Abstract

A study on male social system of Sulawesi crested black macaque {Macaca nigra) has been conducted at Tangkoko-Batuangus Nature Reserve, North Sulawesi from January to October 2008.The aim of this research was to evaluate the male social system based on the social interaction among the males.The material was a habituated group called Rambo II that had 7 adult males and 19 adult females at early stage observation. Dominance hierarchy was determined with ad libitum sampling based on their results in agonistic interaction at 3 early-days of every month. The dynamics of the dominance hierarchy was traced during 10 months. Determination of dominance hierarchy linearity used Landaus index of linearity. Data of approaches among the males and their copulation frequency was collected with focal animal sampling.Approaches interaction data were analyzed for the direction of their approaches and the scoring of approachee responds that consisted of positive, neutral, negative, and without approaching.Results showed that during 10 months, there were 3 adult males that emigrated from Rambo II and one adult male that immigrated into the group.All dominance hierarchy had linearity indexes 1.0 that meant the hierarchies are perfect linear or linear and transitive.The a-male had highest frequency of copulation both with estrous and non-estrous females.For mid-rank male, on the other hand, the frequency was not always related to their rank. There was a tendency that dominate males approached subordinate males that was proved with their up/down index. Negative respond showed by subordinate males due to approaching by dominate ones was higher than the opposite. This result indicated that dominance played role in spatial controlling and freedom of interaction, for subordinate individual, the dominate presentating likely intimidated them. From those results, it can be concluded that the social system of male Sulawesi crested black macaque in not egalitarian and more despotic, different with the social system of the female that is considered as egalitarian.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Birds are one of the forest's ecosystem components which able to help in the forest's natural regeneration, with one of the bird's natural habitats being urban forests. This study aims to analyze the diversity and describe the bird's species in the Urban Forest habitat of the Kuwil Village of North Minahasa Regency. Data collection used survey methods with plots in form of 2 rectangular line transects with a length of 2000 m each and 20 m wide. Data collection is done 5 times. Based on the research, there were 10 species of birds with a diversity index of bird species as 1.98 which was in the medium category. The species found were Halcyon chloris, Corvus enca, Pycnonotus aurigaster, Oriolus chinensis, Gerygone sulphurea, Galliralus torquatus, Phaenicophaeus calyorhynchus, Eudynamys melanorhyncus, Geopelia striata, and Ducula aenea. Key words: Species Diversity, Urban Forest, Bird ABSTRAK Burung merupakan salah satu komponen ekosistem hutan dengan fungsinya membantu regenerasi  hutan secara alami, dengan salah satu habitat alami burung adalah hutan kota. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis keanekaragaman jenis burung pada habitat Hutan Kota Desa Kuwil Kabupaten Minahasa Utara dan mendeskripsikan jenis-jenisnya. Pengambilan data menggunakan metode survei dengan plot berbentuk 2 garis transek (line transect) persegi panjang dengan panjang masing-masing transek 2000 m dan lebar 20 m. Pengambilan data dilakukan sebanyak 5 kali. Berdasarkan penelitian didapatkan 10 jenis burung dengan nilai indeks keanekaragaman jenis burung sebesar 1,98 yang termasuk kategori sedang. Adapun jenis-jenis burung yang ditemukan adalah sebagai berikut  Halcyon chloris, Corvus enca, Pycnonotus aurigaster, Oriolus chinensis, Gerygone sulphurea, Galliralus torquatus, Phaenicophaeus calyorhynchus, Eudynamys melanorhyncus, Geopelia striata dan Ducula aenea. Kata kunci: Keanekaragaman Jenis, Hutan Kota, Burung

Abstract

ABSTRACT The Kuwil Village Forest City holds an endemic species of Tangkasi (Tarsier spectrum). The condition of forests that characterizes primary forests makes the stems remain in the forest area still status is urban forest. The area of the City Forest of the Kuwil Village is ± 43 ha with a total sampling area of 0.0275 km2 or 2.75 ha with the number of plots installed putting together 14 plots that form a circle with a radius of 25 m. Data was collected in the morning at 05.00-06.15 WITA. Based on the research results obtained a total of duet calls at the location obtained 18 duet calls with a total of 2627 tails / km2 or 26.27 tails / ha which indicates a high population density in urban forest areas. Kuwil City Forest has a variety of potential wildlife that can be processed for conservation of its sustainability. Wildlife conservation can be useful in the future so that it can be used as the development of wildlife utilization both for recreation, natural attractions, and research development. Key words: Kuwil Village, Tangkasi, Kuwil Urban Forest, Density of Tarsier, Conservation. ABSTRAKHutan Kota Desa Kuwil menyimpan satwa endemik tangkasi (Tarsius spectrum). Hutan Kota Kuwil mempunyai beragam potensi satwaliar yang dapat diolah untuk memelihara kelestariannya. Konservasi satwaliar dapat berguna kedepannya agar dapat digunakan sebagai pengembangan pendayagunaan satwaliar baik untuk rekreasi, objek wisata alam, dan pengembangan penelitian. Kata kunci: Desa Kuwil, Tangkasi, Hutan Kota kuwil, Densitas Tangkasi, konservasi.

