Abstract

Semarang, the capital of Central Java, is a culturally diverse city that is rich in well-preserved cultural heritage. One of its popular historical cultural destinations is Kota Lama Semarang / Semarang Old City, an area recognized as a national cultural heritage site. However, the tourism promotion of Kota Lama Semarang still relies on conventional media like flyers, brochures, posters, and social media, which lack targeted content for urban teenagers. To address this, Motion Comic media is proposed as a new approach to promote the captivating tourism of Kota Lama Semarang, focusing on its rich historical value. Motion Comic combines visual, movement and sound to engage teenagers and help them appreciate the history and culture of Kota Lama Semarang. By utilizing this media, it is hoped that teenagers will develop an interest in visiting Kota Lama Semarang while also preserving and appreciating the history of Kota Lama Semarang

Abstract

This design is based on public needs, targeting young people who tend to be swing voters in elections. So it requires a media approach that is relevant and effective. Adjusting the habits of Gen Z and the elections day coinciding with Valentine''s Day are the main strategies to achieve the goal of making the 2024 elections a success.This large design framework uses the Design Thinking method by Tim Brown (2008) which overlaps with the Design Method stage (Karjaluoto, 2014). Starting from the observation stage and applying the empathy aspect in it so that you can find keywords for the problem and study the target. Then the planning stage, prototype to trial.The result of this design is a motion graphic video with the theme of five love language for Indonesia, containing 5 love actions that can be carried out by young voters in the 2024 election. It is also accompanied by digital poster as supporting media. Both media were distributed via social media platforms, such as TikTok.The contribution of young voters is very important, have great voting power that can determine the direction of the country''s development so it must be directed at the right distribution. Designing digital-based creative content to target young social media users, hoping that it can educate and increase awareness about the importance of exercising the right to vote for young voters.

Abstract

Merchandise design has evolved into more than just functional clothing, but also as an identity element and a tool to enhance product branding. The focus of this research is on the visual merchandise design process for Untirta Communication Sciences, a state campus in Banten. Through a visual approach and graphic design, this design is made attractive and in accordance with the brand character. It is important to create a balance between innovation, brand identity, creativity and understanding trends in the branding process. This research uses a design method with several stages. In this research, it is explained that typography, visual unity, and adaptation to the target audience are key aspects in every design, especially for merchandise.

Abstract

Social media is a powerful promotional tool due to its rapid and extensive reach. Instagram, in particular, has become a popular platform for promotional activities. Mellint Pastries, an online cake business, utilizes Instagram for promotion but has not fully optimized its marketing strategy on the platform. This research aims to enhance Mellint Pastries' Instagram presence to reach a broader audience and boost sales. The study focuses on designing and visualizing Instagram content as an alternative promotional medium for Mellint Pastries. Using qualitative research methods, including interviews, observations, and literature review, the research aims to describe the design process and objectives for Mellint Pastries' Instagram content.

Abstract

Illustrated books have continued to develop by bringing all the changes and developments from year to year, so the trend of illustration books will continue to change. In this article, researchers examine the trend of children's illustrated books in Indonesia with their characteristics published from 2015 to 2021. The method used in this research is the Systematic Literature Review (SLR). The SLR method was used to identify, review, evaluate, and interpret all the latest available research on how children's illustrated book styles were developed. Of the 28 development research articles analyzed, it was found that the font characters for most illustration books use fonts that are easy to read, simple, not stiff, and playful, and each font adjusts its use. The majority of designs use bright, contrasting and striking colours. As many as 21% of children's illustration books use pastel colours. The themes used in the children's illustration books are mostly related to education for children. Most characters in illustration books use cartoon images in the form of human figures. In addition, there are also complementary illustrations to adjust the contents of the existing book. Most of the layouts for children's illustration books use the Picture Window Layout with additional layout emphasis on several sections.

