Abstract

Purpose:This study aims to test and obtain empirical evidence of the effect of profitability and investment opportunity set on dividend policy in non-cyclical consumer sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange.Methodology:The population of this study is non-cyclical consumer sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in 2021-2023. The sample in this study was 19 non- cyclical consumer sector companies. The research technique for this sample is purposive sampling. The data analysis used in this study is multiple linear regression analysis.Findings:Profitability has a positive and significant effect on dividend policy, indicating that companies with high earnings tend to be capable and willing to distribute dividends as a signal of good prospects. In addition, the investment opportunity set (IOS) also shows a positive effect, although the initial hypothesis predicted a negative relationship. This suggests that companies with high investment opportunities can still distribute dividends, especially if they have adequate access to external financing.Implication:The results of this study have implications for company management that profitability and investment opportunity set (IOS) must be strategically managed in determining dividend policy. This finding enriches the literature on dividend policy, particularly in the context that IOS does not necessarily act as a barrier to dividend distribution.

Abstract

Purpose:This study aims to examine the controversy surrounding the statement of "Bung Karno Madzhab" made by Panji Gumilang, a leader of Al-Zaitun Islamic Boarding School in Indramayu. Within the teachings of Ahlussunnah wal Jama'ah, there exists a system of following religious schools of thought, commonly known as madzhab, which generally recognizes four madzhab (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i, and Hanbali). Panji Gumilang's statement about "Bung Karno Madzhab" introduces a new concept that contradicts the Nusantara Islamic traditions, which acknowledges these four madzhab.Methodology:This research utilizes a literature review method with a content analysis approach and a literature study approach to understand Panji Gumilang's statements, public responses, and literature on madzhab in Islam and Islam Nusantara as a representation of Ahlussunnah wal Jama'ah.Findings:The findings of this research indicate that the claim of "Bung Karno's Madzhab" is an act of carelessness and deception, as there is no historical evidence suggesting that Bung Karno established his own madzhab within Islam.Implication:This research provides valuable insights into the implications and understanding of religion related to the controversial statement of "Bung Karno's Madzhab." It serves as a call for the Ahlussunnah wal Jama'ah community in Nusantara to deepen their understanding of Islam critically and comprehensively.

Abstract

Purpose:Manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2021–2023 period will be the focus of this study, which seeks to investigate the effect of company value on profitability, debt policy, firm size, firm age, and dividend policy. Firm value is a key measure for investors in assessing company performance and long-term viability. This research is motivated by the volatility in stock prices among manufacturing firms, which raises concerns about the factors that drive firm valuation.Methodology:The study employs an explanatory research design and a quantitative technique. Firm value is measured using the Price to Book Value (PBV) ratio. The independent variables include profitability (ROA), debt policy (DER), firm size (SIZE), firm age (AGE), and dividend policy (DPR). The population consists of 165 manufacturing firms listed on IDX, and 54 firms were selected through purposive sampling, resulting in 162 observations. Using SPSS's multiple linear regression, we analyzed data extracted from yearly financial reports.  To make sure the model was valid, we ran the traditional assumption tests (for normalcy, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, and autocorrelation) before we tested our hypotheses.Findings:The findings indicate that profitability, debt policy, and business size exert a substantial and favorable impact on firm value.  Conversely, company age and dividend policy exhibit no substantial impact.  The modified R² value of 0.801 indicates that 80.1% of the variance in firm value is accounted for by the model.Implication:Managers are encouraged to improve profitability, manage debt prudently, and expand operational scale to enhance investor confidence and firm value. Future study may incorporate variables such as company governance and institutional ownership to yield more comprehensive findings.

Abstract

Purpose:The urgency of this topic lies in the increasing tension between religious norms, individual constitutional rights, and the implementation of positive law, which is often ambiguous or repressive. This study aims to systematically analyze and compare the legal aspects, sanctions, and administrative procedures of conversion from Islam in both countries.Methodology:This study uses a qualitative approach with a normative-comparative method, utilizing secondary data in the form of legal regulations, court decisions, and current academic literature. The analysis is carried out through document studies and content analysis of the national legal framework and religious institutions that play a role.Findings:The results of the study show that Malaysia has a more structured legal system through the Sharia Court in regulating applications to leave Islam, although the procedures tend to be restrictive and accompanied by administrative or criminal sanctions. On the other hand, Indonesia adopts a more flexible administrative approach but is vulnerable to legal uncertainty and social pressure.Implication:The conclusion of this study states that protection of the right to convert requires clear regulations, fair institutions, and inclusive social support. This study suggests the development of future empirical studies to explore the experiences of individual converts and the dynamics of legal implementation at the local level.

The economy is a crucial aspect of every society. The economy of a state is the substructure of the state, and it is on this base that every other aspect of the society is built. Hence, Karl Marx refers to the political, social and religious aspects of the society as the superstructural aspect of the society.Implication:The superstructure can affect the base. However, he is of the view that the influence of the base is predominant. As such it becomes very essential that we look at this economic aspect of the society and how it affects the family which is a very important variable of the society.

The approach used was quantitative, with data collection through online questionnaires and limited interviews, which were analyzed using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method.Findings:The results of the study show that the implementation of PCMM has a significant effect on improving employee competence. Human resource competence has also been proven to have a significant direct influence on the competitive advantage of human resources. In addition, the influence of PCMM on competitive advantage is indirect through the mediation of human resource competencies.Implication:These findings reinforce the Resource-Based View (RBV) theory which emphasizes the importance of internal capabilities as a source of competitive advantage. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of companies to align HR development strategies with maturity models such as PCMM.
