Abstract

Background: Malnutrition in toddlers remains a serious public health issue, particularly in Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, where prevalence rates are above the national average. Maternal knowledge plays a pivotal role in ensuring adequate nutrition and preventing undernutrition in early childhood. This study aimed to examine the relationship between maternal nutritional knowledge and the nutritional status of toddlers at Posyandu Matahari and Sekar Wangi in the working area of Puskesmas Pahandut. Method: This study employed a cross-sectional design with a correlational approach. A total of 65 respondents were selected using the Slovin formula with a 5% margin of error. Data were collected through structured questionnaires assessing maternal knowledge, while children’s nutritional status was determined using weight-for-age Z-scores in accordance with WHO standards. Data were analyzed using Chi-square statistical tests to identify the relationship between maternal knowledge and child nutritional status. Results: Findings revealed that 47.7% of mothers had low knowledge, 40% moderate, and 12.3% good knowledge. Among toddlers, 67.7% had normal nutritional status, 24.6% were undernourished, and 7.7% were at risk of overnutrition. Chi-square analysis indicated a significant relationship between maternal knowledge and toddler nutritional status (p = 0.001). Conclusion: Maternal nutritional knowledge significantly influences toddler nutritional outcomes. Improving maternal knowledge through health education and community-based interventions is essential to reduce undernutrition prevalence and promote child health.

Abstract

Background: Adolescents are a group undergoing rapid growth and development, which requires a balanced nutritional intake. A lack of knowledge and a negative attitude toward balanced nutrition can be a risk factor for nutritional problems, including both undernutrition and overnutrition. According to WHO in 2021, around 196 million adolescents worldwide experienced undernutrition, and more than 340 million children and adolescents were obese. Objective: This research aims to determine the correlation between knowledge and attitude about balanced nutrition with the nutritional status of 10th-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Palangka Raya. Methods: This research used a correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. A total sample of 228 students was selected using proportional random sampling. The research instruments included a questionnaire to assess knowledge and attitudes, and anthropometric measurements using Body Mass Index (BMI) to assess nutritional status. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank test. Results: There was a significant correlation between knowledge about balanced nutrition and nutritional status (p value < 0.042). However, there was no significant correlation between attitude and nutritional status (p value > 0.951). Conclusion: There is a significant correlation between knowledge of balanced nutrition and nutritional status among tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Palangka Raya. Students with better knowledge tend to have better nutritional status, as adequate understanding encourages healthier food choices. However, there is no significant correlation between attitude and nutritional status. Although most respondents had a positive attitude, it was not always reflected in actual behavior. External factors such as family environment, availability of healthy food, and daily habits also influence overall nutritional status.

Abstract

This study aims to explore patient satisfaction with refraction examination services at Optic ARO Gapopin in 2025. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with patients who had undergone refraction examinations. Thematic analysis was employed to identify recurring patterns and perceptions regarding the service. The findings reveal five main themes influencing patient satisfaction: (1) facility comfort, where patients appreciated the modern equipment but noted limited waiting area space; (2) competence and accuracy of examination, as patients trusted the examiners’ skills and found the explanations clear and easy to understand; (3) staff attitude and empathy, with patients highlighting friendliness, patience, and attentiveness; (4) waiting time, which was perceived as relatively long during peak hours; and (5) cost and overall value, where services were considered affordable and proportional to the quality received. In conclusion, patients generally reported being satisfied to highly satisfied with the refraction examination services. The strengths of the service lie in examiner competence and staff empathy, while areas for improvement include waiting time management and waiting area comfort. These findings suggest that enhancing responsiveness and facility convenience could further increase client satisfaction at Optic ARO Gapopin.

Abstract

Indonesia is the country with the second highest TB burden in the world, but the treatment success rate is still below the 2020-2024 Strategic Plan target of ≥90%. Incomplete treatment increases the risk of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB), which is difficult and expensive to treat, thereby worsening Indonesia's health system. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the success of pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) treatment at the Provincial Specialized Pulmonary Hospital (UPTD RS Khusus Paru Pemprovsu) during the period 2020–2023. Using a case-control design with a retrospective observational analytical approach and simple random sampling (SRS) technique, this study involved 266 respondents, consisting of 133 cases and 133 controls. Data analysis was performed using univariate, bivariate (chi-square test), and multivariate (binary logistic regression) methods. The results showed that age, gender, employment status, comorbidity status, and treatment regimen type were significantly associated with TB treatment success. The treatment regimen type factor had the most significant influence, with patients in regimen category 1 having an almost seven times greater chance of recovery (OR 6.857, p-value 0.001).

Abstract

Pneumonia remains one of the leading causes of mortality among children worldwide, including in Indonesia. One of the contributing factors to the high incidence of pneumonia in children is the low level of knowledge among parents and the prevalence of smoking habits, especially among fathers within the household. This study aimed to examine the relationship between fathers’ knowledge and smoking habits with the incidence of pneumonia in toddlers in the working area of the Penengahan Health Center, South Lampung Regency, in 2025. This research employed a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population included all fathers of toddlers diagnosed with pneumonia within the Penengahan Health Center service area. A purposive sampling technique was applied to select respondents, and data were collected using a structured questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. The data analysis consisted of univariate and bivariate methods, with the chi-square test used to determine the significance of relationships. The results revealed a significant association between the level of fathers’ knowledge and the incidence of pneumonia in toddlers (p-value < 0.05). Similarly, there was a significant relationship between fathers’ smoking habits and the occurrence of pneumonia in toddlers (p-value < 0.05). In conclusion, this study highlights that both knowledge and smoking behavior of fathers are significantly related to the incidence of pneumonia among toddlers. The findings emphasize the importance of continuous education and health counseling programs directed at parents, particularly fathers, to increase awareness, improve knowledge, and reduce smoking behavior in the household. Strengthening these preventive efforts is expected to contribute to reducing the burden of pneumonia in young children.