Abstract

A healthy and harmonious relationship is essential for creating warmth within a family. However, the quality of interaction between parents and children is often overlooked, which can significantly impact a child's mental health and habits. A lack of effective communication and understanding of appropriate parenting approaches can affect this relationship, especially in the child’s emotional development. This documentary aims to raise public awareness, particularly among parents, about the effects of less harmonious parent-child relationships on the mental health of teenagers. The documentary seeks to rekindle the feelings of love, safety, and warmth experienced in childhood for teens facing these challenges. Presented from three perspectives—children, parents, and psychologists—this documentary provides neutral, balanced, and comprehensive information. As an effective medium, it is expected to bring this important issue to the public, especially in educating parents and teenagers about the impact of toxic parenting on children's mental health.

Abstract

This study examines the design trends of batik motifs in Indonesia over the past five years, highlighting how the evolution of these designs has been influenced by technological factors, changing consumer preferences, and cultural preservation efforts. By analyzing nature-inspired designs, the use of digital technology in the creative process, and the trend towards more minimalist and contemporary designs, the study reveals how batik remains relevant and evolves as a dynamic form of cultural expression. The integration of traditional elements and modern innovations creates batik motifs that are not only aesthetically appealing but also rich in cultural and historical value. The results show that batik is an important example of the adaptation of tradition in a modern context, demonstrating a unique ability to maintain its cultural essence while remaining responsive to changing times.

Abstract

In this digital era, technology is very helpful in developing several sectors in the economy such as retail (e-commerce), transportation (automated vehicles), education (online courses), health (electronic records), and social interaction (social networks/social media). Apart from helping several sectors in the economy, in this practical digital era it also really helps marketers in promoting their products through social media, for example through Instagram social media. Using Instagram social media is of course very profitable for marketers because Instagram social media doesn't require spending money. to create an Instagram account, and by utilizing social media Instagram can become a gathering place for the target market because Instagram social media has high users and popularity. With the Instagram promotion mix to attract consumer interest in buying the product. Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) that use Instagram as a promotional medium is a new form of developing and utilizing Instagram in the MSME product sales sector. Instagram is used as a promotional medium because it is more profitable than several other media. One of the MSMEs that uses and utilizes Instagram as a promotional medium is Aerostreet MSMEs located in Dusun 1 Bentangan, Wonosari District, Klaten Regency, Central Java. The purpose of this analysis is to describe the use and utilization of Instagram by Aerostreet MSMEs. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The object of this research is Aerostreet MSMEs which have used Instagram as a promotional media.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the value of devotion to parents through educational animation media, focusing on the inspiring story of Uwais al-Qarni. Uwais al-Qarni is known in Islamic history as a figure who showed extraordinary dedication to his mother. In an effort to revive these values, we developed an animation that aims to educate and inspire the audience, especially the younger generation. The animation creation process includes in-depth literature research, scenario and storyboard development, character design, and animation production and editing. The result is an animated work that is not only entertaining but also conveys a strong moral message about the importance of devotion to parents. Initial trials showed that this animation was effective in increasing audience awareness and understanding of these values. This study makes a significant contribution to the field of character education through digital media and demonstrates the potential of animation as an effective and engaging educational tool.

Abstract

This study analyzes the visual elements of the "Konser Urup" 2024 poster featuring Kunto Aji and examines its effectiveness as a promotional medium. The research aims to identify key visual components that attract audience attention and influence their decision to attend the concert. The study employs a qualitative approach, utilizing content analysis to dissect the poster's design elements, including color, typography, imagery, and layout. Findings indicate that the use of vibrant colors, bold typography, and high-quality images of the artist significantly enhance the poster's appeal. Additionally, the strategic placement of information such as date, venue, and ticket details ensures clarity and accessibility for the audience. The study also explores the correlation between these visual elements and audience engagement on social media platforms. Results reveal a positive correlation, with visually appealing posters receiving higher engagement rates, including likes, shares, and comments. This underscores the importance of thoughtful visual design in promotional materials to maximize audience reach and event attendance. The research concludes that incorporating effective visual elements in concert posters is crucial for successful event promotion, offering valuable insights for marketers and designers in the entertainment industry.
