Abstract

Abstract: Lembaga Amil Zakat (LAZ) has a strategic role in managing social funds, where the success of fundraising is largely determined by the quality of communication strategies. This study aims to analyze the role of communication strategies in LAZ Al Haromain's fundraising activities, focusing on communication patterns, channels used, and their impact on fundraising. The research method uses a descriptive qualita-tive approach with a case study at LAZ Al Haromain. Data collection techniques were conducted through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation studies. Informants were selected purposively, including the head of the institution, the fundraising team, and a number of donors. The results showed that LAZ Al Haromain developed a fundraising communication strategy through three main approaches: (1) Personal communication through relationships and social networks, (2) Utilization of digital media and social plat-forms, and (3) Creation of persuasive narratives based on social impact. The communication channels used include social media, websites, online fundraising platforms, and direct communication through socializa-tion and friendship activities. In-depth analysis reveals that communication strategies play a significant role in increasing donor trust, mobilizing social participation, and encouraging growth in the volume of funds raised. Factors such as institutional credibility, reporting transparency, and the ability to communicate so-cial impact are key to successful fundraising. The research concluded that LAZ Al Haromain's communica-tion strategy has integrated traditional and digital approaches comprehensively. Research recommenda-tions include developing more innovative communication strategies, increasing digital capacity, and strengthening social impact narratives to encourage donor participation.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the patterns of zakat fund utilization by recipients (mustahik) and identify factors influencing these utilization patterns. Using a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews of 20 zakat recipients, this study reveals that the majority of zakat funds are utilized to fulfill daily basic needs such as food supplies. In addition, the study found allocations of zakat funds for children's education, small business capital, and healthcare needs. Factors influencing utilization patterns include the urgency of family needs, demographic characteristics, recipients' experience and skills, and the amount of zakat received. This research concludes that although consumptive utilization remains dominant, there is a positive trend where some recipients are beginning to allocate zakat funds for long-term investments such as education and productive enterprises, which potentially provide more sustainable impact on poverty alleviation and welfare improvement.

Abstract

Previous studies on corporate zakat have primarily focused on the different fiqh perspectives regarding whether a company can be classified as a muzakki (zakat payer) and how this relates to Indonesia's zakat regulations. These studies generally divide scholarly opinions into two camps: one that rejects corporate zakat due to the absence of explicit texts in hadith and the view that zakat is only obligatory for individual, mukallaf Muslims; and another that accepts the company as a shakhṣiyyah iʿtibāriyyah (legal entity) equivalent to a juridical person obligated to pay zakat. Although both perspectives reference Article 1 point 5 of Law No. 23 of 2011 on Zakat Management, their analysis remains descriptive and limited to comparative opinions. A systematic juridical reading of the company's legal status as a zakat subject within the national zakat system is still lacking. This article addresses that gap by applying a normative legal approach to explore the company's position as a legal subject under Islamic law and national legislation. It emphasizes the need for legal reform to explicitly integrate corporate zakat into Indonesia's zakat regulatory framework. The novelty lies in its systematic normative approach to establishing corporate zakat as a juridical obligation, contributing to the development of Islamic law and zakat governance in the modern state context.

Abstract

This article aims to describe the challenges of applying sharia principles in the digitalization of zakat; between system efficiency and adherence to Islamic law. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method, with a literature-based approach. Various works related to this research were collected from various literature sources, including scientific journals, online articles, books, documents, and others. The result of this research is that the digitalization of zakat provides a great opportunity to improve the effectiveness, transparency, and ease of access to the zakat system, but it also has various challenges, which include regulatory vagueness, high sharia compliance demands, data security and consumer protection, lack of digital Islamic financial literacy, and digital infrastructure inequality. Therefore, cooperation is needed from various parties, including the government, financial institutions, religious authorities, and the community, by making maqashid sharia as the main foundation. So that the digitalization of zakat is not only legal under Islamic law but also beneficial for the general public, and also still adheres to sharia principles.
