Journal Khafi : Journal of Islamic Studies is a multi-disciplinary publication dedicated to the scholarly study of all aspects of Islam and of the Islamic world. Particular attention is paid to works dealing with history, geography, political science, economics, anthropology, sociology, law, literature, religion, philosophy, international relations, environmental and developmental issues, as well as ethical questions related to scientific research. The Journal seeks to place Islam and the Islamic tradition as its central focus of academic inquiry and to encourage comprehensive consideration of its many facets; to provide a forum for the study of Islam and Muslim societies in their global context; to encourage interdisciplinary studies of the Islamic world that are crossnational and comparative; to promote the diffusion, exchange and discussion of research findings; and to encourage interaction among academics from various traditions of learning. Journal Khafi : Journal Of Islamic Studies Services is a journal managed by Pandu Institute and published in the open journal system (OJS) at March, July and November.

Abstract

Indonesia masih menghadapi tantangan serius dalam pengentasan kemiskinan dan ketimpangan ekonomi, khususnya di daerah pedesaan. Desa Braja Caka di Kabupaten Lampung Timur menjadi contoh nyata di mana masyarakatnya bergantung pada sektor pertanian dan usaha mikro dengan pendapatan yang fluktuatif. Sebagai solusi, Yayasan Baitul Mal BRILiaN (YBM BRILiaN) meluncurkan program Mustahik Income Generating Program (MIGP), sebuah inisiatif pemberdayaan ekonomi berbasis syariah yang menggabungkan bantuan modal, pelatihan keterampilan, dan pendampingan berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode field research, melibatkan wawancara terhadap 10 penerima manfaat serta analisis dokumen pendukung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa program MIGP berhasil meningkatkan pendapatan rata-rata mustahik sebesar Rp400.000 per bulan dan menciptakan ekosistem usaha yang kolaboratif melalui sistem bagi hasil dan pemasaran kolektif. Sebanyak 90% penerima menyatakan program ini lebih efektif daripada bantuan konsumtif, meskipun 10% masih mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami mekanismenya. Faktor keberhasilan utama meliputi keterbukaan terhadap inovasi, kedisiplinan pembukuan, dan pemanfaatan jaringan sosial. Tantangan yang dihadapi antara lain resistensi terhadap perubahan (15% penerima) dan variasi tingkat adopsi program. Rekomendasi strategis mencakup penyempurnaan modul pelatihan berbasis kebutuhan spesifik, penguatan kelembagaan kelompok usaha, dan integrasi dengan program pemerintah seperti KURuntuk memperluas dampak pemberdayaan

Abstract

Stunting is a serious health issue in Indonesia that affects the quality of human resources. This study aims to examine stunting prevention from the perspective of Islamic Religious Education based on verses from the Qur'an and Hadith. The method used is a literature review with primary data from the Qur'an and Hadith, and secondary data from scientific literature. The findings show that the principles of stunting prevention are outlined in Islamic teachings, such as the recommendation for exclusive breastfeeding (Qur’an, Al-Baqarah: 233; Hadith Abu Dawud), the importance of cleanliness and sanitation (Qur’an, Al-Anfal: 11; Hadith Tirmidhi), the encouragement to work hard to meet family needs (Qur’an, At-Tawbah: 105; Hadith Bukhari), and the consumption of lawful and wholesome food (Qur’an, Al-Baqarah: 168; Hadith Thabrani). This study shows that Islamic teachings offer a holistic approach to health and well-being and can serve as a foundation for religion-based stunting education.

Abstract

This research is aimed to study the strategic role of Zakat Institution in raising the effectiveness and accountability of Zakat, Infaq, and Charity management (ZIS). Using qualitative descriptive approach and literature study from various scientific sources, this study found that ZIS optimizing management needed management system base on the factual data, utilization of information technology, transparency and accountability in the report. The recommended strategies are strengthening basic data of Muzakki anc Mustahik, utilization zakat in the form productive program like micro business development, active involvement of the society through education and training program. The challenge involved the system information of zakat has not integrated yet, the quality and validity data which is very low, and lacked of society trust to the institution of zakat management.

Abstract

Interfaith marriage remains a debated issue in Indonesia due to differences between religious rules and state law. In Islam, marriage is considered an act of worship and must follow strict rules, including marrying within the same faith. According to Indonesia’s 1974 Marriage Law, a marriage is only valid if it follows the religious laws of both parties. However, interfaith marriages still occur and are increasing. This study explores university students’ views on this topic. Using a qualitative case study approach, 20 students from different backgrounds were surveyed. Results show that 65% believe interfaith marriages can be legally registered, and most have a tolerant attitude. This highlights a gap between the law and social reality. The study suggests the need for updated laws that balance respect for religious values and social diversity, and calls for open dialogue between the government, religious leaders, and society to create fairer and more inclusive regulations.

Abstract

The spirit of Al-Quran is the spirit of progress. This includes education. Al-Quran also needs to be understood by the spirit of its time based on universal basic values and principles. Al-Quran can be understood if there is an effort to think and study its contents. Al-Quran, as an inclusive text or living text, opens a dialogue with the recipient of the message. We are encouraged to carry out serious, productive reading in an effort to reveal the meaning and significance of educational verses in order to develop Tafsir Tarbawi, both theoretical and practical, on education as a treasure and solution to current situations.

Abstract

This study discusses several polemics surrounding the veil (niqab) that have recently emerged in society, namely the stigma of terrorism directed at veiled women, the perception that they are left behind in competition, the definition of syar’i clothing, and the niqab as a symbol of religiosity. In this regard, the author employs a phenomenological approach to understand the phenomenon occurring in society and analyzes the views of scholars found in the book al-Niqab ‘Adah wa Laisa ‘Ibadah, which serves as the primary data of this research, as a response to the phenomenon.The findings of this study are: first, veiled women should refrain from wearing the niqab in societies where it is not part of the local custom, particularly in communities traumatized by acts of terrorism; second, wearing the niqab can obscure a woman’s identity (syakhshiyyah al-mar’ah) in public spaces, causing them to fall behind in competition; third, the definition of syar’i clothing does not require the niqab to cover the face, since the face is not considered aurat, and the niqab has no relation to a woman’s religiosity (tadayyun al-mar’ah) because it is merely a cultural practice rather than a form of worship.

Abstract

This paper examines the contextualization of kitab kuning (classical Islamic texts) and the transformative research tradition that has evolved within Indonesian pesantren (Islamic boarding schools). The long historical journey of pesantren in the Indonesian archipelago has produced profound social transformations and significantly influenced the religious life of Muslim communities. According to Bruinessen, pesantren have successfully established a great tradition in Islamic education rooted in the study of classical texts, commonly referred to as kitab kuning. As institutions that nurture both intellectual heritage and research culture, pesantren hold substantial potential in addressing contemporary and future societal challenges. The research paradigm within pesantren possesses unique characteristics that distinguish it from conventional research approaches. These distinctions arise from divergent ontological, epistemological, methodological, and axiological constructions, which are deeply grounded in the social history, core values, and intellectual traditions of the pesantren itself.
