Abstract

The use of Archimedes screw turbines in small-scale hydroelectric power plants is being developed as an option for renewable and environmentally friendly electricity sources with significant potential, particularly in remote areas. Another advantage is the ease of installation and maintenance of these turbines. The aim of this research is to generate environmentally friendly and sustainable electrical energy using water resources, leveraging the potential energy of water in our surroundings, and monitoring the small-scale hydroelectric power plant (PLTPH) system through a smartphone. Field testing results demonstrate a DC output voltage of approximately 21.50 volts at a 55˚ angle with a rotational speed of 600 rpm. Practical testing reveals an accuracy level of over 90% for the IoT monitoring values for rpm and water flow.

Abstract

The need for energy sources currently continues to increase, especially electrical energy, even exceeding existing estimates. Along with the need for electrical energy, further research is needed to utilize new renewable energy as alternative energy, one of which is hydroelectric power plants. Hydropower and PLTMH have different output capacities, one of the turbines that can be used as a PLTMH is the screw turbine (Archimedes screw). The efficiency of the Archimedes screw turbine is influenced by many factors, one of which is the turbine design. The existing turbine design needs to be evaluated by several factors such as inner and outer screw diameter, slope, screw pitch, number of blades, and inlet and outlet conditions as well as head and water flow. This research aims to find out how the design of the distance between the screws affects the efficiency of this screw turbine. The variable used in this research is the distance between threads, namely 8 cm, 10 cm, and 12 cm with a 12VDC 5W, 10W, and 15W lamp load. The results of this research show that the turbine with a distance between the threads of 12 cm produces the highest generator rotation, namely 532.1 rpm at no load and at a load of 15 watts the rotation decreases to 227.1 rpm. The highest voltage produced is 27.1 Volts when there is no load and when the load is 15 watts it is 8.9 Volts. while the current and power are 0.64 Ampere 5.70 Watt respectively, so that the highest efficiency is produced in a turbine with a screw spacing of 12 cm at a turbine head angle of 40 , namely 10.10%.

Abstract

The Pelawan leaf chopper machine is an annual product of LPPM Universitas Brawijaya Malang and in collaboration with several universities, one of which is Bangka Belitung University which is focused on the Pelawan forest, Namang village, Central Bangka Regency. The chopping machine used has dimensions of 30 x 30 x 3 mm, and uses a 200-watt electric motor drive with a voltage of 220 V/150 Hz, with Rpm 2800 and 2 blades in the hopper. During the machine testing process, there were still deficiencies in the tool components which caused the results of the chopping to not be chopped properly. Therefore, it is necessary to identify existing problems and make design improvements to the pelawan leaf chopper machine to increase the capability of the chopping process. Identification was carried out on a pelawan leaf chopper machine in the Mechanical Engineering Laboratory at Bangka Belitung University. From the identification it is obtained; Firstly, the number of blades is 2, which causes the chopping process to not be optimal. Second, the distance between the hopper wall gaps is too wide, which affects the level of fineness of the chopped results. For this reason, design improvements were carried out to provide several alternative concepts (sketches) for the number of blades from various constructions on the machine. The alternatives given are 3 concept variants, the first is a 90° tilt propeller concept variant, the second is a 45° tilt screw layout concept variant and the third is a straight concept variant and a 90° tilt layout. In this research, variations of the concept following the assessment criteria and a distance between the blades of 45° enabled maximum results to be obtained.

Abstract

Attendance is an attendance list that is always used to view attendance data at an institution that wants to use it, because attendance has a value that is relevant enough to be used. In achieving data relevance for absenteeism, careful planning, effective management, and compliance with regulations and requirements are required. However, attendance at the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic is still done manually. The conditions used greatly influence the technology used. Therefore, we need an attendance tool based on modern technology, namely RFID, which can be used to register attendance which is carried out by developing a system using the Prototype method. So with this RFID-based attendance system it can help the work of those in charge of managing attendance data.

Abstract

Regional arts and culture constitute a sector with tremendous potential for development and preservation. Each region boasts its own unique cultural characteristics, thus necessitating a widespread introduction to these cultural facets. Particularly, the cultural heritage of the Bangka Belitung Islands showcases distinctive and captivating artistry and traditions. However, these cultural elements often remain insufficiently recognized on a broader scale. One of the reasons behind the waning interest of the younger generation in the cultural heritage of the Bangka Belitung Province is the lack of control from the local government, allowing an influx of foreign cultures. Therefore, this research aims to develop an Android-based application that introduces the arts and cultural heritage of the Bangka Belitung Islands. The application development employs the Scrum software development methodology using the Kotlin programming language. The primary objective of this project is to familiarize and facilitate users in discovering information about the arts and cultural heritage of the Bangka Belitung Islands. This research is conducted in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Culture, Sports, and Youth of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province. The blackbox testing yielded highly satisfactory validation results, while the user acceptance testing produced a percentage of 87.8%, indicating its suitability for use.

