Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the weaknesses faced by elementary school students during the learning process, particularly in reading and writing skills. Basic literacy problems remain a major challenge for some students, especially at the lower and middle grade levels. This study was conducted with third-grade students at SDN 145 Pekanbaru using a qualitative descriptive approach through observation and analysis of students’ literacy abilities. The results show that the reading and writing skills of third-grade students at SDN 145 Pekanbaru vary. Most students are able to read fluently; however, they still experience difficulties in writing, such as spelling errors, sentence structure issues, and poor handwriting neatness. On the other hand, there are also students who still have difficulty reading and often need to spell out words letter by letter. In addition, students’ interest in reading and writing activities is relatively low, which affects the suboptimal development of their literacy skills. This low level of interest is influenced by a lack of motivation, undeveloped reading habits, and minimal learning assistance. Therefore, efforts that teachers can undertake to improve students’ interest and abilities in reading and writing at SDN 145 Pekanbaru include organizing additional classes, providing intensive guidance, and applying a personal approach to motivate students and build their confidence in improving basic literacy skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze semantic language errors found in the short story "Gie" by Egha De Latoya. The analysis focuses on the forms of meaning errors that include ambiguity, inappropriate word usage, redundancy, and unclear context that appear in the short story text. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a documentation study as a data collection technique. Data analysis was carried out through several stages, namely data identification, classification of types of semantic errors, and description of errors based on applicable Indonesian language rules. The results of the study indicate that in the short story "Gie" there are still a number of semantic errors. These errors include ambiguity of meaning due to the use of inappropriate metaphorical diction, word choice that creates double meanings, and redundancy that causes waste of meaning and reduces the effectiveness of sentences. In addition, unclear context was also found that can affect the reader's understanding of the story's content. Factors causing these semantic errors include a lack of understanding of the context of meaning and the influence of the use of everyday language in writing short stories. The findings of this study are expected to be evaluation materials for short story writers so that the use of language is more precise, clear, and effective in conveying messages to readers.

Abstract

Loneliness is a subjective psychological phenomenon characterized by feelings of alienation, emptiness, and dissatisfaction with the quality of an individual's social relationships. This phenomenon is experienced not only by individuals who live alone or experience social isolation, but also by individuals within a family environment, including women who play the role of mother. The novel Bila Esok Ibu Tiada (When Tomorrow Mother is Gone) presents an in-depth representation of the inner life of a mother who experiences loneliness in the midst of a structurally intact family relationship. This study aims to examine the representation of loneliness in the mother character in the novel Bila Esok Ibu Tiada through a literary psychology approach. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with literary text analysis techniques. The results show that the mother's loneliness is represented through emotional alienation within the family, lack of support from her partner and children, weak interpersonal communication, inner conflict due to the sacrifice of her maternal role, and social pressure attached to the construction of the mother's role. Loneliness in this novel not only serves as a depiction of individual psychological conditions, but also as a social critique of family structures and cultures that tend to normalize mothers' emotional sacrifices without providing space for the fulfillment of their psychological needs.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the manifestation of prophetic values in the novel Hafalan Shalat Delisa by Tere Liye, which is set against the backdrop of the 2004 Aceh Tsunami tragedy. Using Kuntowijoyo's Prophetic Literature approach, this research dissects how literary texts respond to disaster situations not only as physical tragedies but as transcendental moments. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with hermeneutic analysis techniques. The results showed that this novel contains three pillars of prophetic ethics: (1) Humanization is reflected in social solidarity and the affection of the father figure amidst destruction; (2) Liberation is manifested in the main character's struggle to free herself from the shackles of psychological trauma and physical limitations post-amputation; and (3) Transcendence is present as the core narrative through the transformation of the main character's worship motivation—from material orientation towards total sincerity to God. This novel confirms that prophetic literature can serve as a medium for inner healing as well as effective character education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Language of Conflict in the Album of Celebration of Broken Hearts Act 1 by For Revenge. The methods used in this study are descriptive methods and qualitative forms of research. The source of data in this study is in the form of a description related to the text of  the songs For Revenge in the Broken Heart Celebration Album Round 1. The data collection techniques in this study are documentary study techniques and recording techniques. The results of the research conducted on the Analysis of Opposing Language Styles in the Album of Celebration of Broken Hearts Round 1 of For Revenge There were 94 data consisting of hyperbole as many as 16 data, lithoses as many as 4 data, irony 1 data, oxymoron 10 data, satire 3 data, paradox 8 data, climax 14 data, anticlimax 7 data, sarcasm 1 data,  cynicism 7 data, silepsis and zeugma 5 data, apostrophe 8 data, hypostasis 5 data, and antiphrasis 3 data. This research can be implemented in the form of lesson plans in class X of Senior High School (SMA), even semester KD 3.17 Analyzing the elements that build poetry in the form of diction, imagery, diction, concrete words, language style, rhyme/rhythm, typography, theme/meaning (sense); in poetry) from the songs For Revenge in the Broken Heart Celebration Album Round 1.

