Abstract

Animation media has a role in the process of global cultural exposure, especially through the designed worldbuilding in it. An animated work with worldbuilding that designs culture well is the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender. This research is focused on exploring the differences between the cultures of the Southern and Northern Water Tribes in the world of Avatar based on Hofstede's four layers of cultural theory (Symbols, Heroes, Rituals, & Values), especially in women's culture. The research was conducted using comparative qualitative methods. In this research, differences were found in Symbols (clothing, hair, jewelry), Heroes (Katara and Yue), Rituals, and Values in the two water tribes. Southern women prioritize practicality and survival, as reflected by Katara while northern women emphasize social order and tradition, embodied by Princess Yue. This research shows that in worldbuilding, various cultures can be formed and deepen the narrative of an animation.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menitik beratkan pada perancangan "Buku Pop-Up Media Tumbuh Kembang Anak Diadaptasi Dari Cerita Rakyat Gayo Putri Pukes" dengan tujuan utama memberikan pengalaman belajar yang inovatif dan menarik bagi anak-anak, sekaligus mempromosikan kekayaan budaya lokal. Fokus utama penelitian terletak pada fase desain dan implementasi buku Pop-Up, yang melibatkan penggunaan mekanisme khusus serta cerita rakyat Gayo sebagai instrumen untuk memperkaya pertumbuhan dan perkembangan anak.Dalam upaya merinci aspek perancangan, digunakan metode analisis SWOT untuk mengevaluasi secara komprehensif kekuatan, kelemahan, peluang, dan ancaman yang mungkin muncul dalam proses perancangan. Sementara itu, data yang diperoleh didapat melalui observasi, wawancara, dan studi literatur, dengan audiens utama yang menjadi fokus adalah anak-anak berusia 4-6 tahun. Tujuan utamanya adalah menghasilkan buku yang tidak hanya berperan dalam pendidikan kognitif, tetapi juga menjelaskan dan mewariskan nilai-nilai budaya. Perancangan ini secara khusus berusaha memberikan pengalaman belajar yang stimulatif, kreatif, dan sejalan dengan tahapan perkembangan anak-anak. Dengan demikian, diharapkan bahwa "Buku Pop-Up Media Tumbuh Kembang Anak Diadaptasi Dari Cerita Rakyat Gayo Putri Pukes" dapat memberikan kontribusi positif yang signifikan dalam pengembangan aspek kognitif anak-anak berusia 4-6 tahun. Sebagai harapan dari penelitian ini, buku ini diinginkan tidak hanya sebagai alat pembelajaran yang menarik dan edukatif, melainkan juga mampu menanamkan rasa cinta anak-anak terhadap warisan budaya lokal, membentuk karakter positif, serta menciptakan momen pembelajaran yang membekas dan berkesan, sehingga dapat menjadi dasar untuk penerapan pendekatan pembelajaran yang lebih menyeluruh dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Pemahaman maskulinitas telah berkembang menjadi gambaran yang kaku dalam masyarakat, menjadikan maskulinitas sebagai kepribadian yang tangguh, tegas, berani, kasar, dan sebagainya. Film Barbie (2023) yang disutradarai oleh Greta Gerwig menampilkan gambaran kehidupan perempuan dan laki-laki dalam sistem ideologi patriarki, serta mengkritik stereotip gender dengan humor, membawa pesan moral yang mendalam untuk dibahas, yaitu kesetaraan gender, sistem patriarki, dan double standard bagi perempuan dalam masyarakat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui representasi maskulinitas pada karakter Ken, menggunakan teori semiotika Roland Barthes untuk mengetahui pemaknaan dari suatu tanda atau simbol melalui analisis makna denotatif, makna konotatif, dan mitos tentang maskulinitas dalam film. Data penelitian ini diperoleh dari adegan-adegan film, observasi film, dan studi kepustakaan. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah representasi maskulinitas dalam film Barbie (2023) digambarkan oleh sifat dan perilaku yang Ken miliki, seperti berperilaku agresif, mengontrol dan mendominasi orang-orang di sekitarnya, berusaha mendapatkan otoritas kekuasaan dan status sosial yang tinggi agar dihormati oleh orang lain, film ini juga membuktikan bahwa maskulinitas seorang laki-laki tidak hanya ditentukan oleh penampilan fisik saja, tetapi juga ditentukan oleh kepribadian, norma, dan nilai-nilai yang dibentuk oleh sosial budaya.

Abstract

Jurnal ini menganalisis visualisasi emosi dan proses regulasi emosi pada tokoh utama film Turning Red. Film ini bercerita tentang bagaimana seorang gadis remaja mendapati dirinya berubah menjadi karakter hewan panda merah yang menyebabkan perubahan emosinya yang berfluktuasi. Situasi ini membuatnya belajar mengatur emosinya dengan bantuan keluarga dan lingkungan. Jurnal ini akan membahas tentang bagaimana seorang remaja mengatur emosinya yang direpresentasikan dari ekspresi, gerak tubuh, penempatan kamera dan warna. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa film ini menekankan ekspresi wajah sebagai representasi visual utama pengaturan emosi dengan gerak tubuh, penempatan kamera dan warna sebagai faktor pendukungnya.

Abstract

The Kuflet Art Community is an art community focused on literature and theater, offering a platform for artists to express their creativity as part of a group with shared interests. An effective promotional media concept is necessary to address the challenges in reaching a wider audience and strengthening the community's image, which is highly dedicated to literacy. The target audience for this design includes artists, art practitioners, and anyone involved in the arts in Padang Panjang City. The methods used in designing the promotional media include data collection through observation, interviews, and questionnaires to understand the needs and characteristics of the community. The design process is carried out by applying design and animation principles relevant to the identity of the Kuflet Art Community. The promotional media is designed to provide information about the community's programs, achievements, and relationships in an engaging and communicative manner. The design results include promotional media capable of convincing and inviting the target audience to join the Kuflet Art Community and increasing public awareness of the community's existence. The media mix produced includes videos, posters, flyers, brochures, x-banners, stamps, business cards, lanyards, and various merchandise. This design is expected to be the first step in a broader sustainable promotional strategy.

Abstract

Commercial photography used as one of the promotional media. Designers created commercial photography as a creative aspect of the batik product ads of malaka rumoh which is the original batik of the kuta malaka, Big day.Creation process carried out through design thinking method. The stage starts with data collection and analysis gathering, resulting in the concept of a photo shoot. The results of the work were then poured into various media among the prototype billboards, poster, magazines and website markets place. The use of commercial photography is expected to improve the quality of promotion for malaka batik. The role of photography in advertising is crucial to supporting the promotion of a product.
