Abstract

Exposure to digital media content can affect the growth process of elementary school children in terms of emotions, behavior and social aspects. This study aims to discuss the addictive behavior of elementary school children in the city of Bandung, as well as to analyze the causal factors and symptoms that arise. The method used is qualitative with a literature study approach and data collection through semi-structured interviews with teachers and distributing questionnaires to 212 parents or guardians of elementary school students. The study shows that children are often exposed to content in the form of games and videos/streaming with range of 3 to 6 hours. These impacts include symptoms of stress, aggressiveness, decreased self-control, imitating negative styles and statements, social withdrawal, and sleep disorders that affect decreased focus on learning. Lack of parental supervision is a trigger for this tendency. The results of the study provide insight for parents regarding the impact of exposure to the importance of regulating the duration and selection of content that is appropriate for child development. In addition, a digital literacy program is recommended that involves children, parents, and educational institutions to encourage the use of digital media wisely and optimally.

Abstract

Gestalt theory is a perceptual psychology approach that explains how humans tend to perceive visual stimuli as unified wholes rather than as separate elements. This perspective is particularly relevant in graphic design, where the organization of visual elements influences how messages are interpreted by the audience. The application of Gestalt principles such as proximity, closure, and figure–ground helps designers create clear and coherent visual communication, while improper application may lead to visual ambiguity and misinterpretation. Using a descriptive-analytical method supported by literature review and a case study of the Kudawara Pharmacy logo, this paper shows that weak implementation of Gestalt principles can cause perceptual errors that affect message clarity and brand image. Therefore, effective graphic design is not only a matter of visual aesthetics, but also of understanding how human perception works in interpreting visual elements.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas penyampaian pesan emosional dalam video lirik lagu “Melukis Memar di Langit Ibu” karya band Rekah yang mengangkat isu perjuangan perempuan, kekerasan berbasis gender, serta pengalaman luka batin yang sering kali tersembunyi dan terinternalisasi. Latar belakang penelitian ini berangkat dari peran desain komunikasi visual dalam menyampaikan pesan sosial yang sensitif melalui medium audiovisual, khususnya video lirik sebagai media naratif-emosional. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan semiotika multimodal untuk menganalisis relasi antara teks lirik, tipografi, visual, warna, gerak, dan tata letak dalam membentuk pengalaman emosional penonton. Data diperoleh melalui observasi terhadap video lirik, studi literatur, serta analisis visual berdasarkan kerangka Kress dan van Leeuwen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pesan emosional dibangun melalui representasi trauma, ketertekanan psikologis, dan ketahanan perempuan yang dimaknai lewat metafora visual “memar” dan “langit ibu” sebagai ruang sosial yang ambigu. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa video lirik berpotensi menjadi medium validasi emosional dan refleksi sosial dalam praktik desain komunikasi visual.

Abstract

Almost everyone has a self-portrait. This design aims to provide an ideal formulation for facial lighting using window lighting techniques. The method used is to place the model at the edge of a window and direct the center of the model's face towards the light source from the window. Determining the distance of the face from the edge of the window and adjusting the width of the window shutter to twice the width of the head to control the right light to illuminate the face. This can create a long and soft tonal gradation of black-and-white photos and can inform the facial shape well. The implementation of this design was applied to three elderly models and then analyzed the results. This design obtained the ideal lighting technique for portrait photos with good detail and optimal light and dark, so that the face appears to emerge from the darkness. The dominant dark nuances around the face make the attention focused only on the model's face.

Abstract

The development of documentary film studies shows an increasing attention toward aesthetic and experimental approaches, particularly the poetic documentary. This form emphasizes visual experience, rhythm, and symbolic association in constructing meaning, differing from conventional documentaries that are linear and argumentative. Previous studies have identified its main characteristics, including narrative fragmentation, visual metaphors, and a minimal use of verbal narration, thereby allowing for a subjective and reflective representation of reality. However, related research remains scattered across diverse theoretical and methodological approaches, leaving a comprehensive synthesis yet to be established. This study aims to conduct a systematic literature review using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method with the PRISMA framework. Data were obtained from the Scopus database for the 2024–2026 period. The results indicate that poetic documentaries can be classified into those that meet the criteria, those that explicitly meet the criteria, and those that do not meet the criteria. The findings of this study are expected to map trends, identify dominant approaches, and uncover gaps in poetic documentary studies, while simultaneously providing a foundation for the development of future research and creative practices in poetic documentary filmmaking.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas perancangan typeface “Nago Besaung” sebagai bentuk adaptasi motif kain songket Lepus Penuh khas Palembang. Motif ini dipilih karena nilai filosofis dan historisnya yang tinggi, namun saat ini jarang ditemukan di masyarakat. Penulis menerapkan metode Design Thinking yang terdiri dari lima tahapan: Emphatize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, Test. Dalam perancangan, element motif naga dan bunga pada kain songket diolah menjadi bentuk huruf digital melalui stilisasi dan penggunaan software desain. Typeface yang dihasilkan diharapkan dapat memperkenalkan dan melestarikan warisan budaya Palembang secara modern. Proses digitalisasi dilakukan dengan menggunakan Adobe Illustrator dan Fontlab 8 untuk menghasilkan font dalam format Open Type Font (OTF). Hasil akhir menunjukkan bahwa typeface ini dapat digunakan sebagai media visual yang efektif dalam pelestarian budaya lokal.