Abstract

This research has been conducted over the past 12 years and was aimed to gain understanding on the complex interactions involved in the maintaining and restoring biodiversity that might influence the flow of ecosystem services. The method used in this study is annual measurement and observation conducted through surveys into similar sites conducted in every November to December since 2004.  Stand structures consist of indicators of tree density, tree structure, crown coverage, and species composition.  Function and sustainability are describes through biodiversity (Shannon index), natural colonization (abundance), wildlife density and status (species richness), nutrient retention (litter fall and decomposition), soil and water quality (erosion and sedimentation, soil physics, water debit and clarity).  This study is still going on addressing an important question, that is “How long does it take for degraded forest land to achieve certain biodiversity or functional outcomes?” In relation to that, some indicators have begun to show certain patterns and tendencies.

Abstract

ABSTRACTRed jungle fowl is one of the important animals that live in the forest and has various roles, such as ecological, economic and aesthetic functions. This study aims to analyze the population of red jungle fowl in forest habitat I and forest habitat II in the forest of Mount Klabat Utara Minahasa and analyze the activity of red forest chicken in forest habitat I and forest habitat II in the forests of Mount Klabat North Minahasa. This study uses a survey method with line transect sampling. Transects were determined as many as four, namely two transects in forest habitat type I and two transects in forest habitat type II. Each transect length is 2000 m and the left width is 20 m and the right width is 20 m, each transect is observed for 10 times. Density found in transect I was 25.63 animals / km² and transect II was 10.63 animals / km², in addition it was found that the dominant activity in both types of forest was forest I with feeding activity 19 (0.76%) moved 4 (0.16%), rest 2 (0.20%), in forest II looking for food, 5 (0.50%), move 3 (0.30%), rest 2 (0.20%).Keywords: Red jungle fowl (Gallus gallus), density, activity, Mount Klabat, North Minahasa, North Sulawesi ABSTRAKAyam hutan merah merupakan salah satu satwa penting yang hidup di hutan dan mempunyai berbagai peran, seperti fungsi ekologi, ekonomi dan estetika. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis populasi ayam hutan merah pada habitat hutan I dan habitat hutan II di hutan Gunung Klabat Minahasa Utara dan menganalisis aktivitas ayam hutan merah pada habitat hutan I dan habitat hutan II di hutan Gunung Klabat Minahasa Utara. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei dengan sampling berbentuk transek garis. Transek ditentukan sebanyak empat, yaitu dua transek pada tipe habitat hutan I dan dua transek pada tipe habitat hutan II. Panjang transek masing-masing ialah 2000 m dan lebar kiri 20 m dan lebar kanan 20m, setiap transek dilakukan pengamatan selama 10 kali. Densitas yang di temukan pada transek I yaitu 25.63 ekor/km² dan di transek II 10.63 ekor/km², selain itu di temukan aktivitas yang dominan pada kedua tipe hutan yaitu hutan I dengan aktivitas makan 19 (0.76%) berpindah 4 (0.16%), istirahat 2 (0.20%), di hutan II mencari makan, 5 (0.50%), berpindah 3 (0.30%), istirahat 2 (0.20%).Kata kunci: Ayam hutan merah (Gallus gallus), densitas, aktivitas, Gunung Klabat, Minahasa Utara, Sulawesi Utara

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis biodiversitas burung pada habitat perkebunan kelapa di Kabupaten Minahasa Utara. Pengambilan data dilaksanakan dari bulan Desember 2017 sampai dengan bulan Maret 2018 di perkebunan kelapa di Desa Maumbi, Desa Tatelu dan Desa Pinili  Kabupaten Minahasa Utara, Provinsi Sulawesi Utara.  Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode survei. Teknik penentuan petak contoh menggunakan metode purposive sampling yaitu teknik penentuan sampel dengan pertimbangan tertentu. Petak contoh ditentukan sebanyak 3 transek berbentuk garis transek (line transect) dengan panjang masing-masing transek 2000 m dan lebar 20 m dengan pengambilan data sebanyak 5 kali. Berdasarkan penelitian diperoleh hasil sebanyak 23 jenis burung dengan indeks biodiversitas sebesar 2.76, dari 23 jenis burung tersebut diketahui jumlah jenis burung yang dianggap kurang mengkhawatirkan (LC) terdapat 21 jenis burung, sedangkan status rentan (VU) terdapat 1 jenis yaitu Penelopides exarhatus dan status hampir punah (NT) terdapat satu jenis yaitu Accipiter nanus.Kata kunci: biodiversitas, burung, perkebunan kelapa, Kabupaten Minahasa Utara. Abstract Birds buy places or spaces that are used to find food, drink, shelter, play, and breed. This study aims to analyze biodiversity in coconut plantation habitat in North Minahasa Regency. Data collection was carried out from December 2017 to March 2018 in coconut plantations, North Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi Province in Maumbi Village, Tatelu Village, Pinili Village. Data retrieval is done using the survey method. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling method which is a sample selection technique with certain considerations. Sample plots are determined by 3 transects, forming line transects (line transects) with the length of each transect of 2000 m and width of 20 m by taking data 5 times. Based on research conducted in plantation habitats, North Minahasa Regency obtained research on species of birds on plantations in North Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi Province, which consisted of 23 species of birds with a biodiversity index of 2.76, of 23 species of birds there are according to the type of bird that is considered less alarming (LC) there are 21 species of birds, while the vulnerable status (VU) there is 1 type, Penelopides exarhatus and the status is almost extinct (NT) there is 1 type, Accipiter nanus. Keywords: biodiversity, birds, coconut plantations, North Minahasa Regency.

