Abstract

This study aims to analyze Triple Helix collaboration in an effort to increase the economic productivity of coffee farmers in Ulu Wae Village, East Lamba Leda District, East Manggarai Regency. The Triple Helix concept emphasizes synergy among the government, academia, and business actors as primary agents in driving innovation and local potential-based economic development. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the local government through the Agriculture Office, coffee farmers, as well as involved academics and business actors. The analytical framework used is Emerson and Nabatchi’s (2015) collaboration framework, which encompasses system context, drivers of collaboration, collaboration dynamics, as well as actions, outcomes, and adaptation. The results indicate that Triple Helix collaboration in Ulu Wae Village is operational, yet not fully optimal. The government plays a role in providing policy and production facilities, academia contributes through mentoring and knowledge transfer, while business actors assist with market access and increasing product added value. However, the collaboration still faces various obstacles, such as infrastructure limitations, weak coordination among actors, low utilization of information technology, and weak institutional capacity of farmers. This study concludes that strengthening a sustainable, structured, and needs-based Triple Helix collaboration is essential to enhance the productivity and economic welfare of coffee farmers in Ulu Wae Village.

Abstract

Mung bean farming has economic potential for rural communities; however, its sustainability depends on profitability and the implementation of effective marketing strategies. This study aimed to analyze the financial feasibility and marketing strategies of mung bean farming in Dualasi Raiulun Village, Lasiolat District, Belu Regency. The study employed a survey method with quantitative and qualitative descriptive approaches. A total of 51 farmers were selected as respondents based on the research criteria. Financial feasibility was analyzed using production costs, revenue, net income, Revenue Cost Ratio (R/C Ratio), and Break Even Point (BEP), while marketing strategies were analyzed using the 4P marketing mix consisting of product, price, place, and promotion. The results showed that the average production cost was IDR 1,343,137.25, average revenue was IDR 7,701,373, and net income reached IDR 6,358,236 per farmer per growing season. The R/C Ratio of 5.7 indicated that mung bean farming was financially feasible. The production BEP was 82.04 kg, while the price BEP was IDR 6,329.42/kg, both of which were below the actual average production of 424 kg and the average selling price of IDR 16,411.76/kg. The marketing strategy incorporated product, price, place, and promotion elements; however, marketing practices remained dominated by traditional channels through local markets, intermediary traders, personal networks, and word-of-mouth promotion. Strengthening farmer institutions, diversifying marketing channels, improving product quality, and adopting digital marketing are necessary to enhance farmers' bargaining power and income sustainability.

Abstract

Red dragon fruit is a horticultural commodity with considerable economic value and potential to improve farmers’ income in dry-climate regions. This study aims to analyze farm income and the marketing efficiency of red dragon fruit in Kolobolon Village, Lobalain District, Rote Ndao Regency. The study employed a quantitative descriptive approach. Respondents were selected using the census method, involving 22 red dragon fruit farmers and 10 marketing actors engaged in product distribution. Data were collected through observation, structured interviews, and documentation. Data analysis included production costs, revenue, farm income, marketing channels, marketing margins, farmer’s share, and marketing efficiency. The results show that red dragon fruit farming generates positive returns for farmers. Total revenue received by all farmers reached IDR 554,000,000, with an average revenue of IDR 25,181,818 per farmer, while total production costs amounted to IDR 82,905,000. Red dragon fruit is marketed through direct channels from farmers to consumers and indirect channels involving marketing intermediaries. Shorter marketing channels generate lower marketing margins and provide farmers with a higher share of the consumer price. These findings indicate that shortening the marketing chain can improve distribution efficiency and farmers’ income. Strengthening direct marketing, farmer institutions, and access to broader markets is necessary to improve farmers’ bargaining position and support the sustainability of red dragon fruit farming.

