Abstract

Palm Oil Factory Energy consists of steam and electricity. To increase the performance, energy will to beaudited. Electrical measurements are carried out at the power house, panels at each station and some electricmotors. Measurement in the main panel uses a power quality analyzer that can measure power, power factor,harmonics, unbalance and other electrical parameters. For measurement of mechanical equipment with steamenergy such as boilers and turbines using temperature measuring devices with infrared thermal imaging toolsFLIR brand. The quality of electric power with a total harmonic of 5.12% and individual harmonics of 2.78%.Voltage and current unbalance are 0.09% and 0.15%. Voltage drop is equal to 3 volts. The use of electricityutilities is 22.81 kW / ton FFB. The factory has cos phi of 0.84 but requires automatic power factor correction.The efficiency of boilers is 64.19% with the biggest losses being dry flue gas of 20.19% and oyher boiler of67.82% with the biggest losses being dry flue gas of 16.45%.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to calculate boiler performance by knowing energy losses during uap production.Technical analysis on the boiler is needed, as an effort to increase efficiency and know how much energy iswasted as a loss. Factors causing the greatest heat loss / heat loss in the boiler include: "heat loss due to dryflue gas, uap content in the flue gas, water content in fuel, water content in air supply and others". Heat loss /heat loss or also can be called energy loss is one of the important factors that is very influential in identifyingthe efficiency of the boiler.For that analysis study is carried out with the calculation of heat loss in order todetermine the magnitude of performance decline and the causes of decreased performance. Based on data andanalysis of the direct method it is known that the highest energy loss is 26.6% with an efficiency of 74.5%.There needs to be an improvement in the control of the fuel settings and the incoming air optimally by usingthe Oxygen Trim Control which functions to measure the oxygen concentration in the chimney andautomatically regulates the oxygen in the air entering the burner so as to produce combustion with optimalefficiency. And by using an economizer on preheating feed water temperature can increase boiler efficiency

Abstract

Briquettes are solid fuels that can be used as alternative energy. This research aims to determine the optimalratio of raw materials with adhesive content at about 10% constantly. The stages of this research were asfollows: 1) Sampling of raw materials, 2) Drying and decomposition of raw materials, 3) CarbonizationProcess, 4) Milling. 5) Composition Treatment, 6) Pressing and quality analysis of briquettes. The data of thisresearch were obtained by measuring calorific value, moisture content, ash content, density, compressivestrength, and combustion rate. The ratio between empty bunch : bagasse respectively was depended on100%: 0%, 75%: 25%, 50%: 50%, 25%: 75%, 0%: 100%. The Parameters of treatments were calorific value,moisture content, ash content, density, compressive strength, and combusition rate to find out the bestparameters. The result of this research shows the that the combination of empty bunch and baggase gave theeffect to the qualities. The highest calorific value was showed in the ratio empty bunch : baggase (100% : 0%)with average HHV value; the lowest average of moisture content ; the lowest ash content; density;compressive strength value; and combustion rate respectively 5889 cal/gr; 2,81%; 20%; 0,941 gr/ml;1,82N/cm2;0,00223gr/second.

Abstract

Deterioration of bleachability index (DOBI) reflects the paleness index of crude palm oil which has the aim ofremoving the color (bleaching) that is less favored in oil, so DOBI is quite important to assist processing inrefining palm oil. This study aims to determine the DOBI value contained in crude palm oil derived fromdifferent levels of fruit maturity namely unripped fruit, riped and overripe on oil palm at 850 meters above sealevel, as well as its stability on heating for 0 and 24 hours. The results showed that ripe fruit has a DOBIvalue of 1.75 and has better stability compared to raw fruit and through ripe.

Abstract

The low percentage fruit set will impact on the percentage of fruit to bunch and weight of Bunch. Fruit set islow causing the formation of partenokarpi fruit/coat so that the harvest process is involved in loading, carryingand processing. To solve the problem, the management of post-harvest Bunis is necessary. Comparing the "V"(conventional) stem cutting, which is often referred to as the “Cangkem Kodok” (CK) as it is usually applied inthe plantation and the treatment of bunches (stalk) and base of bunches/stalks that have no fruit/ brondolancalled a “Cangkem Buaya" (CB). This research was conducted on oil palm plantation year 2015 planting in thePlantation of Bah Birung Ulu PTP. Nusantara IV. Five Month research time, namely in February-June year2019. This research uses a descriptive analysis method that is the primary data retrieval analyzed with Analysisof Variance (ANOVA) and then conducted advanced test using the smallest real difference (BNT) at 5% as wellas correlation of several parameters Observation. The results showed that the weight of the stem garbage wastewith a higher CB treatment compared with CK treatment and with the treatment of CB can save the garbagethat does not fit, transport and sports per bunch in Afdeling 1 by 5.59%, Afdeling 2 8.02% and Afdeling 37.63%. With the treatment of stem cutting and base of the fruit bunching (Brondolan) or called the treatment ofcrocodile hoe can increase the percentage of Fruit to a bunch average of 6%. The oil extraction were 27%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the color of crude palm oil in the Marjandi estate with an altitude of800 meters above sea level with a comparison of raw fruit, ripe and over ripe and the stability colorof crude palm oil. The results of the analysis of raw fruit at an altitude of 800 m dpl have the lowestcolor compared to other levels of maturity that is equal to 1.1 (red) and 11 (yellow), and maturefruits have the highest colors 1.7 (red) and 17 (yellow). The decline occurred in ripe fruit in theamount of 1.3 (red) and 13 (yellow) with a percentage decrease of 10%. And the results of theanalysis of crude palm oil at an altitude of 800 masl lower than the average value of 400 - 600 masl,which has a value of 3 for red and 30 for yellow. The better color stability of crude palm oil is thatthe yellow color is lower than the red color