Abstract

Stoves have experienced developments from time to time. One of the stove developments is a multifuel stove which is a type of stove that can use many types of fuel as fuel. Multifuel stoves have many important components that function to support the combustion process, one of which is the stove nozzle which functions to flow air into the combustion tube. In this study, tests will be conducted to find out the effect of variations in the diameter of the stove nozzle holes on the characteristics of the fire and water temperature during the water heating process. The method used in this test is a combination of experimental studies and literature studies. There are 5 variations of nozzle hole diameter that will be tested, namely 1.5 mm, 2.0 mm, 2.5 mm, 3.0 mm, and 3.5 mm. The fuel used is used cooking oil. The desired fire characteristic is the longest flame length. The results of the tests that have been carried out are based on the highest average fire temperature is 716°C found in nozzles with a hole diameter of 2.5 mm, and the lowest average fire temperature is 557°C found in nozzles with a hole diameter of 1.5 mm. The longest flame duration was 1,295 seconds at the nozzle hole diameter of 1.5 mm, while the fastest flame duration was 832 seconds at the nozzle hole diameter of 3.5 mm. The variation of nozzle hole diameter has no effect on the color of the flame, which produces a blue color with a yellowish flame tongue. The longest water boiling time was 180 seconds for nozzle hole diameters of 1.5 mm, 3.0 mm, and 3.5 mm, while the fastest water boiling time was 150 seconds for nozzle hole diameters of 2.0 mm and 2.5 mm.

Abstract

Fish is one source of animal protein that is widely consumed by the community, but fish also quickly decay after being caught and dying. Fish must be handled properly to keep them in a condition suitable for consumption within a day of being caught. One way to preserve fish is by smoking. The smoking process by using a smoking cabinet to determine the water content, ash content, and protein content that affects the quality of fish se'i by SNI using a temperature that is maintained to remain at 80 °C-100 °C in the position of arranging fish vertically and horizontally with a difference in smoking time for 60 minutes, 90 minutes and 120 minutes using kesambi wood charcoal as fuel at 60 to 120 minutes Vertical Position Water Content between 62.05% and 65.27%, horizontal position 54.27% to 58.98%. The ash content produced ranges from 4.93% to 5.36%; in the horizontal position, it is 5.12% to 5.58%. The protein content in the vertical position protein content produced fish ranges from 15.20% to 20.58%, and in the horizontal position ranges from 12.75% to 17.97% with vertical heat transfer of 4704.42 kW and horizontal of 2101.28 kW the better the position of the arrangement of the fish, the better the quality of the fish produced and if it is faster or longer Smoking time can affect the quality of fish by decreasing or increasing the amount after smoking at a particular time which is affected by the heat generated from the fuel.

Abstract

Bangka Belitung Islands Province which consists of two islands, namely Bangka Island and Belitung Island, with such a geographical position, transportation is needed to facilitate connecting the two islands. The innovation of 3D printing used in transportation is in the form of a Waterjet Thruster using ST PLA (Super Tough Polylactic Acid) filament as a material for making parts of the Waterjet Thruster in the form of Inlets, Impeller, and Turbo Outlets. The Taguchi method is used to randomize the levels and factors in this test so that later the right combination can be found. In the tests that have been carried out, the highest results were found in experiment 8 with variations of 13 blade inlets, impeller 3 blade Type 2 and 9 Blade Outlet with thrust of 2.226 Newton while for the lowest value in Experiment 7 with variations of 13 Blade Inlet, Impeller 3 Blade Type 1 and Outlet 13 Blade with thrust 1.245 Newton.

Abstract

The Muhammadiyah Riau University Canteen "Mbak Bet" has been operating for 14 years since 2010.  This canteen provides a variety of food and beverage menus to meet the needs of campus residents. However, the large number of competitors, limited promotions, and uncertain class schedules cause customers who come to the campus canteen to vary every day, making it difficult to predict income. Based on these problems, the purpose of this research is to create an information system that can increase promotion. The system designed is based on a website that can be accessed by customers and canteen owners. The method used is linear sequential. The result of this research is a canteen information system that contains canteen profile information, menus, and promos. The implementation of this system is expected to help the canteen in promoting the menu and increasing customers.

Abstract

Waterborne diseases continue to pose a significant global health challenge. Traditional water treatment methods often fall short in ensuring complete microbial inactivation. This study investigates the efficacy of pasteurization as a potential solution for water disinfection. The research focuses on unit testing the pasteurization process to determine optimal temperature and exposure time for effective pH level. Water, being a fundamental component in numerous pasteurization processes, undergoes significant changes when subjected to heat. This study involves five steps to analyze pH changes in water during pasteurization. Starting at 50°C, a water sample is taken and its pH level measured. The temperature is then increased to 60°C, 70°C, 80°C, and 90°C, with pH measurements taken at each step. The recorded pH levels are compared to determine the effect of temperature on water pH, leading to a comprehensive conclusion based on the observed data. The result shows that increasing the temperature during pasteurization leads to an increase in the pH level of water. Consequently, for applications requiring a specific pH level, such as the ideal pH [1] a pasteurization  temperature of 90°C is recommended. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of the united states recommends a pH level of 7 for daily consumption.
