Abstract

ABSTRACT The most of natural Indonesia area is dominated by water teritorial which consist of thousands of island with souronded by mangrove. Functions and benefits of mangroves have been widely known, both as a place of spawning fish in the waters, land protector of abrasion due to waves, winds from the mainland protector, filter sea water intrusion inland and content of heavy metals that are harmful to life, a haven of migratory birds, and as wildlife habitat and other direct benefits for humans. The purpose of this research is aimed to analyze the structure and composition of mangrove vegetation found in the District Likupang, North Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi. This research was conducted using the transect method and terraced path, by surveying observations and direct measurements in the field and then analyzed descriptively. The collected data are presented in tables and graphs. The results showed that the structure of mangrove forests Likupang for seedling phase dominated by Sonneratia sp, for the sapling phase is dominated by Avicennia alba and to phase dominated by Sonneratia sp while for there phase dominated by Sonneratia sp and mangrove forest composition Likupang are dominated by Sonneratia sp followed by the type Rhizopora sp., and Bruguera sp.  Key words: Forest Mangrove, Mangrove types, structure and composition of the Mangrove

Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACT   Charcoal briquettes is solid alternative fuel for oil. This research aimed to evaluate charcoal product from three types of carbonization kiln that used nutmeg shell waste and examine the process of making charcoal briquettes from nutmeg shell waste. The observed characteristics of charcoal briquettes from nutmeg shell waste were  calories value, ash content, and water content. The benefit of this research was producing alternative fuels from renewable agricultural waste into economically valuable products as wells as reducing environmental pollution. This product was charcoal briquettes that could be used for household requirement, small food and beverage industry and canteen.  Key Words: Charcoal Briquet, Nutmeg shell, Carbonization kiln

Abstract

ABSTRACTPercetion and Interaction of Wawona Wawona Rural Communities to Sulawesi Black MonkeysSulawesi is the largest area in the region which is biogeography walacea a meeting location flora and fauna between the Indo-Malaysia and Australasia (Lee et al, 2001). In North Sulawesi are black monkeys Sulawesi (Macaca nigra). Currently, the existence of black monkeys Sulawesi experienced survival in nature. The main factor is the high intensity of the interference that comes from outside the region, either in the form of disturbance to habitat conversion of forest land into agricultural land as well as on the black monkeys Sulawesi itself in the form of hunting.Wawona village is the village directly adjacent to the Wildlife Manembonembo. The total area of the village of Wawona is 20.5 km2, or 19.01% of the area of the District Tatapaan. There are still many people who capture animals Village Wawona (34%). Although only 6% of the people who catch monkeys Sulawesi black, but most people still eat meat Sulawesi black monkey. Most of the community looked at the forest just as a place to store water (53%) and prevention of flooding (23%) only 9% who considered that forests are important for the survival of animals that includes monkeys Sulawesi black.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The study aims to identify the occurrence of mass movement in the village Rumengkor and calculate the volume of soil that experienced mass movement in the village Rumengkor. The research was carried for three months from June to August 2014. Research using survey method with the method of design through several stages which includes the identification of mass movement through the inventory and analysis (taking into account the secondary data and primary data darihasil laboratory analysis and the results of field measurements), then calculate the volume of soil that is moved through the tread design drawings. The identification results of the mass movement of land in the village of Rumengkor shows there has been a process of disengagement from the connective power (cohesion) soil / rock and roots are weak so that the granules soil / rock can be released from his bonds and then a process of transporting / moving to the bottom of the slope by dragging Other grains around it to form a larger mass and settles on the bottom of the slope (98m). Weak holding capacity soil / rock can be caused by a rock that is not compact, the physical properties of the dominant clay soil texture, water break-out properties (permeability) moderate to fast which is supported by high rainfall, the ground cracks, the scarcity of ground cover plants and Volume space land of productive land are lost as a result of mass movement in the village of Rumengkor calculated from the movement of the tread design perspective 7199.25 m3.  Keywords : Land Mass, Cohesion and Permeability

Abstract

ABSTRACT The study aimed to find out the attacks of caterpillar pests on cabbage crop in the Village of Kakaskasen II, District of North Tomohon, Tomohon.  Research has been conducted on cabbage in the Village of Kakaskasen II, Tomohon.  The study lasted four months, which began in March 2015 until July 2015. The study was conducted by surveys using sampling methods of purporsive sampling.  Cabbage plants showing symptoms were observed.   Cabbage plants with symptoms counted as attacked by caterpillars, although no larvae found.  Data were observed in this study were (i) symptoms of attacks by caterpillar pest on the crop, (ii) the number of part of the plant showing symptoms and no symptoms, (iii) cabbage crop weight.  Parts of plants that were observed for the caterpillar attack were the leaf, the crop, the crop and leave, and the growing point.  The results showed that the percentage of attacks of caterpillar crop of C.  pavonana in Village of Kakaskasen II reached 48.83 percent.  The crop part showed the highest pecent of attack, which was 16.84 percent, followed by the crop and leave parts of 15.24 percent, and then the growing point parts by 13.61 percent, and the lowest was 3.14 percent was found on the leaf part.  The average weight of cabbage crop are attacked by pests caterpillar crop, C. pavonana lower (1.44 kg) compared to cabbage crop is not affected (3.34 kg ).
