Abstract

Spot welding is used as a tool to meet the UKK (Skill Competency Test) requirements in the Metal Fabrication and Manufacturing Engineering department at SMK Negeri 2 Surakarta in the form of welding workpieces from iron plates. The results of the welding are non-sticky and perforated iron plates. This research aims to redesign the spot welding machine by adding a TDR (Time Delay Relay) component to regulate the welding time using the benchmarking method. Data collection through interviews and observation. The results of the benchmarking analysis show that spot welding has easier welding specifications, has TDR and automatic switch components, dimensions of 45 x 23 x 15 cm and is capable of welding up to a plate thickness of 1,5 + 1,5 mm. Has a selling price of Rp. 1,200,000,-, so that it is able to compete in the market.

Abstract

The Budi Bakti Masa Farmer Group is a farmer group in Sumberrejo Village, Tempel District, Sleman Regency, DIY. When entering the corn harvest season, farmers dry their crops with the help of sunlight. The process of drying corn is done by drying it in direct sunlight. During the rainy season, farmers find it difficult to dry their corn crops. Corn drying during the rainy season take 3-5 days or even more. The purpose of this research is to design a corn dryer that can speed up the drying process and is not dependent on the weather. The research was conducted using the Verein Deutscher Ingenieure (VDI) 2221 method. Data was collected using a questionnaire. The questionnaire used in this regard is an open and closed questionnaire. The respondents in this study were members of the Budi Bakti Masa farmer group, a total of 21 people. In designing the VDI 2221 method, there are 4 stages, namely job description, concept planning, form design, and detailed design. Based on the trial results, the corn dryer was able to dry 100 kg of rice with a moisture content of 36.3% to dry rice with a moisture content of 12% within 6 hours.

Abstract

The use and utilization of steel in the industrial world is very extensive because steel has unique properties, especially its strength. All tooling equipment cannot be separated from the engineering process and repair in the event of damage, namely by welding. One of the things that must be considered in welding is the cooling process. The purpose of the research was conducted to determine the effect of the cooling process on welding on the tensile strength of medium carbon steel using palm waste as a cooling medium. Tensile test samples were made with 3 variations of cooling media (PKO 100%, PKO75%, PKO 50%) using a HUNG TA HT-8503 machine. The highest tensile strength value was obtained from the 75% PKO variation with a tensile strength value of 345.58 Mpa. While the lowest tensile strength value is obtained from the 50% PKO variation with a tensile strength value of 232.28 Mpa.

Abstract

This research was done to meet the needs of the Laboratory of PLC in Politeknik Kampar will be a creative learning media and innovative. With a learning media in the form of a robot arm, the students are expected to be easier to understand and apply a control system using a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). The research begins by making the design of the robot arm and then assembled into a coherent whole by adding stepper motors on each of the degrees of freedom. Once the tool is assembled, then testing by using PLC. Tests such as the degree rotation (DOF) of each of the robot arm to grab an object. The end result of this research is a tool in the form of a robotic arm that is ready for learning PLC in Politeknik Kampar.

Abstract

PT Multindo Anugerah Perkasa is a third party company that supplies fuel in the form of corncob biomass to PT PLN Nusantara Power. Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) is a method used to measure the effectiveness of machines or equipment. To get OEE, 3 ratio calculations are required, namely Avaliability, Performance Rate, and Quality Ratio. The World Class OEE standard from JIPM is 85%. This research was carried out on a corn cob chopping machine at PT Multindo Anugerah Perkasa because there was no calculation of the effectiveness of the machine, the machine used to chop corn cobs often underwent maintenance outside of the scheduled maintenance schedule. The results of the OEE calculation for this corncob chopping machine show that the effectiveness of the machine still meets world class effectiveness standards, namely 85% with an Avaliability value of 92% above JIPM standards, a Performance Rate of 93% and a Quality Ratio value of 100% in this case quality The results produced perfectly meet JIPM standards, so this corn cob chopper machine is still effectively used to fulfill the biomass supply to PT PLN Nusantara Power.

