Abstract

ABSTRACTTumpa Mountain area in North Sulawesi province was originally aprotected forest that isseton 28 April 1932 wide 215 ha, then based SK. 434/Menhut-II/2013 On June 17, 2013 the status of the switch into Forest Park (TAHURA) with extensive 296 ha. The purpose of this research to study the spread of Ficus groups in forest areas of Mount Tumpa, North Sulawesi. The method used in this research is the exploration method to divide the study area based on the direction of the wind, namely; aspecteast, west, north, and south. In every aspect of the slope was observed distribution of the types of groups Ficus. The data is then compiled and tabulated gotten based aspects of the slope and level/phasegrows. The results of the research that has been done there is 230 individuals Ficus spp. Spread in 9 types. Based on Ficus spp aspect, is the most dominant aspect of the West (85) followed aspect, further deployment based on the level of growth is the level of the tree(112) followed by the pole (53) individuals

Abstract

Abstract This study aimed to identify the state of physical and chemical properties of the soil on the Cloves plant in the village of Tincep and Kolongan Atas Subdistrict Sonder.  This study conducted using a survey method with their implementation as follows: the soil samples were taken at two locations is overgrown Cloves plant with good growth rates and less well, each location was taken four soil samples, two soil samples were taken at Cloves plant with good growth rates and another two soil samples were taken on Cloves plant with less well growth rates.  Soil sampling conducted by digging a minipit with size 50 x 50 x 50 cm were taken at the canopy boundary of Cloves plant and the soil samples were taken top layer (horizon A) and lower layers (horizon B) which is based on the effect of organic matter on the soil layer (A and B).  The parameters observed was physical properties of soil that is, texture, structure, and consistency; and chemical properties of soil that is, nitrogen total, phosphor available, potassium available, c-organic, and pH.  The results showed clove plants with good growth and less well the specified visually not affected by the state of chemical of soil, but is influenced by physical properties of soil, because on the Cloves plant which less well grow on the horizon B was found weathered material.  Keywords: Cloves, Physical and Chemical properties of soil, Growth, Weathered material

Abstract

ABSTRACT  The purpose of this research is to estimate the amount of carbon stored in the biomass of mangrove forests in Blongko Village, District Sinonsayang, South Minahasa regency. The study was conducted over two months, from July to September 2014. This research method used 15 sampling plots 20x20 m2 each. Data Analysis used allometric equations to obtain the biomass of each species. Carbon store was assumed to be 0.47 factors of total biomass. The result showed that total carbon store and biomass were 17914.59 Mg and 8419.86 Mg with an average of 409.5 Mg ha-1  and 192.5 Mg ha-1 respectively.  Keywords: Carbon store, Biomass, Mangrove, Blongko Village, South Minahasa Regency.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to evaluate tumpara’s population and compare its density in each production forest and protected forests at Mount Tamata Siau Island. This study was conducted for one month in March 2014 at 7 plots in each forest type. Tumpara’s density and frequency was performed using sampling method and analized using descriptive statistics. Sightings density and frequency between production forests and protected forests then compared. Area description uses Importance Value Index (IVI). Correlation and simple regression analysis is used to see the relationship between vegetation and tumpara’s sightings frequency. Total basal area of the plots and shrub cover is used to evaluate tumpara’s sightings frequency. The results showed that the protected forest has tumpara density of 3.29 individuals/ha and 0.86 groups/ha while production forests has tumpara density of 2.14 individuals/ha and 0.47 groups/ha. Discovery frequency of tumpara in protected forest is 1.64 (0.02 to 3.26) times/day and the production forest has discovery frequency of 1.07 (0.21 to 1.93) times/day. There is a relation between vegetation cover and tumpara’s presence. The more area shrub covers, the higher tumpara population will be. Tumpara is more commonly seen in habitats dominated by Pandanus sp. Tumpara couldn’t be found in Myrstica fragrans dominated habitats. Keywords: Density, Sightings Frequency, Habitat, Tarsius tumpara, Siau Island