Abstract

Community service for revitalizing historical information and village maps was carried out because the existing village information boards did not present the history and village maps well, both in terms of content and physical condition. With this community service program, historical information and village maps were updated through the rejuvenation of information boards so that they were attractive, functional, and easily accessible to residents. This information board can increase community knowledge regarding the village area and the history of the village's formation, as well as its existing potential. The creation of this information board used a location survey method, data collection through interviews with community leaders, designing a village map, making and installing the board at a predetermined location. On this information board, a village map, a brief historical narrative of the village's formation, and the potential that exists in the village, such as in the fields of agriculture and animal husbandry, were listed. The community was very enthusiastic about the creation of this information board, because it can be an educational medium, and can strengthen the local identity of the Ngegedhawe village community.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the marketing strategies applied by the Usaha Maju Bersama farmer group in Noelbaki Village and to analyze the income generated from moringa leaf tea farming. The research employed descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods, with SWOT analysis (IFAS and EFAS) to identify internal and external factors influencing marketing strategies, and cost– revenue analysis to measure farm income. The results show that marketing strategies include product, price, promotion, and distribution, with strengths in product quality but weaknesses in packaging and promotion. Opportunities arise from increasing consumer demand for herbal products, while threats include competition from similar products. Income analysis revealed that the business is economically feasible, with an annual net income of Rp 64,275,000. These findings highlight the need for improved digital promotion, packaging innovation, and distribution expansion to enhance competitiveness and sustainability.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) determine the operational costs of the Klibur, Putra Homa, and Tede Saja rice milling businesses; (2) analyze business income; and (3) assess business feasibility based on financial and non-financial aspects, using a case study method. The study population consisted of three rice milling business owners and 30 farmers utilizing the milling services, selected purposively. Data were analyzed using cost and income analysis, Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Revenue-Cost Ratio (R/C Ratio), and Break-Even Point (BEP), alongside an analysis of non-financial aspects—covering service, social, environmental, and technical factors using a Likert scale. The results indicate that operational costs for the 2023–2025 period were Rp43,074,750 for Klibur, Rp34,295,963 for Putra Homa, and Rp29,996,133 for Tede Saja. Total income earned amounted to Rp39,180,850, Rp35,715,473, and Rp25,796,787, with total revenues of Rp82,255,600, Rp70,011,400, and Rp55,792,900, respectively. Financial analysis shows that all three businesses are feasible to operate, as evidenced by positive NPV values, IRR values exceeding the 12% interest rate, and R/C Ratios greater than 1. The obtained IRR values were 32% (Klibur), 29% (Putra Homa), and 26% (Tede Saja). Regarding non-financial aspects, the rice milling businesses fall into the "highly feasible" category, with feasibility scores of 87% for service users, 53% for social aspects, 53% for environmental aspects, and 100% for technical aspects. Thus, the rice milling agro-industrial businesses of Klibur, Putra Homa, and Tede Saja in Homa Village are viable to operate and develop from both financial and non-financial perspectives.

Abstract

Agritourism development is a rural development strategy that integrates the agricultural and tourism sectors to increase the added value of local commodities and community welfare. Colol Village, located in East Lamba Leda District, East Manggarai Regency, is known as one of the prominent centers for Arabica coffee production in East Nusa Tenggara Province, which has begun to develop as an agritourism destination. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of coffee agritourism development, the level of coffee farming income, and the socio-economic impacts of agritourism development on farmers. This research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method involving 70 coffee farmers selected through purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted through observation, in-depth interviews, and questionnaire distribution. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, farm income analysis, multiple linear regression, and path analysis using SPSS software. The results showed that coffee agritourism development contributes positively to improving the community's socio-economic conditions. The coefficient of determination ($R^2$) of 56.2% indicates that a substantial portion of the variation in farmers' income is explained by variables such as farmer participation, additional business activities, agritourism supporting activities, and job creation. Partially, farmer participation (Sig. 0.002) and additional businesses resulting from agritourism (Sig. 0.012) have a positive and significant effect on increasing farmers' income, whereas tourism area sanitation activities and job creation have not shown a significant effect. Beyond increasing farm household income, agritourism development also fosters community cooperation, improves environmental quality, diversifies economic ventures, and strengthens the identity of Colol Village as a coffee agritourism region. Thus, community-based agritourism development serves as a viable strategy for sustainable rural economic development.