Abstract

AbstrakStudi keanekaragaman dan indeks nilai penting telah dilakukan pada vegetasi mangrove di kawasan Pantai Tanamon dengan menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Ukuran petak ditentukan dengan menggunakan kategori pengelompokan semai (2x2 m2), pancang (5x5 m2), tiang (10x10 m2) dan pohon (20x20 m2). Keanekaragaman vegetasi mangrove di Pantai Tanamon ditentukan dengan menggunakan rumus indeks keanekaragaman Shannon-Wienner. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keanekaragaman vegetasi tergolong sedang dengan nilai indeks 1,412. Di kawasan Pantai Tanamon terdapat 6 jenis mangrove yaitu Avicennia marina, Sonneratia alba, Xylocarpus granatum, Rhizophora apiculata, Nypa fruticans dan Terminalia catappa. Indeks nilai penting tertinggi pada pada X. granatum untuk kategori semai (72,977 %), A. marina untuk kategori pancang (80,357 %), A. marina untuk kategori tiang (91,623 %) dan S. alba untuk kategori pohon (142,191 %).Kata kunci: mangrove, keanekaragaman, PantaiTanamonAbstractA study on the diversity and the importance value index of mangrove vegetation in the area of Tanamon Beach was conducted using purposive sampling method. Plot size was determined using classification category of seedling (2x2 m2), stake (5x5 m2), pole (10x10 m2) and tree (20x20 m2). The diversity of mangrove vegetation in the Tanamon Beach was determined using the diversity index formula of Shannon-Wienner. The results indicated that vegetation diversity was medium and the index value was 1.412. The mangrove vegetation consisted of 6 species, i.e. Avicennia marina, Sonneratia alba, Xylocarpus granatum, Rhizophora apiculata, Nypa fruticans and Terminalia catappa. The highest importance-value-index was in the X. granatum seedling (72.977 %), A. marina stake (80.357 %), A. marina pole (91.623 %) and S. alba tree (142.191 %).Keywords: mangrove, diversity, Tanamon Beach

Abstract

Abstrak Tangkasi (Tarsius tarsier) merupakan primata primitif (Prosimi) endemik di Pulau Sulawesi dan beberapa pulau satelitnya. Mereka menempati beberapa tipe habitat, antara lain hutan primer dan sekunder, semak, mangrove, dan pertanian. Organisasi sosialnya ialah keluarga monogami hingga multimale-multifemale. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk menentukan ukuran kelompok tangkasi. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Cagar Alam Tangkoko Batuangus pada bulan Juli sampai Agustus 2012. Metode yang digunakan ialah survei pada sarang tangkasi dan dilakukan penghitungan secara sensus. Luas area pengamatan ialah 100 ha yang dibagi menjadi 100 plot berukuran 100 m x 100 m. Waktu pengamatan ialah pada pagi hari pada jam 05.00-06.00 untuk menentukan lokasi sarang pada satu plot, yang selanjutnya dilakukan sensus pada sore harinya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa di dalam 100 ha ditemukan 41 sarang atau tempat tidur tangkasi, rata-rata ukuran kelompok ialah 4,95 ± 2,26 ekor dengan modus 4. Kata kunci: ukuran kelompok, tangkasi (Tarsius tarsier), Cagar Alam Tangkoko Batuangus Abstract Tangkasi (Tarsius tarsier) is a primitive species of Sulawesi primates that is distributed in Sulawesi Island and some satellite islands. This species occupies in several habitat types, such as primary and secondary forest, shrub, mangrove, and farming area. Their social organization is monogamous family to multi-male/multi-female group. This study was conducted to determine the group size of tangkasi in the Tangkoko Batuangus Nature Reserve from July to August 2012. The survey method was used in the tangkasi nests and the census measurement was applied to the total of individuals at each nest of the 100 ha area. The 100-ha-survey area was divided into 100 plots and the size of each plot was 100 m x 100 m. The observation was carried out to determine the nest location in each plot every morning (05.00-06.00 am) and followed by the census in the afternoon. The results showed that there were 41 groups of tangkasi in the 100 ha area, the average of group size was 4,95 ± 2,26 and the modus was 4.