Abstract

Coppo Benteng is a company that produces premium quality rice. However, there are problems in the factory activities, namely the rice production process which has several work stations. So it is necessary to analyze in identifying the causes of waste that are described with the help of value stream mapping tools to help the cause of waste in order to create a quality and guaranteed infrastructure. The research method used is the process of analyzing waste in the premium rice production process at CV. Coppo Benteng is carried out by identifying and analyzing activities that do not provide added value and providing suggestions for improvements to eliminate waste. From the results of the analysis carried out on each activity in the premium rice production process at CV. Coppo Benteng Kab. Soppeng resulted in 5 types of waste found, including waste waiting time 20%, waste unnecessary motion 10%, waste defect 5%, waste transportation 5%, and waste processing 10%. The proposed strategy that can be given is to eliminate activities that cause a lot of waste, namely in the waiting time section which must apply the latest technology and improve the infrastructure system.

Abstract

Peatland is one of the lands that can be planted with oil palm. However, peatlands tend to dry out easily and produce methane gas. If methane gas exceeds the normal limit plus high temperatures it can trigger fires in oil palm plantations on peatlands. As a solution, an early warning system for fires on oil palm plantations on peat lands was built based on a website and telegram. The purpose of this system is to provide information to palm oil farmers regarding changes in methane gas levels and temperature in real time so that they can prevent fires. The components used to build this system are the ESP32 Module to connect the device to the internet, the MQ4 sensor to measure methane gas levels, the DHT11 sensor to measure temperature. The implementation process uses the C programming language to program tools through the Arduino IDE, PHP and MySQL applications to manage the database. Based on the test results, the system displays changes in data on methane gas levels and temperature every 10 seconds via the website and sends a telegram notification if the temperature increases by 1°C or the methane gas is above 1000 ppm. The tool that was built can work optimally at a radius of 15 m from the fire point.

Abstract

In general, furniture is made from hard and durable wood. But now hard and durable wood is starting to be difficult to find. So, alternative materials are sought that are easy to get and cheap. ASTM D638 standard wood for Tensile testing, the strength results of palm wood aged 16-20 years are 4.47 MPa, 14.41 MPa for 21-25 year old palm wood while Plajau wood’s strength is 114.77 MPa. Standard SNI 03-3958-1995 for compression testing showed that the strength of palm wood aged 16-20 years was 9.93 MPa, palm wood aged 21-25 years was 10.05 MPa and plajau wood was 55.27 MPa Standard SNI 03- 3959-1995 for the Bending test, the results showed that the strength of palm wood aged 16-20 years was 4.50 N/mm2, palm wood aged 21-25 years was 21.17 N/mm2 and plajau wood was 91.66 N/mm2. Based on the results of the study it can be explained that oil palm wood aged 16-20 years and 21-25 years cannot be used as raw material for making furniture.

Abstract

Supply Chain Management is a concept or mechanism to increase the total productivity of the company in the supply chain through optimizing the time, location and quantity flow of materials from raw materials to semi-finished products and finished products. The measurement design framework is prepared based on the functions or scope in the Supply Chain which refers to the Supply Chain Operation Reference (SCOR) such as: Plan, Source, Make, Deliver, and Return, with a performance measurement system consisting of aspects of Reliability, Responsiveness, Flexibility, Cost and Asset. Research on the measurement of Supply Chain performance was conducted at the Koperasi X dairy business entity. By taking these measurements, it is hoped that business entities can find out what scope must be improved. By using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) calculation, the performance value is 67.53. this figure indicates that the Supply Chain performance is sufficient. Based on the analysis of each scope, it is known that the scope with the lowest final score is Make, which is 53.25. the proposed improvement steps to improve the shortcomings of each in the scope are adding product variations, procurement automation, sustainable technology utilization, and improving relationship with supplier. It is expected that these improvements can be implemented gradually for maximum business entity development.

Abstract

Gusti Batik is a company that operates in the fashion trade sector, especially batik clothing. In carrying out its work, there are several risks that can affect health caused by workplace conditions that are not in accordance with the needs of workers. Therefore, an ergonomic sewing chair was designed to improve the posture of the tailors at the Gusti Batik convection which was carried out by analyzing body posture using the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA), Time Study, and Anthropometry Methods. Improvements were made in order to increase productivity in the sewing process by making ergonomic sewing chairs that Gusti Batik hopes can create a healthier and more productive work environment, reduce the risk of injury, and increase operational efficiency through continuous ergonomic improvements. Based on calculations using the REBA tailor method before the repair, a REBA score of 8 was obtained and after the repair, a REBA score of 5 was obtained. The results of the study using the time study method before the repair obtained a total standard time of 2.7 hours/unit. By setting the standard time to 2.5 hours/unit from the previous 2.7 hours/unit, there was an increase of 0.2 hours/unit.
