Abstract

This study analyzes the temporal representation of verbs (fi'il) in Surah al-Baqarah and how the meaning of time is understood and translated into Indonesian. Using qualitative-descriptive methods and data from the mushaf of the Qur'an and the official translation of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia, this study examines fi’il māḍī and muḍāri' morphosyntaxically, semantically, and pragmatically. The results show that temporal representations in the Qur'an are not linear and literal as in traditional Arabic grammar, but rather contextual and dynamic. Fi’il māḍī and muḍāri' have a flexibility of the meaning of time that depends on the context of syntax, qarīnah, and rhetorical functions in discourse. On the translation side, the Indonesian version generally adjusts the verb tense literally, but shifts in meaning often occur due to differences in language structure. Therefore, understanding the meaning of Qur'anic verbs requires an integrative approach between linguistic analysis and translation strategies. The implications of this research emphasize the importance of teaching nahwu al-Qur'an that combines grammatical aspects with pragmatic contexts and discourse to produce a deeper and more accurate understanding of the text.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the stylistic features employed in conveying divine promises to believers in Surah Muhammad, as well as the linguistic patterns manifested in its verses. The research adopts a qualitative descriptive method with a stylistic approach, focusing specifically on verses that articulate divine promises. The data were collected through close reading and note-taking techniques and subsequently analyzed using linguistic theories encompassing phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics. The findings indicate that: (1) the dominance of the consonantal sounds lām, mīm, and nūn carries particular stylistic significance, functioning as central phonological elements closely related to the contextual framework of Surah Muhammad. The articulation of divine promises to believers is frequently introduced through oath-based constructions. (2) The use of fiʿl māḍī and fiʿl muḍāriʿ reflects the continuous and enduring nature of divine promises, which apply both in worldly life and in the hereafter. (3) The employment of emphatic structures (tawkīd) and prohibitive expressions serves to reinforce the magnitude and certainty of these promises. (4) The selection of polysemous diction contributes to semantic depth and allows for broader interpretative understanding of the messages conveyed in the verses.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the application of techniques, methods, and practices in the context of humanitarian conflicts in translating Al-Sȃir fȋ al-Darb by Badȋ’ Al-Qasyȃ’alah. The research method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. The sources of this research are primary sources, namely Al-Sȃir fȋ al-Darb, and secondary sources, which include books related to translation and several dictionaries such as the al-Munawir Arabic-Indonesian dictionary, the al-Mufid dictionary, and Ma`ani. The results of the research consist of 20 data points on translation methods and ideologies with representations of humanitarian conflicts. The conclusion of this study is that the ideologies of domestication and foreignization in the representation of the context of humanitarian conflict in Al-Sȃir fȋ al-Darb can be used in the case of translating texts so that the target readers can feel the nuances or emotional impact of the author, because humanitarian conflict is a universal issue between Indonesia, Lebanon, and Palestine, where humanitarian conflicts frequently occur.

Abstract

This study compares the accuracy and quality of Arabic-to-Indonesian administrative document translation through two approaches: conventional (manual) translation using an Arabic dictionary and automated translation using Artificial Intelligence. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method with a comparative case study design, focusing on a Bachelor's Degree Certificate in Journalism from Akhbar Elyom Academy, Egypt (2017). The data corpus consists of the original Arabic version of the certificate and two translated versions: one produced through conventional translation and the other generated by ChatGPT. Analysis was conducted side by side, emphasizing semantic accuracy, lexical equivalence, and textual readability. The theoretical framework draws upon the equivalence concepts of Eugene Nida and Peter Newmark, as well as diction evaluation principles proposed by Gorys Keraf. The findings indicate that conventional (manual) translation performs better, particularly in terms of denotative and lexical accuracy, while ChatGPT translation tends to excel in readability, contextual appropriateness, and the use of more common diction. This study recommends a hybrid approach that integrates the strengths of traditional Arabic dictionaries with advancements in artificial intelligence to enhance the quality of Arabic-to-Indonesian translation.

The forms of the main character's traits include patience, persistence, anger, attentiveness, unstable, hatred, and vengeance. This research also reveals the personality structure of the main character who has a complete personality structure, although Id is more dominant than Ego and Superego with the amount of data Id 4 data, Ego 2 data, and Superego 3 data. This research contributes to the development of Arabic literature studies by analyzing characterizations and psychological aspects in literary works so as to expand the scope of Arabic literary theory.

Abstract

Clan surnames are linguistic forms produced through long cultural processes. This study examines clan surnames of the Hadhrami Arab community in Pasar Kliwon, Surakarta, using a morphemic approach. The analysis categorizes clan surnames based on the number of constituent elements and patterns of morphological formation (wazn). In addition, this study investigates the clan naming system, focusing on naming practices and degrees of semantic opacity. Data were collected using elicitation-based interviews with community informants. The analysis employed distributional analysis through immediate constituent segmentation and referential analysis to identify linguistic patterns and their determining factors. The findings show that Hadhrami clan surnames display systematic morphological patterns that reflect both Arabic linguistic traditions and the cultural framework of the community. Understanding these clan surnames provides important insights into the cultural patterns of the Hadhrami Arab descendants in Pasar Kliwon, Surakarta.
