Abstract

Based on BNPB data, there has been landslide disaster due to abrasion that caused bridge and houses collapse in Amurang, South Minahasa on June 15, 2022. On geological map, the Amurang area classified as volcanic rock that is suspected to be Tondano’s Tuff when it exploded and formed Tondano’s Caldera. BMKG, in this case the Manado Geophysics Station, conducted a microtremor survei and analysed the data of the survei results using the Horizontal to Vertical Spectral Ratio (HVSR) method. This method can determine the value of the natural frequency and amplification of the soil which can be used to classify the soil at the survei location. The result show that the disaster area in Amurang is an alluvial rock formation formed from deltaic sedimentation, topsoil, mud, etc. with a depth of 30 meters or more. It does not match the classification given by the 1997 geological map. Keywords : natural frequency, HVSR, classification

Abstract

On March 3, 2020 there was an eruption of Mount Merapi with a height of volcanic ash 6000 m above the mountain peak. The distribution of volcanic ash, especially Mount Merapi, can cause various losses, ranging from disruption to air traffic, dead plants, to human health problems. This study aims to determine the distribution of volcanic ash (SO2), concentrations of SO2 before and after the eruption, and its relationship with the value of the Standard Air Pollution Index (ISPU). This study uses the Two Bands Split Windows (TBWS) method. This method is a method that uses the technique of utilizing two channels on the infrared channel from Himawari-8 satellite imagery, namely the IR (10.8 μm) and I2 (12.0 μm) channels to calculate the Brightness Temperature Difference (BTD) value. This study also uses a quantitative method, namely the measurement of the Air Pollution Standard Index (ISPU) by converting units to micrograms/meter3. Not only that, this research also compares spatial data between Himawari-8 data and VAAC Darwin which then validates the distribution of SO2 with ISPU values. The results show that the direction of distribution of volcanic ash from the eruption of Mount Merapi is dominant towards Sleman and Boyolali Regencies with the ISPU score reaching the highest score of 291 in Boyolali District and in Sleman District reaching a value of 209. The scale is included in the very unhealthy category so that it can increase health risks in the number of segments of the population exposed.

Abstract

Research on gap analysis of policy implementation is a sub-grand theory from policy implementation very rarely reviewed in journals. This study focuses on the Gap Analysis of Government Performance Accountability (GPA) for optimizing performance management of Meteorology information services in the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) to support the improvement of the renewable energy transition. This research uses a qualitative method through Creswell’s spiral analysis approach and data processing using NVIVO12 software. based on the results of the study it was found that conventional weather information needs to be upgraded to thematic information to support the improvement of renewable energy transition so that it can be operationalized by public agencies such as the state electricity company (PLN) and other SOEs from water energy resources and solar energy.

Abstract

The Halmahera Sea has a mass of water which is influenced by the dynamics of the atmosphere-ocean of the Pacific Ocean. The existence of a system of equatorial currents and warm pools has a major influence. Conditions of waves, currents and wind greatly affect the activities of the people around these waters. This research is expected to be able to provide initial information for the community in carrying out their daily activities. The data used is remote sensing data from satellite images of waves, surface currents, and surface winds. The data is processed seasonally using spatio-temporal analysis and linear regression analysis. The results showed that the spatial pattern of wave height, surface currents, and surface winds that occurred in the western part of the Halmahera Sea showed a seasonal pattern which was influenced by monsoon winds. In this study, it was shown that there is an influence between wind speed on wave formation and surface currents in the western Halmahera Sea.

Abstract

GBON is a global network system that provides weather data for weather forecasters and climate experts worldwide. However, there are still developing countries, such as Timor-Leste, that have yet to meet the GBON requirements. This paper delves into the gap between the current conditions at DNMG, an institution that provides meteorology, climatology, and geophysics services in Timor-Leste, and the conditions required to comply with GBON requirements in terms of organizational governance, observation infrastructure, and human resource capacity. The study used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, and data was obtained from interviews with key figures involved in the Systematic Observation Financing Facility framework. The analysis reveals that the DNMG organization's position as a technical directorate in the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Timor-Leste limits its authority in budget planning and organizational development. Despite meeting the horizontal resolution of the basic surface observation requirements for Timor-Leste as a Small Island Developing States (500 km), the poor condition of the equipment and the failure to exchange data internationally prevent Timor-Leste from complying with GBON. Furthermore, limited number and capacity of human resources and the absence of Standard Operating Procedures hinder effective work processes within DNMG. To increase the capacity of DNMG human resources, BMKG actively provides assistance and support to DNMG Timor-Leste in the form of training activities and workshops to meet the observation and service standards required in GBON. Abstract

The studies have shown that there has been a tendency to increase hydrometeorological disasters in Indonesia caused by extreme weather, the causes of extreme weather is the La Nina. The La Nina period is understood to cause a positive rainfall anomaly, which means that the rainfall is higher than normal. In this study, we used data from the BNPB for the year 2021. Continuation in this study uses discryptive analysis methods, i.e. methods of analysis based on statistical data. During the year 2021 has occurred 1727 events of hydrometeorological disaster. Hydrometeorological disasters are the most common (96%), with the rest being geological and hydroceanological. Floods are the most frequent hydrometeorological disasters and cause the most casualties. During the year 2021 has been recorded as many 242 people victims of flooding. The victims of the hydrometeorological disaster is causes of the insufficient capacity of the community to prepare for the threat of the horometeorologic disaster. There is a need for educational and illiterate efforts on hatred for the community to increase the capacity of preparedness to face the threat of hydrometeorological disasters.