Abstract

Marketing plays a significant role in determining the success of shallot farming because it directly affects farmers' income. Shallot farmers in Oehandi Village face several challenges, including unstable market prices, limited market access, weak digital promotion, and inadequate packaging practices that reduce product value. This study aims to analyze the internal and external factors affecting shallot marketing and formulate appropriate marketing strategies to improve farmers' income. The research was conducted in Oehandi Village, Southwest Rote District, Rote Ndao Regency using a survey method. Respondents consisted of 40 shallot farmers and 6 traders selected through purposive and saturated sampling techniques. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The analysis employed Internal Factor Analysis Summary (IFAS), External Factor Analysis Summary (EFAS), and SWOT analysis. The results indicate that the main strengths include high-quality products, suitable agro-climatic conditions, competitive prices, and the initial adoption of social media for promotion. The main weaknesses are limited capital, inadequate storage facilities, low utilization of digital technology, and short product shelf life. Opportunities include increasing market demand, digital marketing development, processed product diversification, and higher prices during supply shortages. Meanwhile, threats consist of price fluctuations, climate change, increasing competition, and limited market access. SWOT analysis places the business in Quadrant I, indicating a growth-oriented strategy. Recommended strategies include improving product quality, strengthening farmer institutions, expanding digital marketing, developing value-added products, and broadening market networks. These strategies are expected to enhance competitiveness and sustainably increase farmers' income.

Abstract

The existence of Tuha Peut as a representative institution at the gampong level constitutes an essential component of Aceh’s customary governance system, integrating principles of local democracy with local wisdom. However, the selection mechanisms of Tuha Peut in Aceh Besar Regency vary across gampongs, raising important questions regarding how customary values, community participation, and social representation are manifested in the selection process. This study aims to analyze the selection models of Tuha Peut as a representation of local wisdom within the customary governance system of Aceh Besar Regency. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, focusing on Gampong Ateuk Anggok, Ingin Jaya District, and Gampong Meunasah Papeun, Krueng Barona Jaya District. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation and subsequently analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal two distinct models of Tuha Peut selection. Gampong Ateuk Anggok applies a direct election mechanism that emphasizes political participation, transparency, and electoral legitimacy, whereas Gampong Meunasah Papeun employs a deliberative mechanism within each dusun that prioritizes consensus, territorial representation, community leadership, and social acceptance. These two models demonstrate that democracy at the gampong level is not implemented uniformly but adapts to local social structures and customary traditions. The study concludes that the Tuha Peut selection model represents a form of customary-based local democracy that integrates participation, deliberation, representation, and community legitimacy into gampong governance.

Abstract

The conversion of paddy fields is a critical issue in agricultural development as it directly reduces the availability of land for food production. Rote Ndao Regency, one of the regions with the largest paddy field areas in East Nusa Tenggara Province, has experienced a significant decrease in paddy field area over the past five years with much of the land converted for housing, small businesses, and public facilities. If the conversion of paddy fields for non-agricultural functions is not controlled, it will reduce the area of land available for food production. This study employed a quantitative research method. The research was conducted in Rote Ndao Regency using both primary and secondary data. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the SPSS program to determine the influence of multiple independent variables on the dependent variable. The research findings show that 3,442 hectares of land in Rote Ndao Regency have been converted from paddy fields. These lands are no longer used for rice cultivation, but have been changed for other purposes. The results of the multiple linear regression analysis (T-test) indicate that each independent factor has a significant effect on land conversion. The factors causing the conversion of paddy fields in Rote Ndao Regency are: population growth (X1), growth of household-scale industries (X2), household income (X3), location of paddy fields (X4), and productivity of paddy fields (X5). To support food security programs, the government is recommended to tighten land conversion permits from agricultural to non-agricultural use. Additionally, the government should consider providing agricultural extension services to farmers to encourage the productive and sustainable use of existing agricultural land.
