Abstract

Early childhood is a critical period for establishing character through the internalization of Islamic faith and moral values. This study analyzes the implementation of Akidah Akhlak learning as a foundation for character development in children at the Intan Pertiwi Early Childhood Education Institution, with a focus on honesty, empathy, and discipline. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and parents, and curriculum documentation. The findings show that Islamic creed and ethics are taught through three main strategies: integrating values into daily routines, sharing stories of Islamic role models, and employing play- and singing-based contextual learning. These methods have effectively fostered positive behaviors, such as sharing, honesty, and respect, as well as increased discipline among children. The study concludes that teaching Islamic creed and ethics provides a strong basis for character development, with success relying on contextual approaches, teacher role modeling, and collaboration between schools and parents.

Abstract

Academic stress is a common problem experienced by university students and may have negative impacts on mental health and academic performance. This study aims to analyze the proportion of students experiencing high levels of academic stress and to estimate the confidence interval (CI) of that proportion. The method employed is descriptive statistical analysis using a proportion confidence interval approach based on data obtained from a student stress questionnaire. The data were analyzed by calculating stress level proportions and presented in the form of proportion tables and bar chart visualizations to illustrate the distribution of students’ stress levels. The results indicate that a proportion of students experience high academic stress within a certain confidence interval range, reflecting the uncertainty of proportion estimation in the student population. These findings suggest that high academic stress remains a significant condition among students and requires attention. Therefore, this study is expected to provide an initial overview of students’ stress conditions and serve as a consideration for higher education institutions in designing stress prevention and management programs to improve student well-being.

Abstract

The regulation on Interim Replacement (PAW) under Article 239 of Law Number 17 of 2014 concerning the MPR, DPR, DPD, and DPRD (the MD3 Law) places the authority to dismiss members of the House of Representatives entirely in the hands of political parties. This normative design raises serious constitutional concerns because it severs the representational mandate between voters and the representatives they elect through direct elections as mandated by Article 1 paragraph (2) and Article 22E paragraph (1) of the 1945 Constitution. When the people, as the holders of sovereignty, have no mechanism to hold their representatives accountable during their term of office, the representative function substantively transforms into a mere extension of political parties. This condition results in the erosion of constituents’ political rights to ensure the integrity, accountability, and fidelity of their representatives to their electoral mandate, as well as creating legal uncertainty regarding the position of voters as subjects of sovereignty, which is contrary to Article 28D paragraph (1) of the 1945 Constitution.

Abstract

This article examines the importance of political and governance reform in Indonesia as a means to establish a government that is more transparent, efficient, and responsive to public interests. The dominant influence of politics in governmental policymaking constitutes one of the main challenges within Indonesia’s governance system. The dominance of major political parties in the political arena often results in policies driven primarily by short-term party interests rather than the public good. Consequently, reform of the political party system and the electoral system becomes a crucial step in improving the quality of democracy in Indonesia. This study also discusses how decentralization of power can enhance regional welfare by granting local governments greater authority to formulate policies that correspond to local needs and conditions. The electoral system is another central focus of this study, particularly the proposal to adopt a mixed-member proportional (MMP) system to create fairer and more balanced parliamentary representation, thereby reducing disparities in power distribution between large and small political parties. The main recommendations derived from this analysis include electoral system reform, strengthening the role of smaller political parties, and expanding decentralization to accelerate equitable development across Indonesia. The implementation of these reforms is expected to improve democratic quality, reinforce political stability, and realize a government that is more responsive to the interests of society.

Abstract

Listening skills are a fundamental competence that students need to master, particularly at the elementary school level. However, listening activities are still often perceived as less engaging and tend to be monotonous. The development of educational technology, including audiobook media, offers opportunities to support the improvement of students’ listening skills. This study aims to analyze the use of East Kalimantan folklore audiobooks among elementary school students as an alternative learning medium that is expected to address students’ low interest and boredom in listening activities, thereby enabling more effective listening. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach with fourth-grade students of SDN 004 Samarinda Utara as the research subjects. Data collection techniques included listening comprehension tests consisting of four aspects—memory, comprehension, application, and analysis—as well as interviews and documentation. The findings indicate that students still experience difficulties in recalling important information from the stories. In addition, students are not accustomed to engaging in structured listening activities. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the implementation of listening activities using audiobook media has not yet fully reduced students’ boredom, resulting in suboptimal understanding of the content, meaning, and messages conveyed in the stories.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the of teachers' basic teaching skills and identify the constraints faced in the Social Studies (IPS) learning process in Grade V at SDN 011 Samarinda Utara. The research is motivated by the importance of pedagogical competence in revitalizing Social Studies material, which tends to be theoretical and information-dense for elementary school students. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews with classroom teachers, and documentation studies. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, encompassing data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the Grade V teacher has implemented set induction, explaining, and classroom management skills effectively through a contextual approach based on the local environment of Samarinda. However, higher-order questioning skills and small-group discussion leadership remain suboptimal. The primary obstacles identified include limited time allocation, high student density per class (overcrowded classrooms), and technical constraints regarding digital media infrastructure. This study concludes that teachers must perform creative adaptations in applying teaching skills to overcome infrastructure limitations to create a more interactive and meaningful Social Studies learning experience.
