Abstract

The factor that must be considered in the machining process is the level of surface roughness of the material being processed. Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines help in producing large quantities of products without resetting the computer program. The process variables used in this study were feed speed with variations in levels of 140 mm/minute and 180 mm/minute, depth of ingestion with variations in levels of 0.5 mm and 0.7 mm, and feeding motion with variations in levels of 0.25 mm/put and 0.5mm/put. The analysis was carried out using the taguchi calculation method. The results of research data analysis that has been carried out on the surface roughness value of AISI 1040 steel can be determined that setting the variable settings in the CNC lathe machining process to produce the lowest surface roughness value on AISI 1040 steel material can be obtained by a combination of speed variables feed 180 m/minute (level 2), depth of feed 0.7 mm (level 2) and feed 0.25 mm/put (level 1) with a contribution value of . Where the contribution of feed motion makes the greatest contribution to the surface roughness response when compared to other factors, namely 31.3764%. The second contribution that influences the response to surface roughness is feed speed, which is 16.8977%. depth of ingestion is 5.1126%.

Abstract

In order to find out the alcohol content in drinks circulating in the community, measurements and tests are usually carried out in the laboratory. This takes quite a long time. To solve this problem, we need a tool that can measure alcohol quickly and accurately. This research aims to design and manufacture a detector for the percentage of alcohol content, especially in drinks, using an IoT (Internet of Thing)-based MQ3 sensor as a monitoring system that is connected directly to a smartphone. The method used in this research is PID (Proportional Integral Derivative). By setting the PID tuning with a value of kp=4, ki=3, kd=0.0001 and a setpoint of 210 is used to produce an optimal reading of the alcohol content in the drink. Readings using PID control have an average error value of 1.26%, otherwise without using PID control, the average error value is 8.12%. In order to see the alcohol content of the experimental results of the type of drink detected, it will be displayed on the blynk application on the smartphone.

Abstract

Lubricating is one of the methods to prevent temperature rise and wear due to friction among gearbox components. The lubricant quality is an essential factor in ensuring lubricant functions optimally. Long-term use of the machine changes lubricant quality, which can be measured by viscosity parameters and Total Acid Number (TAN). This research aims to determine the effect of machine operating time on viscosity and TAN lubricant changes of milling machine gearbox heads (Headstock) used for educational purposes. The study used a quantitative research method in which data was collected using statistical data analysis tools and selecting a random sampling. Forty samples of Shell Tellus 46 lubricant were taken every 5 hours for 200 operation hours with an operating temperature of 27.5-44.4°C and 300 rpm speed. Viscosity testing uses Visgage and Fluidscan to check TAN. Data analysis using a simple linear regression analysis method with the statistical software Minitab 21.3. The results showed that operating time had a significant effect on: 1) a 95% change in viscosity value with 3.67 cSt (7.39%) decline or 0.018776 cSt per operation hour; 2) 99.34% change in TAN value with 0.27 mg KOH/g (16.56%) increase or 0.001297 mg KOH/g per operation hour.

Abstract

In production machining process is something that must be prioritized. One factor that affects the quality of production is the condition of the machine tool. The Mori Seiki SL 25 CNC Turning Machine is a machine that has existed since 1998 at the Polman Babel Mechanic Workshop and has been used for production processes and learning facilities for approximately 25 years. The use of machine tools at that time can affect the machine's geometric conditions, affecting the quality of the product produced. Roundness is one of these geometric conditions because many components with round cross-sections affect the components' function if deviations occur. Deviations in the roundness value on the machine can be known by testing the roundness value of the machining workpiece. From these tests, geometric errors in the machine and the feasibility of the machine in processing workpieces at specific size tolerances can be seen. The workpiece resulting from the machining process will be measured for its roundness value and then analyzed using the Minimum Zone Center (MZC) method. The test results on the geometric conditions of the machine are that the highest roundness deviation is at position 1 with an average of 21.7 μm which is the outermost position of the clamping area. The slightest deviation value is at position 6 with an average of 10.9 μm, and the machine can produce workpieces with a tolerance above 21 μm.