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of oil palm fronds addition as a mixture to the mechanicalproperties of bricks in terms of porosity testing, and compressive strength, and to determine theproper percentage of oil palm frond additions. This research is a type of experiment with arandomized block design (RBD) arranged non-factorial and the data is processed using the SPSS 20Tukey test program. This study used a brick-shaped sample with a length of 19 cm, a width of 9.5 cmand a height of 4.5 cm. Variations in the composition of the added oil palm fronds are 0%, 5%, 10%,15%, and 20%. Parameter mechanical properties of bricks included porosity, and compressivestrength tests. The addition of oil palm fronds with a composition percentage of 0% to 10% affectedthe mechanical properties of the bricks by reducing porosity and increasing the compressive strengthof the bricks. Based on the test results obtained by each of the best test values, namely the minimumporosity value achieved in the percentage of oil palm fronds as much as 10%, which is 18.4%. Theoptimum compressive strength value is achieved on the percentage of oil palm fronds as much as 10%which is equal to 20.5 N / mm²

Abstract

Growth population were very fast and caused demand to the energy increasingly while fuel ingredients fossilthinning out. The needed of energy alternative sources as energy biomass among them briquettes charcoal. Inanother, there are some potential biomass sources, one of that is empty bunch of oil pam. Briquettes charcoalfrom oil palm empty bunch could be an alternative to resolve limitations source power energy and at once asalternative. The material which used in this study were oil palm empty bunch and hyacinth mumps. Adhesivesare used is tapioca. The method used is press hydraulic with pressure Felts 0, 8 tons levels 10% adhesive.Charcoal processing used a modified drum. Charcoal obtained then pounded and then made ingredients traybriquettes charcoal. Briquettes charcoal made from 5 variations composition ingredients oil palm empty bunchand water hyacinth were 100%, 75 %: 25%, 50%: 50%, 25%: 75% with adhesive concentration 10% with adiameter of 2.15cm and 5.5 cm. The results of this study that best briquettes is TEG-1 treatment (100% bunchesblank with 10% adhesive produces) with value heat 5896 cal / g, water content 2.81%, content ash 20 %.

Abstract

Physical damage to fruit on oil palm fresh fruit bunches due to harvest and postharvest activities include injuredfruit mesocarp, fruit weight loss, and loss in fruit bunches. One of the postharvest handling that can maintainthe physical quality of the fruit is by giving gibberellins (GA3). This research aims to determine the effect of theconcentration of gibberellins (GA3) whit application time before harvest on the physical quality of postharvestoil palm fresh fruit bunches. The research was conducted at Afdeling VI Garden Cot Girek PT. PerkebunanNusantara I and in the Cot Girek Palm Oil Factory laboratory. The time of the research was conducted in Juneuntil July 2019. The study used a non factorial randomized block design method with 4 treatment levels (0 mg/l,50 mg/l, 100 mg/l, and 150 mg/l) with 3 replications. The administration of gibberellins has a significant effecton fruit loss and fruit weight reduction with the best concentration og gibberellins is 50 ppm but does not havea significant efffect on pH, moisture content, and fruit free fatty acids.

Abstract

V-Notch 900 is a device that has a triangular-shaped gap with an angle of ninety degrees. Tanjung Seumantoh Palm Oil Mill does not yet have a tool to measure the discharge of diluent water used at press stations, so there are often problems with the composition of crude oil that is not ideal due to too much or too little diluent water used. This study aims to determine the magnitude of the effect of using V-Notch as an indicator of crude oil diluent water regulation at Tanjung Seumantoh Palm Oil Mill PT. Nusantara I Plantation so that the comparison after and before Tanjung Seumantoh Palm Oil Mill using V-Notch at the press station is known. The results of this study show that the composition of crude oil before the application of V-Notch is 33:45:22 (Oil:Water:Nos) By using press number 3, 1 and 2 without knowing how much diluent water is used. After the application of V-Notch to 39:40:21 using pressan number 3, 1 and 2, it is known that the amount of diluent water used is 16.2 tons / hour. This indicates that the application of V-Notch can affect the composition of Crude Oil at the Press station to be ideal according to company standards. The oil content in palm fibers and palm kernel is 50%-55% and 40% respectively and the ideal crude oil composition is 40%Oil: 40%Water: 20%Nos.