Abstract

The Independent Curriculum demands a paradigm shift in learning from teacher-centered to student-centered learning through the implementation of innovative learning models. However, the implementation of the Independent Curriculum at SMP Negeri 2 Kanatang still faces various obstacles, especially the limited understanding of teachers in implementing innovative learning models. Therefore, this community service activity aims to improve teachers' understanding and skills in implementing innovative learning models in accordance with the principles of the Independent Curriculum. The method of implementing activities uses a combination of lectures, discussions, and direct practice which begins with observation and interviews, followed by planning, implementation of socialization, and evaluation. The subject of the activity was 20 teachers of SMP Negeri 2 Kanatang from various subjects. The results of the activity showed that teachers responded very positively to the implementation of innovative learning models. The results of the questionnaire showed a percentage of 100% in the aspect of learning planning, impact on students, as well as satisfaction and expectations, while in the aspect of learning implementation, 67% agreed and 33% were neutral. These findings show that this activity is effective in improving teacher understanding, although further assistance is still needed to optimize implementation in the classroom. Overall, this activity is considered successful and feasible to continue as an effort to improve the quality of learning and the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in a sustainable manner at SMP Negeri 2 Kanatang.

Abstract

The implementation of the Independent Curriculum requires teachers to have an adaptive, contextual, and student-centered learning strategy. This study aims to describe teachers' strategies in planning, implementing, and evaluating learning in the implementation of the Independent Curriculum at UPT SD Negeri 009 Sialang Kubang. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that teachers have prepared learning plans through teaching modules that are tailored to the characteristics of students, using various learning methods and media, and implementing student-centered learning. In addition, teachers also carry out diverse assessments, provide constructive feedback, and follow up on learning. These strategies contribute to the creation of an active, conducive learning atmosphere, and support academic development and student character. Teachers play the role of facilitators who encourage students' independence, creativity, and critical thinking skills. The findings of this study show that teacher readiness and school support are important factors in optimizing the implementation of the Independent Curriculum. Therefore, continuous training is needed for teachers so that the learning strategies implemented are more effective and sustainable

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of a conducive school environment in supporting students’ character development at SDN 001 Petai. Elementary schools play a strategic role not only in knowledge transmission but also in shaping students’ character through daily school practices. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews with the principal and classroom teachers, supported by observations of learning activities and school programs. The findings indicate that SDN 001 Petai has successfully created a conducive school environment characterized by a clean and well- organized physical setting, a positive and inclusive social climate, and active learning processes. Character development is reinforced through the consistent application of democratic values, discipline, and tolerance, as well as through the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5). Teachers and the principal play a key role as role models in internalizing character values through everyday interactions and school activities. The conducive environment enables students to practice Pancasila values such as cooperation, responsibility, independence, and respect in real contexts. Overall, the results confirm that a well-managed school environment, supported by exemplary leadership and integrated character education programs, contributes significantly to students’ character formation. These findings highlight the importance of holistic school management in strengthening character education at the elementary school level.
