The method applies in this research is the descriptive qualitative method. This study uses the theory of psychoanalysis and defense mechanisms by Sigmund Freud. This study uses a psychological approach because it applies psychoanalytical theory and aims to reveal how the subconscious expression works, especially the defense mechanism. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that Rachel experiences three types of anxiety: realistic anxiety, neurotic anxiety, and moral anxiety. Rachel uses eight defense mechanisms, such as rationalization, sublimation, reaction formation, regression, displacement, projection, introjection, and fixation, to relieve the anxiety that Rachel experience.
